All in One Diapers (AIOs) are very easy to use and provide a trim fit. Just
place baby on an open diaper and fasten with Velcro or Snap style closures.
They should not be washed in hot water or bleached. AIOs are one of the most
expensive cloth diapering options, but it is nice to have a few around for oth-
ers to use that need a really easy cloth diaper. The Proservices All in One is
the only one that does a really good job of keeping in newborn poop. Please
use our sizing chart at the back of the catalog for help with sizing.

Easy Fit All in One Cloth Diapers

The innovative Easy Fit diaper features an insert that is attached to
the diaper. This makes it super simple to stuff – easier than a con-
ventional pocket diaper. No fiddling around, just a quick tuck to
slip the insert in the pocket. No more losing liners in the laundry!
Because the liner is attached to the diaper, the Easy Fit combines
the convenience of an all-in-one (AIO) diaper with some of the
benefits of a 2-piece diaper – quick to dry and easy to clean.
The innovative design of the Easy Fit allows you to adjust the level
of absorption. The attached liner can be folded to create up to 6
layers where your baby needs more absorption. Plus you have the
option of adding extra inserts for heavy wetters or for nighttime.
The liner consists of 2 layers. One layer of ultra soft rayon from
bamboo against baby’s tender skin, which absorbs 70% more quickly than cotton (on contact), which pre-
vents run-off leaking out the side of the diaper when baby pees! The second layer is made of an ultra-
absorbent 100% polyester microfibre that basically doubles the absorbance of the diaper. The Easy Fit also
has protective side guards made of anti-wicking, soft brushed polyester that prevent compression wetness.
This is a diaper engineered for successful leak containment and total convenience! People who use this diaper
adore its trim fit, as well as the generously sized Velcro-type closures and fold-back laundry tabs that really

                                             Waterproof outer layer of vinyl
backed polyester (the same as the Kushies Ultra). They also fea-
ture leg gussets made out of stretchy waterproof polyester (the same fabric
that they use in the Prorap Classic) for a snug fit at the legs. The inner ab-
sorbent layer is made from 4x6x4 prefolds. The part of the diaper that is
sewn to the waterproof outer is the middle (long ways) 6 layer panel of the
4x6x4 diaper. You will also get part of the 4 layer side panels. The large
size diaper is wide enough in the back that you get entire width of the 4x6x4
diaper. The inner flap that is sewn down only in the back for quicker drying
is made out of a section of 4x6x4 diaper that has been cut the short way. With
the inner flap you get four layers at the back and at the front. The six layer
panel is in the middle (right where you need more absorbency). Velcro style
closures. Just like your regular prefold diapers, the inner layers of the Proservices All in One diaper will

diapers allow you to get a snugger fit at the legs while still giving your baby a trimmer fit than
prefolds. They are easier to put on in the right place than a prefold, but I think that it takes a little
more time to put on. Since the cover is not attached, they can be washed more aggressively than an
AIO. Please use our sizing chart at the back of the catalog for help with sizing.

                     Kissaluvs Fitted Snap Diapers
         for 1 & 2 fleece. for size 0's.

Kissaluvs diapers are known for quality fabrics and terrific fit. The unbleached
cotton fleece is a luxuriously deep-pile fabric made especially for Kissaluvs. It
is soft, absorbent, very stretchy and exceptionally durable. Diapers have elasti-
cized leg and back openings to contain messes and floods. All sizes have dura-
ble plastic snaps (two rows on size 0, one row with eight snaps along the tummy in
sizes 1 and 2) and let you overlap the wings to get a great fit on even the thinnest
baby. The extra-stretchy elastic gives an easy, snug fit without binding. Kissaluvs
seem to fit most kids well, mostly because the fabric stretches so much that there is
almost infinite adjustments in the size ranges. Kissaluvs are unique in the
cloth diapering realm, soft, stretchy and absorbent. If you are into fitted diapers or
need something that dad or grandma will find easy to use give Kissaluvs a try.
Size 0 is specially made to actually fit a newborn. It has a snap down feature
in the front so that your baby's umbilical cord can heal without being irritated.
After the cord heals you can unsnap the front and use the second row of snaps
as your baby grows. The inside soaker layers are made with a layer of woven
cotton to provide stability and to distribute wetness all throughout the diaper.
There are also two additional layers of Kissaluvs super thick terry inside. This
is not skimpy 'baby' terry. It is the same super thick and absorbent terry that
they use on their fleece/terry liners.
The booster size Kissaluvs washable liners will fit into the size 0 diapers as
well as the 1 and 2’s. The Super Soakers will fit into the size 1 and 2 diapers.
Like most fitted diapers these work best with pull up style diaper covers. For
newborns the Bummi Pant. The Imse Vimse covers are also made to work
with fitted diapers. Depending on they fit your baby, you may be able to use the Bummi Super or the Prorap
Classic. Like all unbleached/natural fabrics these diapers need to be washed in hot water before they will be-
come absorbent. The manufacturer recommends that they are washed at least four times in hot water before
initial use. They will continue to get more absorbent the more that they are washed until they are totally bro-
ken in. Usually 5-8 wash/dry cycles.

Bamboo is a miraculous and eco-friendly fiber. It is a renewable resource with a
very short growth cycle and it is grown without fertilizers or pesticides. In short it
is the perfect environmental choice for diapers! Bamboo fiber also absorbs 60%
more than cotton and is naturally antibacterial, breathable and cool. Being an eco-
friendly material, bamboo production has minimal impact on the environment. It
thrives naturally without the use of pesticides and herbicides. This is why the

a form-fitting nappy made of ecological cotton inspected by Skal*.
This Two Size Diaper has an excellent fit with soft elastic at the legs.
It is very absorbent diaper and is excellent for use at night. For smaller
babies it can look a little bulky and we recommend the use of a pull up
style cover. Can be used with either a snappi or snug fitting diaper wrap.

