6.0 RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

6.1   What are the weightages assigned for sessional /terminal and internal/external
evaluations?

     Laboratory examination-evaluated externally and internally

       Theory papers-intermittent internal assessment at regular intervals and terminal/ university
       examination
(i). According to 2000 Admission: (Minimum for a pass)

              A candidate who secure not less than 40% marks in a subject at the University
examinations and not less than 50% of the total marks assigned to the subjects, which includes the
marks assigned to University examinations and internal assessment, shall be declared to have
passed the examinations in that subjects. A candidate who secured not less than 50% marks in a
subject at the University examinations also shall be declared to have passed the examinations in
that subject.

(ii). According to 2004 Admission: (Minimum for a pass)

              A candidate who secure not less than 40% marks in a subject at the University
examinations and not less than 50% of the total marks assigned to the subjects, which includes the
marks assigned to University examinations and internal assessment, shall be declared to have
passed the examinations in that subjects. A candidate who secured not less than 60% marks in a
subject at the University examinations also shall be declared to have passed the examinations in
that subject.

iii) University Practical Examination

        The award of marks is as follows:
             Fair record: 10%
             Viva Voce: 20%
             Procedure and tabular form, conducting, result and inference: 70%

6.2   What are the constituents of sessional work? How do you assess them?
      Currently there are two syllabi, running (2000 & 2004)

For 2000 Syllabus, the constituents of sessional marks as follows:
      As a current practice maximum marks for internal assessment is 50.
The break up for sessional mark:
      1) Test papers: minimum two                                        -          30 marks
      2) Assignments/term project/any other mode decided by the teacher -           20 marks

For 2004 Syllabus, the constituents of sessional marks as follows:
(i) Theory Papers
     The weightages to award internal assessment marks are as follows:
              60% - test papers (minimum 2)
              30% - assignments
              10% - Other measures like regularity and participation in class

(ii) Practical Examination
          The award of marks in the Practical examination is as follows:
                Fair record: 10%
                Viva Voce: 20%
                Procedure and tabular form, conducting, result and inference: 70%

6.3 How is the work experience /practical training / field work given due consideration in assessing
the students performance?
       Though the syllabus prescribed by the university does not insist all these, the college
provides training in computer skills, seminar presentations, term projects for incorporating
practical aspects and need of the industry.
