Bridges for Peace Australia Chai Prayer Points
‘Chai’ is the Hebrew word for ‘life’ and ‘18’, and so we come together on the 18th of
each month (or as close to then as possible) to pray life for the Lord’s land and people,
and ‘pray for the peace of Jerusalem.’ Please use as a resource the detailed Israel Current News Update & Prayer

Sunday Herald Sun
3 July 2011
Full story: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/arrested- Jewish Labor MP Michael Danby slammed
the protest as stupid. Source: Herald Sun
AN ANTI-Israel attack on a CBD chocolate shop has seen 19 protesters arrested and three police injured.
Members of Socialist Alternative demonstrated at the Max Brenner chocolate and coffee store in Melbourne's QV on
Friday because they said the Jewish-owned franchise company had aided the Israeli Army.
Thirteen men and six women were taken into custody after an altercation with police, with 16 charged and bailed.
Charges included assaulting police, riotous behaviour, besetting premises and trespass.
Jewish Labor MP Michael Danby called the protest stupid.
"These people are prejudiced fanatics who should look into their soul," he said. "While 1500 people are murdered in
Syria, they launch their own sad little attack on a chocolate shop because it also has stores in Israel."
The next ACSI meeting is Thursday 21 July 2011 at 7:30 pm
Beth Weizmann Community Centre, 306 Hawthorn Rd, Caulfield North
Admission is $5 - tea, coffee and snacks are provided

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:“May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say,
“Peace be within you.”
Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.
1. UN Could Begin Discussing Palestinian Statehood This Month
The Palestinians are threatening to go to the United Nations to seek statehood recognition in September, and now the UN Security
Council is expected to begin discussing the statehood matter later this month. Unlike the UN General Assembly, the Security
Council can pass a legally binding resolution on the Palestinian statehood issue. However, the US is expected to veto such a
resolution if necessary.
A press statement posted on the Web site of the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN - the nation holding the Security
Council presidency for July - covering the issues to be discussed by the Council, said the routine Middle East discussion in July is
likely to include the statehood topic.... However, there are efforts to try and get peace talks restarted before the Palestinians go to
the UN.... The US has been meeting with Israel and Palestinian representatives in an effort to jumpstart peace talks....
Excerpts of an article by Joshua Spurlock, BFP Israel Mosaic Radio, July 7, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that the international community would be led with God's wisdom, especially in the upcoming Quartet
meeting. Pray that the UN member-states would see the danger and error of granting the Palestinians statehood recognition and
that they would uphold Israel's right to the Land God gave them.
Scripture - "All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship
before You. For the kingdom is the LORD's, and He rules over the nations" (Psalm 22:27-28).
2. US Senate: Cut Aid If Palestinians Declare State
The US Senate approved a bill Wednesday [June 29] that calls for suspension of American aid to the Palestinian Authority [PA] if
it insists on carrying out a plan to gain UN recognition for its statehood declaration in September. The bill was approved by all 89
senators present. It stipulates that the Senate opposes "any attempt to establish or seek recognition of a Palestinian state outside
of an agreement negotiated between leaders in Israel and the Palestinians."
[Senator Ben] Cardin explained that the Senate has conveyed a clear message to the international community with the bill, which
states that UN recognition of a Palestinian state at this stage does not promote peace. An accord is achievable through
negotiations alone, he said. The bill also "urges the President to consider suspending assistance to the Palestinian Authority
pending a review of the unity agreement between Fatah [Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's party] and Hamas."
Excerpts of an article by Yitzhak Benhorin, Attila Somfalvi contributed, Ynetnews, June 29, 2011
Prayer Focus - Praise God for this strong move from the US Senate! Pray that this will serve as a strong deterrent to the
Palestinians' push to bypass negotiations.
Scripture - "Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever… And gave their land as a heritage,
for His mercy endures forever; a heritage to Israel His servant, for His mercy endures forever" (Psalm 136:1, 21-22).
3. Egyptian Gas Pipeline Blown Up
An explosion on Egypt's natural gas pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula has interrupted the flow to Israel and Jordan for the third time
since February. The flow of gas, which represents 40% of Israel's needs, had resumed only recently after the last blast. This blast
occurred a short distance from the Suez Canal. The contract with Israel has been a controversial issue in Egypt, especially since
the fall of [former-President] Hosni Mubarak. Some contend that the contract fails to uphold the rights of the Egyptian people.