international organization, which inspects and certifies, since 1985, organic

                                            Kissaluvs Contour Diapers

                                        Kissaluvs contour (aka,
                                        "shaped") diapers give you
                                        quality fabrics and terrific fit
over a wide size range. The
                                        contour diapers are hourglass
shaped with a uniquely sewn-in booster/soaker. An eco-
nomical alternative to fitted diapers, contours are easy to use ... just
lay inside a snug-fitting wrap, and you're all set. The long wings also
give you the option of pinning (a snappi does not work that well) the N/S
diaper for use under any type of cover or wrap. The diaper can be
folded down at the front to accommodate different rises and should fit
into most Velcro style closing covers.
Kissaluvs contour diapers have two layers of their wonderful cotton M/L
fleece paired with either a sewn-in Booster doubler (size NB/S) or a
twice-the-weight Super Soaker doubler (size M/L). The Booster liner
has one layer of unbleached cotton fleece and one layer of unbleached
knit terry for a soft absorbent liner. The Super Soaker has one layer of cotton fleece and two layers of un-
bleached knit terry for extra absorbency. Available in assorted colors in two sizes.
Newborn/Small 5-20 lbs. Medium/Large 15-35 lbs.

 Imse Vimse Flannel Contour Diapers
Imse Vimse contour flannel diapers are made of 100% organic
cotton flannel. The diaper is ideal for the entire diaper period and its size
can be adjusted simply by folding. You can also fold the sewn-in flannel
insert for greater absorption.
With an adjustable rise and no waist fasteners, this diaper can be sized us-
ing weight measurements.
No fasteners mean that you won't have any diaper chains (all of your diapers stuck together) in the washer or
dryer. A cotton core several layers thick efficiently absorbs.
Newborn - Fits about 4.5 to 13.5 lbs., Infant/Toddler 13 to 35 lbs.

Prefolds are the easiest diaper to care for, but do require some time to figure out how to use them most effective-
ly on your baby. Once you get the hang of it, they are really easy to use. The ply numbers refer to the layers of
fabric in the diaper if you think of it divided in thirds the long way. 4x6x4 would be 4 layers in each outer panel
and 6 layers in the middle panel.

night, you've found THE diaper! Due to the porous nature of the fiber, a
hemp fiber is more absorbent than a cotton fiber of the same size so
nothing absorbs like hemp fleece! Hemp fiber is one of the longest,
strongest and most durable of all natural textile fibers. Products made
from hemp will outlast their competition by many years. Not only is
hemp strong, but it also holds its shape, stretching less than any other
natural fiber. This prevents hemp diapers from stretching out or becom-
ing distorted with use. Hemp may be known for its durability, but its
comfort and style are second to none. The more hemp is used, the softer
it gets. Hemp doesn't wear out, it wears in. Hemp is also naturally re-
sistant to mold, mildew and ultraviolet light. Combining cotton and
hemp makes for a soft, absorbent and very long lasting diaper. Made
from 2-3-2 layers of luxurious- ly soft organic 55% hemp / 45% cotton fleece, these prefolds are up to
any task, from being pinned, folded in thirds in a snug fitting wrap, or as a pocket diaper stuffer. Wash hot
and dry three times before use.

quality, designed to survive an industrial washing
machine - for hundreds of washings! Imagine just how long they will last in your home washing machine. Can be
used with any diaper cover. If you pin your prefolds or use a Snappi - try the Bummis pant. These diapers are
packaged in bulk (i.e. no packaging). They are the same diapers that the diaper services use. The diapers come to
you stiff and they don’t look at all comfortable. Wash and dry them at least twice before using them. They will
undergo a transformation and quilt up into thick, soft, absorbent diapers as shown in the picture. Unbleached
diapers need to be washed several times in very hot (you may need to use boiling) water. Thicker than any diaper
that you can buy in the stores. Made in China out of heavy duty 100% cotton twill. You can order samples
of these great diapers also. All sizes are approximate.

2x6x2 Preemie - 2x6x2 ply with white stitching at the ends (not pictured). For your preemie or can be
used as an economical diaper doubler. 10"x13½" (shrunk 9"x11") Also in unbleached.
        Sample 262 - $1.25 or $13.00 per dozen
4x8x4 Newborn/Infant - 4x8x4 ply (four layers of fabric on the sides and 8 layers in the middle with
dark green stitching at the ends). The easiest prefold to get into those small and newborn covers. When you need
to use the larger diapers for your baby (usually around four months), these diapers can become a generous sized
diaper doublers for overnight. 12"x16" (shrunk 11"x13½"") Also in unbleached.
       Sample 484N - $1.75 or $19.00 per dozen
4x6x4 Regular- 4x6x4 ply (white stitching at the ends). If you want a diaper that will take you from
newborn (use a stretchy cover on your newborn) to potty training, this is it! These are a little bit thinner than the
4x8x4, but they do hold a lot - they are great for daytime, for babies that don’t flood or at nighttime with a
washable liner if your baby needs it. 14."x21" (shrunk 13"x16½") Also in unbleached.
        Sample 464 - $2.25 or $24.00 per dozen
4x8x4 Premium - 4x8x4 ply (blue stitching at the ends). The best diaper for older babies and young
toddlers. These are great for heavier wetting babies or for nighttime when you don’t want to use a washable liner.
14½"x22" (shrunk 13½"x19½") Also in unbleached.
        Sample 484 P - $2.75 or $27.00 per dozen
4x8x4 Toddler - 4x8x4 ply (green stitching on all four sides). If you have an older child that needs more
absorbency, these diapers are the way to go. I wouldn't try to fit these diapers into any covers except XLarge and
Toddler sized covers. 18"x23" (shrunk 16½"x21") Also unbleached.
Sample 484T - $2.95 or $30.00 per dozen

