									Instructions for the Build Green NM Certification Checklist
This spreadsheet refers directly to the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines. For
clarification on a section please refer to the corresponding section of the Guidelines.

Builders are encouraged to go through the guidelines in the design phase of a project to
assess what level to aim for and what needs to be incorporated into the project to meet
that goal. A third-party rater should also be contacted at this point to do an initial
assessment and schedule later on-site testing. As you progress through the project,
update the Checklist with any relevant details and collect all appropriate documentation.

When filling out the checklist, refer to the "Acceptable Documentation" column for details
regarding what documentation is acceptable to verify compliance. If the "Acceptable
Documentation" column is blank, there is no required documentation, but information
regarding how the criteria was met should be included in the last column.

The last column allows space for you to describe why you think that you meet the listed
criteria. Please include any information that may aid in verifying compliance, like detailed
information about a product used and instructions on where within the documentation to
find supporting information.

Once you have all of the information that you need to complete the Checklist, submit it
with the supporting documentation and 3rd Party test results noted in the checklist. The
administrator will review your application and contact you regarding any discrepancies or
missing items. As soon as your certification packet has been reviewed to the approval of
the BGNM Administrator, you will receive a certificate noting the total points accrued and
the level to which the home is certified. The Certification Fee is due when the certificate is

In order to be certified, the project must meet the point criteria for the desired level in every section and accrue at least 80, 90, or 100
additional points from any section(s) for bronze, silver, and gold, respectively. The checklist should automatically insert and sum your point
totals from each section.

Please submit a digital copy and a hard copy to Build Green NM with your certification packet. A final version of the approved checklist will
need to be signed upon receipt of the home certification.
