Age Guidelines: As of August 31, 2011…
Tiny – 5 years and younger
Mini – 8 years and younger
Youth – 11 years and younger
Junior – 14 years and younger
Senior – 18 years and younger

Tumbling Level 1 – no prerequisite tumbling skills; preferably basic knowledge of cartwheels, rolls, and limber skills
Guidelines: Level 2 – standing back handspring, round off back handspring
Level 3 –standing multiple back handsprings, round off bhs back tuck
Level 4 – standing back tuck, round off bhs layout
Level 5 – toe touch back tuck, round bhs full twisting layout

Exceptions:        Sometimes an athlete may not have the required minimum tumbling skill to make a certain level team;
however, if we feel that the athlete possesses other skills that would help a team, we will consider
placing him or her on that team. This is also true in the opposite view. If an athlete has a necessary
tumbling skill for a certain level DOES NOT automatically mean that they will be placed on a particular
team. Some of the other skills we will look at during evaluations are stunt abilities, jump abilities,
                   dance/motion technique, and leadership skills.

*ALL RETURNING MEMBER ACCOUNTS MUST BE CURRENT IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN 2011 TRYOUTS.*

                                         Kids Spot Cheer Program F.A.Q.’s
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Monthly tuition can range from $85 - $125 and competition fees can range from $300 - $600 depending on which
team your athlete is placed on. You should expect to pay at least $1,500 for the entire year, not including travel costs.

Q: How do we get our uniforms?
A: All athletes in need of a uniform will be fitted by the Cheer Director. At the time of fitting at least 50% of the uniform
cost is due. We will be designing and using a brand new uniform for the 2011-2012 season. The cost of the new uniform
package will be an estimated $250-$300. The uniform will be worn for at least 3 years.

Q; Are we expected to pay anything up front?
A: There will be upfront costs due at or before your athlete’s first practice. Most likely those costs will include your first
month of tuition and partial payment of choreography/music costs. Those costs will be explained to you at the
mandatory parent meeting on Monday, May 9th.

Q: How do you select your teams?
A: We select teams to be the most competitive at the level they will be competing in throughout the season. Each
athlete is evaluated and considered thoroughly before being placed on a team. We will always place an athlete on a
team that they will be most successful on.

Q: Does everyone make a team?
A: We strive to make sure that everyone that attends tryouts is properly placed on a team. However, there may be
reasons that a participant is not placed on a team. Those reasons may include, but are not limited to: poor attitude,
issues with authority/coaches, lack of ambition, etc.

Q: When can my child “move up”?
A: We reserve the right to move a child to any team at any given time. If a coach feels that an athlete is exceeding, or not
meeting, the necessary skills for a certain team, that athlete may be moved to a different team that will best ensure
their success.

Q: What are the requirements to make a certain team?
A: Please see Page 1 of the tryout packet under Age Guidelines and Tumbling Guidelines.

Q: Can you still tryout if you miss May tryouts?
A: Yes of course! If you miss May tryouts, you may set up a private evaluation with our Cheer Director, Katie Dohm.

Q: Does Kids Spot Cheer offer any financial assistance?
A: A limited amount of scholarships are offered (tax information is required for scholarship application), fundraisers are
held throughout the year, and everyone is encouraged to look for local or regional sponsors.