                                             Choosing Cloth Diapers
- Probably the best way to select a reusable diapering system is to decide on the diaper (absorbent) part of your
system and then find a cover that works (some diapers have the cover built in so you won't need a cover) with the
diaper and fits your baby well.
Prefolds are rectangles of cotton or cotton/hemp that have been folded and sewn together. You may also see the
term DSQ - meaning Diaper Service Quality or CPF - meaning either Cotton Prefold or Chinese Prefold. A Chi-
nese Prefold has been made in China and Imported.
They can be the easiest diaper to use and one of the most confusing to figure out - especially if you have never
seen one in person. A prefold has extra layers in the center of the diaper along with two lines of stitching which
divided the diaper into thirds.
Prefolds are folded and sewn but will need to be folded further to put on your baby. Together with covers, DSQ
prefolds are the most economical choice for cloth diapering. They come in many different varieties of fabrics,
sizes and weights. You will see most prefolds referred to with a 4x8x4 identification. The first and last numbers
tell you how many layers of fabric are in the right and left panels of the diaper, the middle number is the number
of layers in the middle panel of the diaper. 4x8x4 diapers are the most absorbent offered, they come in different
lengths and widths to fit into different sizes if diaper covers. 4x6x4 diapers offer good absorbency and offer a lit-
tle less bulk. They can be an excellent size for daytime when diapers can be changed more frequently.
Cotton prefolds are offered in bleached (white) and unbleached (natural). Natural diapers may need a hotter wash
cycle to set up the diapers properly, but will probably last longer since the fabric has not undergone the manufac-
turers bleaching process. Organic and hemp fabrics are often offered as prefolds.
Hemp Prefolds—While being more expensive Hemp prefolds offer excellent absorbency with less layers of fab-
ric - they are often a 2x3x2 construction. Hemp can be grown without pesticides, fertilizers or soil depletion.
When new cotton prefolds will be thin and soft and feel a little stiff. Usually the diapers are stiffer when they are
immediately removed from the compressed bale that they are shipped in. They need to be washed and dried sev-
eral times before being used. Bleached cotton prefolds need to be washed and dried 3-4 times in order to reach
absorbency. Unbleached cotton prefolds and hemp prefolds need to be washed 7-8 times in very hot water to
reach absorbency (they haven't gone through the bleaching process which means it is necessary to wash them of-
ten enough to strip off the natural oils from the cotton.) Hemp prefolds do not start out flat and stiff.
All prefolds shrink several inches after being washed, and they quilt up and get soft and fluffy. Hemp prefolds
will shrink more than cotton prefolds. Depending on the fold and cover, prefolds can be very trim or very bulky.
Depending on the diaper cover that you choose, you may or may not need a snappi. Woven prefolds like those
made out of cotton are excellent choice if you want to fasten the diaper snugly with a Snappi. Knit prefolds like
many made of hemp can develop stretch holes or runs from using Snappis.
Prefolds are the absorbent part of your cloth diapering system and require a diaper cover.

Contour Diapers are shaped to fit into a diaper cover without being folded. Contour diapers are not built with
closures but may have elastic at the leg. For a snug fit, they will need to be pinned or snappi'd. Usually they are
less absorbent than prefolds. Kissaluvs contours have extra-long wings in the back to make for easy pinning.
Contours require a cover.

Fitted Diapers are shaped like disposable diapers. They close around baby's waist with velcro or snaps. Pins and
snappis are not necessary to hold the diaper in place.
Fitted diapers are usually made from more high end fabrics like organic cotton, hemp or cotton velour. They are
constructed with an inner and out layer of material with inner soaker layers. The soaker material is sewn in the
diaper in the middle for maximum absorbency without adding bulk to the outer wings of the diapers.
Fitted diapers are more expensive than contours and significantly more expensive than prefolds, but lots of peo-
ple love them as they can be used by themselves on a warm day. With a cover they are the best at keeping in the
more explosive poops.
Fitted diapers are the absorbent part of your cloth diapering system and require a cover.

All In Ones (AIO) are put on your baby exactly like disposables. They do not need a cover - the cover is built
in. They are usually more expensive than other diapering options. You have to dry them on low, since the cover
is built in, which means they take longer to dry, and they don't last as long because the cover is essentially being
washed every time you wash the diaper. They are very convenient to use and most people like to have a couple
around when their children are being watched by someone who is not familiar with cloth diapers. The Prorap
AIO is the best at keeping in poop.

One Size diapers usually span infant to early toddler years. In the beginning, you snap down the rise so that
they fit the baby. They can look really big on a newborn. One Size diapers are recommended if you don’t want
to keep buying diapers as the baby grows. Also recommended if you have more than one child in diapers since
you will always have the right size diaper on hand. These diapers come with the absorbent part and waterproof
part of your diapering system.

Pocket diapers come as a two piece system. The waterproof outer is attached to a suedecloth or fleece inner.
They come with a microterry insert for absorbency (you can use different inserts). They are similar to All in One
diapers in that you have to change the entire diaper every time that you change your baby. The advantage that
pocket diapers have over the All in Ones is that the absorbent material (insert) is not attached to the waterproof
outer. That allows you to wash the inserts and covers separately if you choose to. It also allows you to easily add
more absorbent inserts for nighttime. Pocket Diapers also give you a built in stay dry liner to keep wetness away
from your baby. There are both one size and sized pocket diapers.

Diaper covers provide the waterproof part of your diapering system if you are using a pre-
fold, fitted or contour diaper. Hook and Loop (Velcro style) and snap diaper covers are
easy to use and can be used with most diapers. Pull up diaper covers can be used with fas-
tened (with a snappi) prefolds, fitted diapers or fastened contour diapers. Please use our
size chart at the back of the catalog for help with sizing.

keep the diaper in place. The leg and waist binding is very soft lycra.
This is a great cover for hot weather because it is very lightweight.
The medium size and up have a 3" wide panel of velcro that is very
durable. These covers are best used during the day. The mesh liner can
cause the cover to wick moisture where the velcro is sewn down if the
diaper gets too wet. Use with prefold diapers, this cover doesn't fit
well over fitted diapers. The newborn size is made for small babies,
with a narrow band of velcro. The small size is made to fit an average
sized newborn with a soft band of fabric at the top front of the diaper
that helps the cord heal. On the larger sizes, the velcro tabs are harder
for your little one to get off. Machine or hand wash, hang to dry.

