• “In the early days when Christianity
  exercised a dominant influence over
  American thinking, men conceived the
world to be a battleground… How different
today; the fact remains the same, but the
  interpretation has changed completely.
Men think of the world not as a
battleground but as a playground. We are
not here to fight; we are here to frolic. We
are not in a foreign land; we are at
home…. That this world is a playground
instead of a battleground has now been
accepted in practice by the vast majority of
  evangelical Christians…

• Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength
of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so
that you will be able to stand firm against the
  schemes of the devil.
• For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the powers,
against the world forces of this darkness, against
the spiritual forces of wickedness in the
heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full

• For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put

              2 Sauls in War
• King Saul 1 Sam 28:5-10

• When Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he
was afraid and his heart trembled greatly. When
Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer
him, either by dreams or by Urim or by prophets.
• Then Saul said to his servants, "Seek for me a
woman who is a medium, that I may go to her
and inquire of her." And his servants said to him,
"Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at

Then Saul disguised himself by putting on
other clothes, and went, he and two men with
him, and they came to the woman by night; and
he said, "Conjure up for me, please, and bring
up for me whom I shall name to you."
• But the woman said to him, "Behold, you know
what Saul has done, how he has cut off those
who are mediums and spiritists from the land.
Why are you then laying a snare for my life to
bring about my death?" Saul vowed to her by the
Lord, saying, "As the Lord lives, no punishment
shall come upon you for this thing."

• Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven,

• And there was war in heaven, Michael and his
angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon
and his angels waged war, and they were not
strong enough, and there was no longer a place
  found for them in heaven.
• And the great dragon was thrown down, the
serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan,
who deceives the whole world; he was thrown
down to the earth, and his angels were thrown
  down with him.
• Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now
the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of
our God and the authority of His Christ have
come, for the accuser of our brethren has been
thrown down, he who accuses them before our

• Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded
the minds of those who don't believe. They are
unable to see the glorious light of the Good
News. They don't understand this message
about the glory of Christ, who is the exact
  likeness of God.
• You see, we don't go around preaching about
ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord,
and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus'
sake. For God, who said, "Let there be light in
the darkness," has made this light shine in our
hearts so we could know the glory of God that is
seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
• We now have this light shining in our hearts, but
we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing
this great treasure. This makes it clear that our
great power is from God, not from ourselves.

• But I fear that somehow your pure and

• Why can't you understand what I am saying? It's
because you can't even hear me! For you are
the children of your father the devil, and you love
to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer
from the beginning. He has always hated the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he
lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a
liar and the father of lies.
• So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don't
believe me! Which of you can truthfully accuse
me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth,
  why don't you believe me?
• Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the
words of God. But you don't listen because you
don't belong to God." The people retorted, "You
Samaritan devil! Didn't we say all along that you
  were possessed by a demon?"
• "No," Jesus said, "I have no demon in me. For I
honor my Father—and you dishonor me. And
though I have no wish to glorify myself, God is
going to glorify me. He is the true judge. 51 I tell
you the truth, anyone who obeys my teaching
