Some Wise Advice from Comedians A common thread emerges when you listen to where great comedians get their material. Jerry Seinfeld says that anytime he gets upset or mad his “comedy mind” goes off, and he thinks to himself, “this could be funny.” George Carlin and Dennis Miller both speak of how often a lot of their humor as a stand-up is born out of anger or frustration over something. So the next time something upsets you at work, try to take a comic perspective – use your “third eye” that comedians so often speak about to see if you can view the situation/scene as a detached observer and find something funny in it. Put yourself in the shows of your favorite comedian or humorist and think about what they might have to say about the situation. Remember, as we’ve said oh-so-many times here at the HumpDay: “Don’t get mad – get funny!” ================================================================= 2. Mike's Fun at Work Tip In the spirit of the Guinness Book of World’s Records, keep track of your own workplace records. The records highlight performance records such as sales figures or number of clients, but they should also include plain silly and fun accomplishments such as: the record for the longest commute into the office # of days the boss went without saying a certain buzzword most coffees drank in one day highest number of papers jammed in the photocopier assorted oddball personal office feats ================================================================= 3.
