Welcome to our 5th Form & Function exhibition! We encourage artists to submit recent works from media including but not limited to: Clay, Glass, Fiber, Stone, Wood, Metal, Jewelry & Basketry, in any combination; all creative forms from wall-hangings to wearable, beads to baskets, bowls to sculpture, come enter the Artful Dimension of Form & Function.
Artists’ Rights
• • • • • • • You may submit up to three pieces, but depending on volume of submissions, some pieces may not be accepted for exhibition. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon - 6 p.m. It is necessary for each artist to contribute three hours of gallery sitting time for each piece exhibited in the show, or pay a $20 docent waver fee per accepted artwork. All two-dimensional work must be framed and have a hanging wire on the back. Unframed work in clay, glass, etc., meant to be hung on the wall must include a secure means of hanging as well as any special materials needed for hanging. Size & Weight: No work may exceed 72” in any direction, nor weigh over 50 lbs unless pre-approved by the Curator. Photographs or reprographics of your work, made into cards, may be entered into the gift shop to provide continuity between the gift shop and the exhibit. Sun, August 16, 2-5 p.m. Deliver work & entry form to the Art Center. (No work will be accepted after 5 pm on Sunday.) Sun, Sept 20, 2 – 5 p.m. Pick up work from exhibit. Artwork not picked up will be subject to a $5/day storage fee.
Sales & Publicity
There will be a commission of 25% for members and 40% for non-members, so price your work accordingly. If you have a photograph/slide/CD image of the piece you’re submitting to the show, send it along with your artist’s statement and we will try to use it in our pre-exhibit publicity. Publicity will include mailings, media contacts and our SCMAC website. Artwork(s) may be chosen for cover design of invitation; selected image(s) may also be used in SCMAC news releases and on the SCMAC website.

The undersigned artist is a contributor to “Form & Function” at the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, 9341 Mill St., Ben Lomond, California 95005, Aug. 19 – Sept 19, 2009. Although care will be taken to protect the art during installation and display, artist hereby acknowledges that artist shall assume all risk for loss or damage to any works of art submitted for said event. It is further acknowledged that the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, the owner of the building, their officers, members, employees and agents accept no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any loss or damage to artist’s work of art. Artist will indemnify, hold harmless, and defend from all liability from loss, damage, or injury to persons or property in any manner arising out of or incident to the submission of any works of art for this event, including, without limitation all consequential damages, whether or not resulting from the negligence of the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, the owner of the building, their officers, members, employees, or agents, of said organization and/or entities. Member artists to be paid 75% of retail price of items sold in regular show. Non-Member artists to be paid 60% of retail price of items sold in regular show. SCMAC to retain the remainder.
