The Alliance is enabling both partners to grow in emerging
markets. The Alliance already has significant investments
in China through Nissan and Dongfeng, in India with Renault
and Mahindra & Mahindra and in Russia with Renault and
Avtoframos. On February 29, 2008, Renault signed an
agreement to take a 25 percent stake in AvtoVAZ of Russia,
whose manufacturing capacities will allow for production
of over 750,000 cars annually. Nissan is building a plant
in St. Petersburg to start operation in 2009.

In Tangier, Morocco, the Alliance and the Kingdom
of Morocco agreed in 2007 to develop one of the largest
vehicle manufacturing facilities in the Mediterranean
with an eventual capacity of 400,000 vehicles a year.

In Chennai, India, Renault and Nissan announced to
build plants in the state of Tamil Nadu, one of the largest
automotive production sites in India with an eventual capacity
of 400,000 units per year.

Both companies in the Alliance will continue to grow through
innovative collaboration, leveraging the expertise of this
uniquely successful partnership for mutual value creation.

                            NISSAN	MANUFACTURING

Nissan	manufacturing	is	closely	linked	with	design,
purchasing	and	supply	chain	management	functions	–
the	entire	scope	of	industrial	activity	–	under	the	monozukuri
umbrella.	Literally	defined	as	“making	things,”	monozukuri
aims	to	create	value	by	reducing	the	total	delivered	cost
of	high-quality	products	to	Nissan’s	customers.

On	the	shop	floor,	the	Nissan	Production	Way	(NPW)
is	employed	to	ensure	that	vehicles	are	built	and	delivered
to	customers	efficiently,	meeting	quality,	cost	and	time
objectives.	NPW	principles	and	systems	have	led	to
Nissan’s	ongoing	ranking	among	the	most	productive
automakers	in	the	global	automotive	industry.

With	the	rising	demand	for	Nissan	products	worldwide,
the	company	has	production	operations	in	many	of	the
world’s	established	markets	and	is	expanding	its
production	footprint	to	establish	or	grow	production
capabilities	in	emerging	markets.	In	China,	since	2003,
Nissan	has	invested	$1.6	billion	in	its	partnership	with
Dongfeng,	with	recent	investments	in	a	new	engine	plant
and	a	new	R&D	center.	A	new	production	facility	is	being
constructed	in	St.	Petersburg,	Russia.	With	its	Alliance
partner,	Renault,	Nissan	is	building	manufacturing	facilities
in	Chennai,	India,	and	Tangier,	Morocco,	with	production

The future sustainable growth of Nissan is based on one
key factor: selling automobiles. But Nissan’s unique product
philosophy dates back 75 years to the very beginning
of the company. The company’s first vehicles symbolized
the rapid advancement of modern Japanese industrialization.
Nissan’s original manufacturing facility was widely considered
to be Japan’s first mass production plant, creating the
foundation for today’s manufacturing innovation and
design leadership.

The Nissan approach to vehicle development begins
with the realization that a car must be more than metal, We set our goals
rubber and fabrics or more than mere transportation.
An automobile represents freedom, self-expression and high, demanding
desire. Nissan’s global product development teams –
designers, engineers and product planners – work closely a seamless
together to blend passion and practicality, creating cars
built to the highest global standards that meet customers’ integration of
unmet needs.

Nissan is deeply committed to delivering personal mobility expressive
that offers innovation and technology with a respect for
protection of the environment. Nissan’s belief that motoring styling, athletic
can be both green and fun is evidenced throughout its
lineup – from the Pivo 2 Concept – an advanced electric performance and
concept car featuring a rotating cabin and compact
lithium-ion batteries – to the Nissan GT-R – a intuitive technology.
multi-dimensional performance machine that lives
up to the promise of “the ultimate supercar.” Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO

The result of Nissan’s unique approach is a lineup
of global vehicles that is bold in design, but tempered by
thoughtfulness. A lineup of cars and trucks that embody
the highest standards in durability, quality and
reliability. A lineup that shares a distinctive
Nissan look and feel.

