The first GU-Madison employees help document the construction of their new campus.

Students Collect 3,200 Food Items
for Those in Need

                                                                    The food drive was a great way for students to come
                                                                    together to help those in the community during a time of
                                                                    need. This was a totally selfless act of kindness which most
                                                                    people aren’t used to doing. Each student had to write
                                                                    a reflective paper on what impact the food drive had on
                                                                    them. Personally, I enjoyed being able to offer my hand
                                                                    to those in need. Part of my happiness during the holiday
                                                                    season is being able to eat whatever I want. I’m glad I
                                                                    could give that opportunity to those who can only rely
                                                                    on donations. I noticed everyone working on the project
                                                                    seemed to share in my enthusiasm.

In the beginning of the quarter the classes brainstormed
different ideas on how to accumulate the most items. As a
class, our ambitions for the project grew and we were able
to formulate a plan. The project became like a competition
between the classes to see who could bring in the most
items. For instance, every day of class each student told the
number of items he or she brought in. The numbers were
tallied and after only one month more than 3,200 items
were collected! After the collection portion of the project
was complete, each class began preparing the items for
donation. Each student was involved with putting together

     You maY register for winter quarter classes in one of two easY waYs:

       Online Registration via the Student Portal
        1. Go online and open the Browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
           • MSB students: Go to http://my.msbcollege.edu
           • GU students: Go to http://my.globeunversity.edu
           • Click on Student Portal Homepage
           • Type: First Part of Your Email (Username) Example: jane.doe
           • Type: Last 4 Digits of your Social Security Number (Password)
           • Click Login button

         2. Now that you’re in the portal, you may register in 3 easy steps: Select > View > Register.
            For tutorials on Portal Registration follow these easy steps:
            • Go online and open the Browser of your Choice (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
            • Go to students.msbcollege.edu,
            • Click on Student Services Link
            • Click on Online Student Portal Training
            • Click on the Printable Step-by-Step PDF Files that meets your personal need for
               navigating the Online Student Portal.

     Traditional Registration
         1. Pick up your personal schedule recommendations for Spring Quarter 2010 from your home campus.
         2. Attend an advising meeting during the week of February 16th to help you understand any changes to
            your program and course recommendations selected specifically for you for the upcoming quarter.
         3. Schedule an individual meeting to complete registration anytime during the weeks of
            February 16 – March 5 with an academic advisor or a member of your academic staff.


     The deadline for preferred registration is 12 Noon on Friday, March 5, 2010.

     Students are strongly encouraged to visit with the Financial Aid/Student Accounts departments prior to
     registration to assure that they are in good standing. Students who are not in good standing may experience
     a delay in registration resulting in limited class availability.

 Online Information
                                    Orientation to Online Learning
                                    All first time online students must successfully complete the Orientation to Online Learning course before
                                    starting their first online class. This orientation will teach learners how to use Blackboard, our online learning
                                    management system. The course will be facilitated in Blackboard by the campus Online Learning Coordinator
                                    (OLC) wh o is available to assist you with completing the orientation successfully and preparing you to begin
                                    your first online class. Contact information can be found below.

                                    All students should start the orientation course within 72 hours of receipt of their orientation invitation email
                                    found in their student email account.

                                    You will receive an email at your student email account with information on how to start the online
                                    orientation. Please contact your campus Online Learning Coordinator or the Helpdesk if you need assistance
                                    logging into your student email account. Contact information for the Helpdesk can be found at the end of this
                                    document.



 Online Attendance
 Online courses will be available Monday, April 5th, 2010 at 8:00 AM for students who successfully completed their online orientation

 course. Students must log into each of their online classes within the first 72 hours (three days) of the quarter to validate the accuracy of your
 registration.

 Attendance in online classes is taken Monday through Sunday each week. You must log into each of your online classes in order to show
 attendance. The minimum attendance requirement is 1 day of attendance per week. Perfect attendance for online classes will be measured by a
 minimum of 3 separate days of attendance per week for each week of the quarter. Students who meet the mark in all of their courses (residential
 and online) during the quarter will qualify for the Perfect Attendance award, which includes a certificate and 20% off textbooks charged to
 student accounts in the following quarter.




 Online System Requirements
                                     Online courses require a high level of interaction and participation in the course environment. It is highly

       Software                      Microsoft Office Professional 2007 or 2003 Suite (MS Works, Wordperfect and WordPad are not compatible with

       E-mail Capabilities           An email account through the college email system is provided and required. Details are within the online orientation
                                     course.
       Internet/Computer Access      Students who do not own a computer must have consistent access multiple times per week to a computer that meets

Students need to access Adobe Flash CS3 for this course. The software can be purchased at the online bookstore at a discount.

Students at Globe University-Eau Claire have been busy
giving back to their community through service-learning
projects. During fall quarter 2009, many students chose
to raise funds and awareness for various organizations.
The students organized a fundraising day and a service-
learning day on campus to promote their causes to staff,
faculty and fellow students all in one location.
