Updating Business Data

         You should carry out your data update in the usual manner. The update process will update
         all of the Business data files you currently use.

         If you are using the DUNS number DataPlus set, you will encounter an error similar to that in
         Figure 1 when you next run your UK product. To overcome this you will need to replace the
         DUNS DataPlus set with the new Experian URN DataPlus set and configure your product to
         return this.

                                                                                                             Figure 1.

Updating the DUNS number DataPlus set with the Experian URN DataPlus set

         NB: You will only need to read the following instructions if you are currently using the Dun &
         Bradstreet DUNS number DataPlus or if you wish to start using the Experian URN DataPlus
         set.

         1. You will initially need to install the URN DataPlus set to your data directory. You can
            determine the location of your data directory in the following ways.

                   • If you are using the Business Plug & Go product you can load the Configuration
                        Tool from the program group on the Start menu. You should select the
                        Miscellaneous… button on the tool’s main interface. This will present a window,
                        which will show the location of your data directory, as shown in Figure 2.

                                                                                                              Figure 2.

              • The data directory is also set in the product’s configuration file.

                   If you are using the Business Pro product, the configuration file is called QAPRO.INI.

                   If you are using the Business Batch product, the configuration file is called
                   QABATCH.INI.

                   By default this should be located in the product’s installation directory. You should
                   open this file using a text editor such as Notepad, and look for the setting
                   DataDir=<Path to data directory>.

              • If neither of the above options is possible, you should do a search for the
                   DBSTRT.ALL file, which is used by all the UK Business products.

         2. Once you have determined the location of your data directory you will need to install the
            URN DataPlus set. To do this you will need to run the UK Business Data update disk
            again, and this time select to ‘Perform Data Install’ rather than ‘Perform Data Update’ as
            shown in Figure 3.

               The next screen will prompt you for the location of your data directory, which you have

               The following screen will be presented to you with a list of available data to be installed.
               You should double click on the word NO under the Install option for the Experian
               Business URN. When you do this you will be prompted for a password. This password
               is quoted on your updates letter. If you do not have this information, please contact UK
               Technical Support on 0207 498 7788, who will be able to provide you with this
               information provided you are sufficiently licensed. The Install option will now be altered
               to YES as shown in Figure 5.

                                                                                                              Figure 5.

               You should now finish the install process by selecting the Finish button.

         3. To ensure that the old DUNS number DataPlus set does not interfere with the running of
            your product, you should delete the following files from your data directory.

              QADBDN.DAT

              QADBDN.INF

Reconfiguring UK products to return Experian URN data instead of DUNS number data

         NB: You will only need to read the following instructions if you are currently using the Dun &
         Bradstreet DUNS number DataPlus or if you wish to start using the Experian URN DataPlus
         set.

         1. Business Pro UK Plug & Go

              To reconfigure this product to return the Experian URN in place of the DUNS number, you
              should load the Configuration Tool, which can be found in the product’s program group on
              the Start menu. Once you have loaded the Configuration Tool, you should select the
              DataPlus button to alter the dataplus data returned by the product. When this button is

              selected you will be presented with the error shown in Figure 6. You should select OK to
              take you to the DataPlus interface.

                                                                                                              Figure 6.

               The DataPlus line that once contained the DUNS number will now have no element
               attached to it. You should highlight this line by clicking on it with your mouse. You
               should select the Edit… button, which will present to you the available DataPlus
               elements. To tie the Experian URN to this line you will need to double click on the item
               DBUN.LocURN. The edited DataPlus line will now appear as shown in Figure 7.

                                                                                                              Figure 7.

               You should now select the OK button followed by Save before exiting the configuration
               tool. You will need to reload Business Pro to ensure that these changes take effect.

         2. Business Batch Standalone

              You will not encounter any problems loading Batch, but if you select an existing Setup
              which returns the DUNS number as part of the output, you should reconfigure your
              settings to now output the Experian URN. To do this you should select the Configure
              option once you have reached the main application interface as shown in Figure 8.

                                                                                                              Figure 8.

               The only settings you will need to alter are the Output Fields… When you select this
               option, you will notice that the field that previously held the DUNS number will now be
               blank. To append the Experian URN you should highlight the line that should contain
               this data by clicking on it with your mouse and selecting the DataPlus Items… button as
               shown in Figure 9. You should now select the Experian URN from the list of DataPlus
               sets items available and use the Fix Item button to append this data.

                                                                                                              Figure 9.

               You should select the OK button on each screen until you are returned to the main
               application screen as shown in Figure 8.

               Now when you carry out your Batch run, the field that would have previously contained
               the DUNS number output, will now have the Experian URN written to it.

         3. Business Pro/Batch UK API

              To return the Experian URN instead of the DUNS number, you will need to edit section of
              the configuration file used by your product. The default name of the Batch configuration
              file is QABATCH.INI. By default the configuration file for the Pro API is called QAPRO.INI
              but can be altered. If you are unsure of the name of the configuration file or the section
              that your integration is using, the configuration file name and section are passed as
              parameters to the following functions:

              QAPro_Open (IniFile, IniSection)

              QAProUI_Startup (Title, IniFile, IniSedtion, Attribs)

              QABatch_Startup (IniFile, IniSection, Attribs)

              Once you have located your configuration file and the section that you are using, you will
              find that the following lines are present.

              DataPlusLines=N

              DataPlusLinen=W40 DBDN.DUNSNum

              DataSets=Yes

              +DataSet: DBDN

              N = Total number of DataPlus lines to be returned, n = number associated with the
              DataPlus line on which the DUNS number is to be returned.

              These settings will need to be altered so that the name of the DataPlus set is changed
              from DBDN to DBUN and the element name is altered to DBUN.LocURN as shown
              below.

              DataPlusLines=N

              DataPlusLinen=W40 DBUN.LocURN
