Calendar of Events for 2009
From May 21st through October 20th, Fort Ticonderoga is open daily, including holidays, 9:30am to 5:00pm. Interpreters in period uniforms tell the story of the Fort throughout the day. Weather permitting, they will offer a musket demonstration. In July and August (weather permitting), artillery demonstrations occur daily and the Fife & Drum Corps entertains with martial music. The King’s Garden is open June 1st - October 12th for self-guided tours from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Groups need to reserve in advance. Please write or call (518) 585-2821 to enlist in the Friends of Fort Ticonderoga, or to request more detailed information. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, or visit the Fort at its web site, www.FortTiconderoga.org. Admission:

Battle of Carillon Wreath-Laying Ceremony—1:45 pm Garden Party Fundraiser—Call for an invitation. Centennial Birthday Party—with Atlantic Crossing, 7:00 pm, $15, call for tickets. Champlain Quadricentennial and Fort Centennial Celebrations. Rededication of the Champlain Marker, Re-enactors, Suffragette, Music & More! Bus trip to the Montreal Botanic Gardens and Biodome Fife & Drum Corps Muster. Corps from around New England portray different period corps. Officers’ Dinner Fundraiser—Call for an invitation.
Peony Day in the King’s Garden—10 am Scottish Festival and Black Watch Memorial Ceremony – Pipe bands, Clan tents, Scottish merchandise vendors June 20 and music, parade and ceremony at the Black Watch Cairn. Meet General Jeffrey Amherst— British General Jeffrey Amherst (as portrayed by actor Howard Burnham) returns to Fort Ticonderoga to mark the June 26 250th anniversary of his capture of the fort from the French in July 1759, 7:30 pm, $10/$8 for Friends. Grand Encampment of the French & Indian War—Fort Ticonderoga's annual June Grand Encampment of the French & 27 & 28 Indian War focuses on the events of 250 years ago in 1759. Pipes & Drums of the Atlantic Watch Scottish Band perform at 1:00 and 3:00. Rousing show including traditional th tunes, individual performances and July 4 Dance. Readings of the Declaration of Independence throughout the day Making Sense of Lavender—Care, July 6 – 24 history and uses of lavender. Take home (weekdays) a scented souvenir from the garden, all ages welcome, 12:30 – 3:30 pm.

August Iris Division Days in the King’s Garden—Learn about the division of 10 – 21 (weekdays) Iris rhizomes, 12:30 – 3:30 pm Revolutionary War Encampment— Units depicting the British, Continental, September German, and Natives involved in the 12 & 13 War for American Independence encamp on the Fort's grounds for the weekend.