                   Bummis Super Whisper Wrap
This cover is made two layers of soft polyester knit with a waterproof
laminate (urethane) sandwiched in the middle. Heavy duty elastic at
the tummy and legs is bound with the polyester knit for a great fit. The
polyester fabric does not wick, so moisture stays where it belongs. A
good cover for nighttime. There is a flap of fabric in the top front that
covers the stitching where the velcro is sewn down - no more moisture
sneaking through the thread and out to your baby’s clothes. Lots of
babies only use up to the medium size before they are potty trained -
less covers to buy. The large or xlarge size with a toddler prefold are
great for older toddlers who still need a diaper at night. These wraps
work with prefold or fitted diapers. Available in White, White with
snaps instead of velcro closures, Froggy, Celery Dots or Jungle Print.

               Imse Vimse Wool Wrap

These wool diaper covers are made of 100% pure, newly-woven and
felted wool (two layers in the diaper area). Because they are made of
wool, they breathe the best and keep your baby dry. They are highly
recommended for babies with diaper rash and eczema. The wool low-
ers the temperature in the cover by several degrees by allowing air-
flow. These are ideal for children who pee a lot and sleep a long time
since the wool is very absorbent. The porous wool fibres retain moisture without wicking, keeping baby's
clothes nice and dry. Perfect for occasions when diapers cannot be changed so often.
Medium and Large have snaps for added security.
Easy to use, this wool cover requires no initial set up.
Washing instructions: Can be washed in a machine programmed for wool, but we recommend hand washing
with mild olive soap or wool shampoo. Use a wool cure once or twice a month or if you feel dampness
though the cover. Wash immediately when changing. After washing, wrap the pants in a terry towel and
squeeze out excess moisture to reduce drying time.
Relanolising with a wool cure: Wash the garment before relanolising with wool cure. Shake the bottle and
dissolve 2-3 tablespoons of wool cure in 1 gallon of hot water. Place the diaper pants in the water once it has
cooled to 85ºF.

Happy Heiny’s One Size Pocket Diaper

This is one cover that I think everyone should try for overnight.
Happy Heiny’s are made from an inner layer of a high quality,
lightweight 100% breathable poly fleece and an outer layer of
stretchable polyester with a polyurethane laminate. The two lay-
ers form a pocket to place a pre-folded diaper or the included mi-
cro terry insert into. This ensures that ALL wetness is kept away
from your baby's tender skin. Happy Heiny’s will not pill (get
ugly little balls) or stain. Happy Heiny’s fasten with velcro style
fasteners and are very adjustable to fit your baby's growing needs.
When your baby wets, the urine goes through the layer of fleece
and is wicked away and absorbed by the cloth diaper inside. The
fleece almost immediately dries leaving your baby feeling dry
even for long periods of time. When the Happy Heiny’s get
soiled, they need to be changed just as any other All on One diaper (after each use).
Happy Heiny’s come with two micro terry inserts, for extra absorbency you can use Joey Bunz or our MicroFi-
ber diapers as extra inserts.
Happy Heiny's One Size diaper has three columns of four snaps to adjust the rise on your diaper. This will give
you a total of 4 different sizes in one diaper. You don't have to unsnap the diaper to wash. Just leave it snapped
up until you need a larger size. The snaps allow the diaper to fit most babies from about 8 lbs- 35 lbs. An in-
vestment that will save you money throughout your diapering time.

Using a prefold with a snug fitting diaper cover.

   4. Place diaper in open cover. 5. Slide cover and diaper under your 6. Bring up the front of the cover
baby. Fold the diaper down in front* and fasten.
                                      if it is too long.

*Some cover/diaper combinations work better with the diaper folded down in the back.
For a newborn, try folding the diaper in fourths along the short length.
Some diaper covers have a flap that is sewn on the top front (like the Bumkins above, there are others as well).
Bumkins calls this a Leak Shield and recommends that you tuck your diaper into the pocket. I do not recommend
that you do this. When a wet diaper comes in contact with the stitching where the velcro is sewn it will wick out
onto the velcro. I think that it works better to keep the diaper out of the pocket and use the Leak Shield to keep
the diaper off of the velcro stitching.

                                                     Diaper Covers
- These are waterproof part of your two piece system. The other part of your system is the absorbent diapers.
Pull up Diaper Covers work best with fitted diapers. If you want to use them with prefolds, you will need to use a
snappi or pins to fasten the prefold. Pull up Covers can be used with some contour diapers that have long wings
that can be used to fasten the diaper in place. Basically they are a waterproof layer that provides no support to the
diaper so the diaper needs to hold itself up or be held up by a fastener. They are your most economical cover. Pull
up Covers can be used several times before they need to be washed, as long as they are clean.
                                                     * Bummis Pant

Velcro and Snap styles in general provide support for the diaper so you can just lay a prefold diaper in the cover
and fasten the velcro. One of our velcro covers is a pocket diaper (bumGenius) so the absorbent material goes in
the pocket. Some covers (like the Kushies Wrap) will work better with either a fastened prefold or a fitted diaper.
They are very adjustable and offer a customized fit for your baby. If you are just starting out in cloth diapering and
are looking for a velcro fitting cover I would try the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap (velcro) or the Thirsties Diaper
Cover. It is our most versatile cover and fits most kids well and works with prefolds, most fitted diapers and con-
tour diapers. Velcro covers can be used several times before they need to be washed, as long as they are clean.

