                                ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Bodega Bay is a rural tourist town located about an hour north of San Francisco. Base housing is
available and mandatory for married couples.

There are two towns that are in the vicinity of Station Bodega Bay, both are approx. 25 miles away;
they are Rohnert Park and Petaluma. Both of these towns have all the grocery stores and shopping
plazas needed for everyday living. The land surrounding both Bodega Bay and Two Rock is pretty
much farmland with cows being the most common sight.

After driving through the vast farmlands, over some coastal mountains, and finally, with Bodega
Bay in view, head towards the Doran State Park road where Coast Guard Station Bodega Bay
presides.

Always ready for the “barn burner” or big case, is two 47ft Motor Life Boats and one 25 ft
Response Boat ready for action. To keep these boats “Always Ready,” it takes a lot of work from
the hard working crew of Bodega Bay, in more ways than one.

In order for the crew of the Bodega Bay to respond to the SAR (Search and Rescue) and the L/E
(Law Enforcement) cases, the boats must be in working order. An average day of keeping the boats
in tip-top shape, range from shining bright work and splicing lines and the engineers changing the
engine oil or fixing a fuel leak. By ensuring the peace of mind for the crew when the boat is
properly working, their priority is doing the mission correctly as well.

As a boat crewmember at Station Bodega Bay, one must be qualified for a wide variety of jobs.
And because the Station is a surf station, a sense of urgency is thrown in the training as well.
Although most of the station’s cases are SAR, there is enough L/E activity to require everyone to be
qualified to shoot the Sig Arms 40. Caliber pistol.

Even though the work is never ending, the rewards from a job well done means high spirits and a
good moral throughout the station.
