					                            ROLE PROFILE          Project Manager

                            REPORTS TO            Director, Park Development

                            START DATE            Immediately


PURPOSE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Director, Park Development, the Project Manager will be responsible for
the efficient and effective supervision and delivery of various capital projects, contributing
to the completion of the National Urban Park and its adjacent neighbourhood
infrastructure.



KEY FUNCTIONS

      Coordinate the efforts of various contractors on site;
      Assist with the coordination of detailed drawings/specifications and tender
       documents through various consultants and oversee the tender process on behalf
       of the Planning and Development department;
      Work with consultants and contractors to produce detailed work plans and project
       schedules;
      Represent and/or chair project meetings on behalf of the Planning and Development
       department;
      Produce and manage project budgets;
      Ensure compliance with corporate expectations for all capital projects, including but
       not limited to: schedule, budget, scope, sustainability and design excellence;
      Coordination of onsite construction and inspection reviews to ensure compliance
       with all plans, sections, details and specifications;
      Ensure compliance with Downsview Park sustainability objectives;
      Coordination of pre-construction and construction site meetings, including the
       preparation and circulation of minutes;
      Preparation of monthly construction progress reports;
      Provide field guidance to the contractor and resolve issues related to field
       instructions with the assistance of other consultants as required;
      Consideration and evaluation of alternative methods, equipment and materials to
       achieve the desired end results;
      Carry out general review of construction as required to assess general conformance
       to the contract documents and report observations to the contractor, and other
       consultants, as appropriate;

      Review construction progress, holdback payment requests, and prepare and deliver
       payment certificates to Downsview Park with recommendations;
      Preparation of substantial and final completion certificates.



KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
    A degree/diploma in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology or
      Landscape Architecture Technology or Project Management;
    Membership in or eligibility for membership in OALA or PMI or OACETT;
    Minimum 5 years general experience;
    Proven related project experience, specifically related to large-scale landscape site
      work, earth moving, paving and planting;
    Proven experience with municipal infrastructure projects.