Due to the porous nature of the fiber, a hemp fiber is more absorbent than a cotton fiber of the same size so
nothing absorbs like hemp!
Hemp fiber is one of the longest, strongest and most durable of all natural textile fibers. Products made from
hemp will outlast their competition by many years. Not only is hemp strong, but it also holds its shape,
stretching less than any other natural fiber. This prevents hemp liners from stretching out or becoming dis-
torted with use. Hemp may be known for its durability, but its comfort and style are second to
none. The more hemp is used, the softer it gets. Hemp doesn't wear out, it wears in. Hemp
is also naturally resistant to mold, mildew and ultraviolet light.
Combining cotton and hemp makes for a soft, absorbent and very long lasting
Joey-Bunz also make GREAT doublers or use them by themselves in a
snug fitting wrap. Joey-Bunz are better than inserts made from man-made
micro fibers because hemp is a natural product, grown without pesticides
and not bleached, which is very harmful to the environment. Hemp also
protects your baby because it is naturally anti-microbial.
Small are about 12.5" long, medium are 15" long, large are 17" long. All siz-

Trim fleece topped micro terry liners provide extra absorbency for nighttime
or when you need extra time between changes during the day. The fibers in
micro terry are, well, micro - they are smaller than a human hair. What
makes this fabric able to absorb where most synthetic fabrics won't is the ti-
ny pockets in them that trap moisture. You can close up (basically melt) the
fibers and close the pockets if they are dried too hot. So please either hang
dry or dry low. Wash cool or warm. Just a little detergent. The detergent can
easily get trapped in the fibers also. Washing these liners with cotton dia-
pers will cause cotton fibers to stick to the liners. These liners have two lay-

Fleece Liners - $1.75 each or $1.65 each for six or more

Disposable liners act in part as a stay dry layer and make cleanup time easier.

                                                                   sticking to your diapers.
Made from paper pulp and a small amount of viscose, these liners act as a soft stay
dry barrier. These liners are made so that pee goes right through them, but they can be
washed over and over. They can be washed after either a poop or pee. The only time
that I threw them away if after several uses they start to shred or if I missed one when I
was putting the diapers in the dryer. In the dryer they shrivel up. I washed them with the
diapers, then I pull the liners out and flatten them into a pile on top of the dryer. The liners are
d r y when the diapers are dry. These are not for extra absorbency, they are a thin stay dry liner that
helps keep poop off of your diapers.

The days of soaking wet, messy, smelly cloth diapers in a pail are gone, as
is the dirty task of sticking your hand in the toilet to clean off your soiled

   Wash Away Stain Soap

This laundry soap removes most stains and can be used like normal soap when
handwashing covers and removing any organic stains. Wet the stain, rub the soap
on the stain and rinse with water. When removing stubborn stains, rub the soap on
the stain and leave for a while before rinsing out. Our laundry soap is milder than
stain-removing agents. This soap work really well on stains on covers. You can
use it on an occasional diaper stain, but don't use it all of the time or you may end
                         up with some build up.

really thick enough for use as
diapers. I used these all of the time while nursing. They provide a
nice privacy screen when I was nursing my kids in the sling. They
were also great for absorbing all of that breast milk that was leaking

                                 The DivaCup

Healthier, friendly to the environment, comfortable, convenient, and

The Healthier Choice - The DivaCup is a flexible solid silicon receptacle that is
used to collect your menstrual fluids. It does not absorb or disrupt your natural
vaginal acidity or moisture levels, or expose you to chemicals like bleach, glues, and
absorbency gels. The DivaCup has not been associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome. Tens of
thousands of women are so satisfied with The DivaCup that most new sales have been because of
customer referrals.

Environmentally Friendly - The DivaCup is manufactured from solid, medical grade silicon. Solid silicone
differs from the silicone gel used in breast implants. The DivaCup is made from medical grade silicone in the
solid form where the molecules are chain-linked and bound together. Solid medical grade silicone does not
leach into the body and has been used for over 50 years in medical procedures such as joint prostheses and
heart valve replacements. The DivaCup is also cured for 2 hours at 200 degrees Celsius to ensure every mole-
cule is permanently bound into place. The DivaCup lasts at least 10 years, so there is no monthly pollution
from product disposal or packaging.

Comfortable & Convenient - The DivaCup is easily inserted by folding the bell shaped cup vertically. Insert
the cup until the narrow base of the cup is just one to two cm. inside the entrance to your vagina. Rotate The
DivaCup once to ensure that it has unfolded. Then tug gently on the stem for a snug seal.
The DivaCup is so comfortable, most women even forget they are wearing it!

You may be concerned that The DivaCup is unsanitary or messy. These concerns usually vanish after you
have used it a few days. While you are sitting on the toilet, simply remove it by gently pinching the base of
the cup (which releases the seal). Your menstrual fluid remains inside the cup, so the underside stays clean.
Just empty the contents in the toilet, rinse well or wipe, and then reinsert.

Economical - Because The DivaCup is reusable for at least TEN years, the monthly cost is only about 20
cents. It typically costs less than one-tenth of what you are now spending, not to mention the financial impact
of less pollution and garbage disposal. The DivaCup has a one year money back guarantee.

It can hold up to 1 full ounce of menstrual flow. The entire average monthly flow is about 3 ounces. The Di-
vaCup is simple to use. Just empty the cup as required (approximately every 6 to 12 hours), rinse, and
reinsert. It is not necessary to remove it for urination or bowel movements.

Model "2" is for if you have ever had a vaginal childbirth or are over 30. Otherwise you will order Model "1".
It comes in a discrete, convenient, and attractive 100% cotton drawstring pouch.
This is a great product. I have found that my period is no longer something that I have to think out all day
long. After I figured out how to use it (it took me a couple of months) I have found that it does not leak (some
women may need to use a pad at night) and is much more comfortable than anything else.

Imse Vimse - Cotton Menstrual Pads
Imse Vimse cloth sanitary pads are made of pure natural cotton,
which allows you to feel secure and fresh. They offer your body
soft, airy and natural menstrual protection, even the larger sizes
are not much thicker than a disposable pad - and without
that nasty sticky tape.
When used in conjunction with the DivaCup, you
have a great monthly system. Imse Vimse pads are
thin, smooth and stay firmly in place thanks to an outer
pocket with wings that protects against leakage.
You spare the environment and save money, since sanitary
napkins of cloth can be washed and rewashed for many years.
These pads are really economical and are thoughtfully made with
overlock stitching to keep the pads thin, a small plastic snap that you can-
not feel, soft fabric and a moisture barrier in the two larger sizes. The all cotton
pantyliner is great for backup use with a DivaCup, light days or for everyday use.
You will find that you need to change your pads about as often as a disposable pad. So see
how many disposable pads or tampons you are using each day. Add it up and that is about how many pads
you will need for your entire cycle. If you have an average flow, you will probably be able to just change the
liner on top of the regular pad. For heavy flow, you may end up having to change the entire pad. If you are
using the pads as backup for the DivaCup, you will only need a few pantyliners. Figure out how often you
want to wash them and you will have an idea of how many that you will need for your entire cycle (e.g. 2 reg-
ular pads and four liners a day + one long pad and liner a night; washing every other day you would need 4
regular pads + 8 liners and 2 long pads + 2 liners total). After you try one, you will find it is easy to figure out
when they need to be changed or freshened up with a new liner. You may want to get an extra to carry in your
purse or in the car.
Sold in packs of three in three different sizes. Rinse in cold water after use (I spray a little spray n' wash after
the rinse) or soak in a pail of cold water with some salt. Don't use bleach. Dry on medium or hang dry. You
can wash them with your regular laundry if you want.

