Victoria’s Biodiversity  The principal statewide strategy for conserving biodiversity in An initial minimum standard of ‘no net loss’ of extent and quality is the
Strategy 1997 Victoria as required under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act goal. This means that, as part of an EMS, vegetation quality needs to be

Victoria there is a reversal, across the entire landscape, of the long-
term decline in the extent and quality of native vegetation, leading
to a net gain with the first target being no net loss by the year 2001.

BIODIVERSITY MANAGEMENT INFORMATION – CATCHMENTS

Type of information required Information type and availability
by landholders
Catchment (1) Regional Catchment Strategies. Prepared by each of the 10 Catchment Management Authorities, each Strategy establishes a framework for
implementing a co-ordinated approach to catchment management planning across a region. Establishes specific core projects and actions to
overcome issues identified. Recently reviewed, plans will become the basis for establishing funding initiatives under NHT as a series of devolved
                               grants through the CMAs.
