					Hi First /Second Grade Parents,

I enjoyed meeting many of you this morning, and hope to meet the rest of you over the
next few weeks. Please feel free to contact me throughout the year with any questions,
comments, or concerns. I will be sending out a short email each week after class with an
update on what we did in class that day.

Today we began the class talking about what it means to be Jewish and why we all come
to Sunday School. This was followed by a short discussion about Rosh Hashanah. We
then had music with Michael, and concluded the day with an art project. For the art
project today we built synagogues that said L’Shana Tova on the sides, in honor of going
to synagogue for the High Holidays. The children learned the meaning of the Hebrew
words L’Shana Tova and Rosh Hashanah and some of the Rosh Hashanah symbols. Next
week we will continue to learn about Rosh Hashanah more in depth with stories,
worksheets, games, and music.

L’Shana Tova,
Sabrina

Hi First and Second Grade Parents,
Today in class we continued learning about Rosh Hashanah. We began by reading a Rosh
Hashanah story about Abraham, Isaac, and sacrificing a ram, and sang about apples and
honey with Michael. We celebrated Rosh Hashanah with all of the PASJE classes out in
the courtyard by hearing the shofar blown, and eating apples, honey, challah, and honey
cake. We concluded the day with a Rosh Hashanah knowledge search, in which the class
was divided up into three teams and worked together to complete a Rosh Hashanah maze
and word search, and answer questions about Rosh Hashanah. I hope that you all have a
great Rosh Hashanah.

Shanah Tova,
Sabrina

Hi,

Today in class we learned about Sukkot. We began the day as a school, singing and
celebrating Sukkot in the Sukkah. We then read about Sukkot in the classroom, which
was followed by a short discussion. For the remainder of the class we had Israeli dancing
and music, and we did an art project in which each child created a Sukkah out of a shoe
box.

Thank you to all of the parents who donated shoe boxes for the art project. I really
appreciate the support. All of the children really seemed to enjoy the project. I look
forward to seeing all of you next week for Parents Day at PASJE.
Regards,
Sabrina