Washing Cloth Diapers

     • Choose the right detergent and know how much to use (section below).

     • Soaking cloth diapers is unnecessary.

     • Wash soiled diapers every other day.

     • For best results, remove solids from diapers before storing in ventilated pail.

     • Wash cold with correct detergent to remove waste and fight stains.

     • Wash hot (120F/60C) to cleanse your diapers.

     • An extra rinse may be required to remove any lingering detergent.

     • Hang dry or tumble dry warm/medium. Hemp or cotton diapers may be dried on hot.

     • Once per month, use up to 1/4 cup bleach or oxygen bleach (check with manufacturer first) in the hot wash cycle (step 6) to sani-
           tize diapers and fight odors.

     • We do not recommend the use of laundry additives (including vinegar and baking soda).

Choosing and Using Detergent for Cloth Diapers
Some detergent ingredients may coat diaper fabrics, impede absorbency and void product warranties.
Check with the product manufacturer before choosing a detergent.

Watch the second rinse for suds. Suds may indicate that less detergent is necessary. If the diapers smell, slightly increase the detergent and/
or increase water level.

                                     Garden Diapers Washing/Care Guide
First Things First: Take a look at the detergent that you are planning to use. You will want one that has no
heavy perfumes (you don't need any detergent smell to cover up odors) and no added fabric softeners (like
Dreft). You also do not want to use laundry soap. The added fabric softeners, brighteners and enzymes in any
laundry soap or detergent can cause the diapers to become moisture repellent (not what you want in a cloth
diaper). We do not recommend using any detergents or soaps that are not made for washing clothing or washing
your diapers in any appliances that are not made for washing clothing.

No fabric softeners! No sheets, no liquid, none added to your detergent.
Initial Set up: All diapers need to be washed (with detergent) and dried at least twice before they become
absorbent. Unbleached, bamboo and natural diapers will need to be washed more often in hotter (sometimes
boiling water will need to be tossed on them) before they will be absorbent enough for use. Try dropping a few
drops of water on your dry washed diapers. If the water does not absorb immediately, the diapers are not ready
for use and need to be washed more. Microfiber does not behave in this way and water may bead briefly on a
functional microfiber diaper.
Diapers and/or covers stink or not working as well as they used to? Detergent residue is often the culprit.
Especially if your diapers and covers have some poly in them, at one point you are going to have to strip your
diapers. If recommended by the cover or diaper manufacturer wash in hot water, otherwise wash in the warmest
water recommended - do not use detergent. Wash again using either 1/4 cup baking soda or 1/4 vinegar (usually
you want to use vinegar as it helps break down detergent residue). Using both vinegar and baking soda at once
has no purpose as you are creating a neutral PH when you combine them. Wash again using hottest water
possible. If your diapers or covers smell like vinegar, run them through a wash with 1/4 cup baking soda and an
additional wash with nothing added. Dry as usual. Test your covers and diapers by using them. For future
washings use the lowest amount suggested of a recommended detergent.

Toss that smell a curve ball: It is best to wash your diapers every two or three days.
Prefolds - If you can't do a complete wash cycle with your prefolds, run them through a cold rinse and stick
them back in the pail for washing later. Prefolds can occasionally be bleached (like every six months), but better
than bleach is to use Oxyboost cleaner (OK for prefolds and most diapers without elastics).
All-in-Ones and fitted diapers really need to be washed at least every three days maximum. Every two days is
better. Most should never have bleach used on them. BumGenius' manufacturer does recommend a small amount
of bleach on a monthly basis only. Oxyboost can be used occasionally.
Too much detergent - Detergent needs to be completely rinsed out of all diapers each time. Some detergents
leave residue (like brighteners and stain guards) on purpose so that your clothes look cleaner. Detergent residues
can build up will trap old odors and that wonderful smell will be released when your baby pees. Only use half
the recommended amount of detergent for one wash cycle and run the diapers through a complete cycle without
any detergent (you can add a 1/4 vinegar to help break up the detergent). Check the diaper load when you
haven't added any detergent. If there is foam on top, the diapers have detergent residue built up on them. Run
them through another cycle until there is no foam on top. Some detergents that are formulated with brighteners
will leave a residue that will not give you that foamy look when washed without detergent.

Did you use any diaper rash ointment? Many diaper rash treatments leave an old oil smell. Soak your diapers
overnight. It will take several more washings to totally get rid of that smell. Next time use Bum Bum Balm.

Dry those diapers out in the sun with a short trip in the dryer afterward. Or put in the dryer until half dry and
                                               real .. hand.

them dry the rest of the way in the sun for a 33
White Vinegar - Any laundry additive should be added for a reason - check with the diaper manufacturer before
washing with any additive. The Ph of vinegar is about 4 and the Ph of Ammonia (a main component or urine) is
about 10. So adding vinegar should balance the Ph in the wash. It will make it harder for your detergent to work if
you lower the Ph too much however. Just try 1/4 cup at first, you can always add more, but the smell of too much
vinegar can be as hard to get out as too much ammonia. If you have got a detergent build up on your diapers you
can use vinegar to help get rid of all of that detergent. Put some in a one of those Downey balls so that it releases
the vinegar in the rinse cycle. Not recommended with microterry products.
Baking Soda Check with the diaper manufacturer before washing with any additive. Baking soda has a Ph of about
8, so adding it to your laundry will tend to keep the Ph level above neutral. That can be a great thing for killing
germs. Baking soda also softens your water to allow your detergent to work better. You can soak your diapers and
most knit covers in water and 1/4 cup baking soda in the washing machine overnight to help with cleaning. Not
recommended with microterry products.
Kissaluvs Potion Concentrate- has tea tree oil to help eliminate germs and odors. A couple of drops goes a long
Tea Tree Oil - You can use a very small amount on cotton, hemp or bamboo diapers. Not recommended for use
with pocket diapers or diaper covers.
Garden Diapers Note: Some (but not all) products allow for use of additives in the wash cycle. Check with the
diaper/cover manufacturer for more information.