The gas contract has been viewed in Israeli circles as a barometer of future relations with Egypt under its post-Mubarak successor
Excerpts of an article by The Media Line, July 4, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that the natural gas will be restored quickly for Israel and that these attacks will cease. Pray that all the
people in Egypt will have a desire to bless Israel and then do so.
Scripture - "He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me" (Psalm
4. Palestinian College Class, Summer Camp Named after Terrorist
A Palestinian summer camp for children and a girl's college in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] have continued the Palestinian
Authority [PA] policy of presenting terrorist Dalal Mughrabi as a role model for children. Mughrabi in 1978 led the most lethal
terror attack in Israel's history, in which 37 civilians were killed, 12 of them children.
The summer camp for children, of the Fatah [Palestinian political faction of PA President Mahmoud Abbas] youth organization
called "the Lion Cubs and Flowers," was divided into three groups. One was named after terrorist Mughrabi and the two others
were named after Yasser Arafat and Abu Jihad, the terrorist leader who planned Mughrabi's bus hijacking. Also reported in the
official PA daily was a description of the graduation ceremony at the Al-Tireh Girls' College in Ramallah for the current
graduating class, likewise named after terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.
Excerpts of an article by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, Palestinian Media Watch, July 5, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that the world will see Palestinian incitement and glorification of terrorism for what it is. Pray that the
Palestinians would repent of their hatred and violence.
Scripture - "Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will
of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence" (Psalm 27:11-12).
5. Hizbullah Moving Missiles from Syria to Lebanon
The French newspaper Le Figaro is reporting that Hizbullah is moving its missile arsenal from Syria to Lebanon as a precaution
against the possible fall of its patron, Syrian President Bashar Al-Asad. The report, citing an unidentified "Western expert,"
identified the missiles as Iranian-made Fajr 3s and Fajr 4s. The paper reports Hizbullah is concerned that the moving process by
truck will expose the missiles to Israeli surveillance satellites. The report reiterates concerns for the American government in light
of the involvement of Hizbullah in the new Lebanese government.
On Friday [June 24], Hizbullah chief Sheikh Nasrallah admitted in a televised speech that his group was infiltrated by CIA agents.
He claimed the CIA became involved when Israel itself was unable to penetrate Hizbullah. There is no confirmation from the
U.S. or Israel that any of those arrested had any links to the respective governments.
Excerpts of a report by The Media Line, June 26, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that all subversive moves such as these will be brought to the light. Pray for Israel's security forces as they
make plans to counter all threats against the country.
Scripture - "For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me"
6. Iran Shows Off Missile Silos that Target Israel, U.S. Bases
Iranian state television on Monday [June 27] broadcast footage of missile silos with the claim that medium and long-range Shihab
missiles are "ready to hit pre-determined targets." The presumed targets within range include most of Israeli and American
military bases located in the Middle East. A spokesman for the Revolutionary Guard, which is responsible for the missile
batteries, said the silos are located throughout the country and cannot be detected by satellite imaging....
On Tuesday [June 28] as ten days of war games got underway, the [Iranian] FARS news agency reported that 14 rockets were
test-fired. The various missiles in the Iranian arsenal were all included, and five were launched simultaneously in one exercise.
On Monday, a Russian deputy foreign minister announced that the 1,000-megawatt Bushehr plant being built by Russia as part of
a [US] $1 billion deal-Iran's first nuclear facility will go online in August.
The Media Line, June 28, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that God's mercy will be upon Israel and the US as Iran continues to become a more powerful enemy. God
never slumbers or sleeps, so pray that He will graciously keep Israel and the US ever alert.
Scripture - "Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will
make my refuge, these calamities have passed by" (Psalm 57:1).
7. Kidnapped Soldier Gilad Shalit Marks Five Years in Captivity
Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit - kidnapped by Gaza terrorists in a cross-border raid and held by Hamas since June 25,
2006 - marked his fifth year in captivity on Saturday [June 25]. Hamas has refused to grant the Red Cross access to Shalit and has
not granted a verifiable proof of life of the captive soldier since a video released in 2009. Last Friday [June 24], several
organizations associated with human rights blasted the Gaza terror group for its handling of Shalit.
"Those holding him have refused to allow him to communicate with his family, nor have they provided information on his well-
being and the conditions in which he is being held...." The statement concluded by saying the Hamas authorities in Gaza "must
immediately end the cruel and inhuman treatment of Gilad Shalit. Until he is released, they must enable him to communicate with
his family and should grant him access to the International Committee of the Red Cross."
Joshua Spurlock, BFP Israel Mosaic Radio, June 26, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that the international community will rise up with a single voice for Gilad's release. Pray for Gilad's health
and safety and for a miraculous release or escape.
Scripture - "Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down; deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword" (Psalm 17:13).
8. Israeli Seminar Presents Alternative to the Two-State Solution
A recent Israeli seminar focused on presenting an alternative to the two-state solution that would create a Palestinian state
alongside Israel, instead proposing a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in which Israel maintains control over Judea and
Samaria, also known as the West Bank. One of the panel members was Ambassador (Ret.) Yoram Ettinger, a former consul-
general of the Israeli Consulate in Houston in the US and now the CEO of Second Thought: A US-Israel Initiative. Speaking with
Bridges for Peace in an interview, Ettinger slammed the land-for-peace concept as unworkable given the circumstances.
Instead, he proposed granting democratic rights to Palestinians in the West Bank while maintaining a peace based on deterrence.
"A two-state solution is a concept detached completely from Middle Eastern reality," said Ettinger.
Excerpts of an article by Joshua Spurlock, BFP Israel Mosaic Radio, June 30, 2011
Prayer Focus - Pray that this alternative plan will gain impetus so a two-state solution will be derailed. Pray that Israeli Arabs -
and even Palestinians living in the West Bank who want to enjoy the benefits of Israeli sovereignty - will let their voices be heard.
Scripture - "'And it shall be that in whatever tribe the stranger dwells, there you shall give him his inheritance,' says the Lord
GOD" (Ezekiel 47:23).
The 2011 Flotilla II: 9 Basic Facts - adapted from www.flotillafacts.com (StandWithUs)
Praise God for the failure of the planned flotilla and subsequent “flightilla” - pray that Israel’s enemies will continue to be thwarted
1. The flotilla organizers blatantly violate international law by trying to breach a legal maritime blockade. According to
international and customary law, Israel has the legal right to impose a land and naval blockade on Hamas-controlled Gaza.
2. The flotilla organizers intend to aid and support Hamas, which is designated a terrorist organization by members of the
3. The flotilla organizers are trying to provoke a violent confrontation. If they were sincerely concerned about humanitarian
aid for Gazans, they would deliver it through official Israeli entry points.
4. Gazans are not facing a humanitarian emergency that justifies breaching the blockade. Humanitarian and consumer goods
enter Gaza on a daily basis. UN officials repeatedly confirm that there is an ample supply of food and consumer goods.
5. Hamas, not Israel, has caused the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. Hamas has chosen war against Israel instead of peaceful
6. Flotilla organizers claim to be “nonviolent peace activists” and “human rights activists.” They are not. They are members
of extremist organizations that support terrorist groups and are dedicated to the destruction of Israel.
7. If flotilla organizers really were peace and human rights activists, they would not go to Gaza but to Libya or Syria.
8. The flotilla organizers are violating, not upholding, one of the most fundamental human rights - a nation’s right and
responsibility to protect itself from enemies bent on murdering its citizens and destroying its state.
9. International leaders oppose the flotilla.

"My dream is not to go to bed hungry, to stop hearing my mother cry, and to stop being destroyed daily by pain."
The little girl was picking up food supplied by Bridges for Peace when she spoke these words. She lives in Dimona, a
southern Israeli desert town where many are economically depressed. I wish that she was unique, but unfortunately in
the midst of Israel, a country which is prospering in many sectors, 25% of the population live in poverty, and nearly half
a million are in dire poverty like this little girl and her family.
Michael survived the Holocaust. Now he is old and needs help. He comes into our Jerusalem center to receive food. As
he was leaving recently, he said this: "When I was young, my family had to flee from the terror of the Nazis; we found
shelter from a Christian family. And once again, now that I am old, I am receiving aid from Christians! Thank you,
Rebecca J. Brimmer - International President and CEO