In-between baby and the wash - Storing your dirty diapers so that no one in the house passes out. -
The wet pail - Keeping your diapers soaking in water is not necessary to keep them clean. A pail full of water can
be a safety hazard to small children. The pail also has be on the small side or you will not be able to lift it. If you to
soak, don't use detergent or bleach in the water and make sure that the lid on your pail locks. You can add a couple
of drops of Kissaluvs Concentrate or a tablespoon or two of a bleach alternative (Oxyboost) to the water.
The dry pail - Just dump any loose solids in the toilet. Keeping the covers separate from the diapers will help with
the longevity of the waterproof materials on the covers. It will also help if you run out of covers and need find a
dirty cover to wash. All of your covers and diapers can be sprayed with BumGenius Diaper Spray to naturally
reduce odors. On wash day dump in your washing machine. If you can do a soak in cold water before you do a
complete wash cycle - great!
Try cloth wipes: If you use disposable wipes, you will wash one or two. Some disposable wipes will make it
through the wash without falling apart. Others will give you a nice shredded tissue like mess to pick through. Save
yourself a ton of time (and lint) by using cloth wipes. Easy to use with Kissaluvs Diaper Lotion Potion.
Washing methods will depend on the diaper type.
All-in-Ones, Contour and Fitted Diapers: Wash and dry your new diapers a couple of times before using them,
fasten the tabs before washing. Kissaluvs, like all unbleached cotton products, need to be washed more than
bleached fabrics to get the fabric to absorb properly. For Kissaluvs the manufacturer recommends at least four
washes (dry between loads) in hot water before the fist use. Bamboo diapers may need up to ten wash/dry cycles
before they become fully absorbent although you can use them after two/three washes. Kissaluvs will continue to
get more absorbent the more that they are washed (up to about ten washings). After they get "used" dump out any
solids into the toilet and toss the diaper into the diaper pail. Presoaking not recommended. When I am ready to
wash, I dump the pail into the washer and run a cold rinse cycle. After the rinse cycle I run a complete wash cycle
with detergent with some baking soda in warm water. You can use almost any detergent in moderation. We do
recommend that you use a detergent that leaves no residue. I do not recommend Dreft or any of the made for baby
detergents. They leave a fabric softener type coating on the fabric. Then I run an extra wash cycle with no detergent
or additives to get out all of the detergent (I have found that it is best to use half the amount of detergent that is
recommended). Don't use any fabric softeners, it will probably irritate your baby's bottom, it will harm the
waterproofing on the All in One Diapers and it will reduce the absorbency of the diapers. Most should never have
bleach used on them. BumGenius' manufacturer does recommend a small amount of bleach on a monthly basis
only. Dry AIO diapers, fitted and contours on medium. If you are washing disposable liners (all disposable liners
cannot be washed as some fall apart, please see the individual product details for more information), remember not
to put the liners in the dryer. If you do line dry, put the diapers in the dryer for a couple of minutes to fluff them up
first before hanging them on the line.

Pre-folds (cotton and hemp): Your new cotton diapers look and feel stiff. Wash and dry your new diapers three
times before using them and they will quilt up into thick fluffy diapers. They will shrink most after the first two
washes, and slightly more for a few more washings. The unbleached and hemp diapers have to be washed with
detergent in very hot water; you can also pour some boiling water over them. Wash them with detergent right after
they get in the boiling water. Please be careful when using and transporting boiling water and remember, you are
doing it at your own risk. If you have a smaller capacity washer, don’t overload it with unbleached diapers when
you are getting them set up, they need some room to agitate. They have a light wax coating on the threads that
need to be removed for them to work well. Soaking them overnight with detergent may help also. Unbleached
diapers take longer to shrink than the bleached diapers and may have some fuzz on them for the first few months
of use. After they get used, dump out any solids into the toilet and toss the diaper into the diaper pail with some
vinegar. When you are ready to wash, toss the diapers in the washing machine and run a cold rinse. After the rinse
cycle I run a complete wash cycle with detergent with some baking soda in hot water (if your need your diapers to
smell better - such as after a bout with some nasty stomach illness - let them soak in detergent overnight). You can
add some baking soda – it helps to whiten the diapers and soften the water. Vinegar can be added to the rinse to
help break down any detergent that remains in the diapers. Oxyboost can be used with really good results. I added
about a tablespoon to a warm wash. Follow that with a hot wash or hot rinse. You can use almost any detergent in
moderation, but a detergent that leaves no residue is your best choice. I do not recommend Dreft or any of the
made for baby detergents. They leave a fabric softener type coating on the fabric. Then I run an extra wash cycle
with no detergents or additives to get out all of the detergent. Don't use any fabric softeners, it will probably
irritate your baby's bottom and it will reduce the absorbency of the diapers. I dry prefolds and on hot. If you are
washing disposable liners, remember not to put the liners in the dryer. If you do line dry, put the diapers in the
dryer for a couple of minutes to fluff them up. If you need to, prefolds can be bleached. I only recommend
bleaching every four to six months. Just make sure you run the diapers through another wash cycle to get the
bleach out. Constant bleaching will reduce the life of the diapers.

Diaper wraps: Don't store the used covers in the same pail with the used diapers. The elastic and waterproof
laminates will last longer. Wash them every two or three days to help keep stains and odors at bay. Your velcro
covers will stay good looking and work better if they are washed separately from the diapers. Lint from the diapers
always gets stuck in the velcro, both on the hook and loop parts. Lint may also be attracted to the fabric of the
Happy Heiny’s. It does not impair the functionality. When enough wraps get dirty, I toss them in the wash on
gentle with warm water and a tiny bit of detergent. After they are done I hang them to dry. If they get stained, use
WashAway Stain Soap or BumGenius Diaper Spray. Leave it on for 30 minutes and wash. You will need to repeat
this a few times to get the stains out. Never use bleach, fabric softeners or pure soap on your covers. Don't dry
your wraps in a hot dryer. The Proraps, Happy Heiny’s and Bummis Super covers can handle a warm dryer, but
the best way to dry your covers is just hang them to dry. They will last longer. Happy Heiny’stake a few hours to
dry when hung, the rest dry in about half an hour.

Training Pants: Wash like an all in one or fitted diaper. (see above)
Front loaders and HE machines - Make sure that your water lever is set as high as possible. You may want to put a
towel in the wash to make the load heavier. An extra rinse is recommended.
At wash time check any diapers or covers with snaps to make sure they are intact. Loose snaps can be a choking

How to Measure for Fitted Diapers, All in Ones and Covers
The rise measurement is from the top front of the diaper (cover) cover to the
top back through the legs. For covers get your best fit by measuring over the
diapers that you want to use. The smallest size legs measurements are taken
with the diaper (cover) closed on its smallest waist setting. The largest leg
measurements are taken with the waist of the cover open at its largest setting.

so that you can be sure that they are all

compare sizes between the brands more
You will get the best fit with a diaper or cover when your baby’s measure-
ments fits all ranges (weight, waist and leg). Make sure that you check the
waist measurement where the diaper/cover that you are looking at would
fall. (So a diaper with a lower rise would be measured lower on the hips.)

How many diapers and covers and other stuff will I need?
The Basics:
  * 24 to 36 cloth diapers * 6 to 8 diaper covers * Diaper Pail
 * 1 to 3 Pocket Diapers for nighttime or for use with a sitter. * 12 to 24 cloth wipes * 12 to 18 liners for more
absorbency. May only be needed at night or for heavy wetters. * Disposable liners for easier clean up.
But how many diapers and covers do I really need?
Newborns need to be changed 10-12 times a day and will usually need a cover change with each diaper change.
Toddlers may only need to changed 6-8 times and you will probably be able to wipe and reuse the cover.
Diapers should be washed every 2-3 days. You may want to get a few more diapers for extras when you don't
have time to wash or if you want to leave a few in the car or diaper bag.
For children of all ages you need to figure out how often that you want to wash. You can run a rinse cycle in-
between washes to extend the time. Most diapers should not sit for more than three days in the pail without be-
ing washed. You also need to keep in mind that the longer that you go between washes the bigger a diaper pail
that you are going to need. Also make sure that you add a couple of extra diapers for the diaper bag in the car.
Fleece stay dry liners to keep your baby away from moisture can be a nice addition at any stage.
Newborns— Your newborn will need to be changed 10-12 times a day. You will need a fresh diaper with each
change and approximately a new cover every 2 out of three changes with prefolds and contours. For fitted dia-
pers you will need a fresh cover about every other change. So to wash every other day you would need 24 dia-
pers + 2 or 3 for the diaper bag = 27 diapers. If you are using prefolds you will need about 16 covers for fitted
diapers about 12. Most people wash the covers more often than the diapers and get away with using about 8 co-
vers for with prefolds and 6 with fitted diapers. Happy Heiny’s and bumGenius (any pocket diapers) need to be
changed each time.
The disposable liners are a matter of preference. Disposable liners can be handy with keeping some of the
breastfed poop from sticking to the diapers and they do act as a stay dry barrier.
You won’t need any extra absorbency for most newborns. They need to be changed quite often since they poop a
Older Babies— Your three to twelve month old does not need to be changed as often as a newborn since they
generally don’t poop as much. You will need about 6-8 diapers and 3-4 cover each day.
You may find that you need a little extra absorbency during this time and usually at night. The Kushies liners
add a little more absorbency and you can use a couple of them at once. If you want to use a thicker liner like the
Kissaluvs Super Soaker or the Bumkins fold over liners make sure that your baby has plenty of room in their
cover. Babies at this age will start to need a nighttime diapering solution. Happy Heiny’s and bumGenius are
great and can be used with prefolds, micro terry inserts or Babykicks Hemp inserts. If your older baby drinks a
lot at night, you will have to change them at least once. The most absorbent diaper that you are going to find will
hold up to 14 ounces of liquid. If your baby drinks more than that throughout the night... well you can probably
guess what will happen.
Toddlers– If your baby is really active, your baby’s covers are loose fitting and you are using a prefold you may
need to use a Snappi to keep the diaper in place at this stage. Fitted diapers can be nice at this stage (Kissaluvs)
since they stay in place as you baby runs around. As your baby starts eating more solid foods and drinking less,
you may find that you only need to change their diaper 4-6 times a day. Some moms can get by with using only
two covers per day at this stage (plus one for nighttime). Nighttime diapering suggestions are the same as for an
older baby above.
The disposable Imse Vimse liners are nice at this stage. They are a stay dry liner and most poop will fall off of
them into the toilet. They can also be washed and reused a few times before they fall apart.

                                             Washing at a laundromat
Diapers - You will probably want to get more diapers than recommended above. It's a balance between not going
to the laundromat often and not having your dirty diapers sitting around so long that you can't get them clean. I
recommend using prefolds since they are the easiest to keep clean and can be bleached occasionally and washed in
hot water regularly. We recommend a dozen diapers per day for newborns and 6-8 diapers per day for infants and
toddlers. A diaper sprayer is recommended to get as much off the diaper as possible before putting it in the pail.
Covers - We recommend covers that can be easily wiped out and reused. Covers that dry quickly can be washed in
the sink and hung to dry. You will probably want two more covers than listed above. Bummis Super Brite, Proraps
and Bumkins can all be wiped out and reused. Bumkins covers dry more quickly than the others.
On wash day run your diapers and covers through a cold wash. Take the covers out to hang dry and wash your dia-
pers on hot.