InfInITI

In 1989, Infiniti was established with an unprecedented goal: to create a line
of luxury performance automobiles that would be as satisfying to drive as they
                were to own.

The Infiniti Total Ownership Experience® begins with the inviting environment
of the Infiniti showroom, extends to the design, craftsmanship and driving
exhilaration of every Infiniti, and continues with the quality service and
complimentary benefits the owner enjoys for years to come.

It’s no wonder Infiniti has earned a reputation for unsurpassed customer
satisfaction, and its line of coupes, sedans, crossovers and sport utility
vehicles has garnered many awards for their luxury and performance.

Today, the Infiniti line consists of six rear-drive based vehicles powered by a
                range of award-winning V6 and high-performance V8 engines: the G sports
coupe and sedan; the M luxury performance sedan; the coupe-inspired EX
crossover and sports car-inspired FX crossovers; and the QX full-size luxury
sport utility vehicle. Each offers its own level of driving pleasure, combined
with stylish designs that are unmistakably Infiniti.

Having firmly established itself in North America, the Infiniti brand now is
expanding worldwide. Sales of Infiniti vehicles started in China, South Korea,
Taiwan and the Middle East in 2005, moved into Russia during 2006, and
will begin in Europe in late 2008.

Drivers all over the globe soon will be able to experience the unique
combination of luxury, performance and customer satisfaction that has
made Infiniti one of the world’s leading automotive marques.

It has been nine years since the announcement of the Nissan Revival Plan.
The entire global design team has taken up the challenge by establishing
a design strategy, unique design vocabularies and three design policies:
Clear, Creative, Consistent. The goal: “Establish a power brand through
world leading design with passion and imagination.” The results: during this
period Nissan Design introduced nearly 100 Nissan and Infiniti concept
and production vehicles to the world. The launch of the new GT-R last year
marked a crowning point, demonstrating what Nissan is capable of not only
in terms of design, but technology and performance leadership as well.
The Nissan brand continues to reach new markets and is currently sold in more
than 190 countries. Infiniti is rapidly growing as a premium brand, thanks to
the introduction of a powerful new range over the past five years and expanding
into markets like China, South Korea, Taiwan, the Middle East, Russia and
Ukraine. This year we are introducing Infiniti to customers in Western Europe.
The Nissan brand has a wide-ranging product line-up, from compact cars
such as Micra and Cube to GT-R and Titan.
Regarding our design expression, we aspire to give uniqueness in each
individual product, but at the same time provide consistency that enables the
customer to instantly recognize the Nissan brand. However, this does not
translate to simply commonizing a single shape. Nissan designers determine
the design values and express them strongly in the individual vehicles, with
the goal of balancing contradicting elements, individuality and consistency to
a high degree.
Examples of our design values are: Provocative Modernity – modernity with a
strong and fresh presence that may create controversy. Energetic Agility – a
design with the sentiment of agility, energy, and passion, like a cheetah at full
speed. Playful Function – not merely functional, but a design that is a joy to
use. We aim to heighten these values and to inspire our customers through
the power of design.

                                                                                    17

In addition to these core values,
we reflect new design ideas
inspired by Japanese culture. The inspiration for the new GT-R was based
on its heritage. However, the design is expressed to demonstrate a new
meaning of the traditional “Super Sports Car” originating from Japan. We
call it simply “Robiotic” (combining Robotic and Biotic). This bold idea has
resonated strongly throughout the world.
For Infiniti, in contrast to Nissan, maintaining consistency is essential. Infiniti
has common design values in the same way as the Nissan brand. We want
customers to immediately recognize an Infiniti at a glance.
Examples of Infiniti design values are: Seductive Luster – elegant charm
wrapped in mystique. Energetic Force – natural dynamism and vibrancy.
Spiritual Precision – the warmth and precision created by human craftsmanship
that goes beyond mechanical exactness. These are all deep-rooted in the
traditional sense of Japanese aesthetics, which are essential elements of a
premium brand with Japanese origins. For example, the Infiniti G37 Coupe’s
lush yet seductive hood shape and fender line with a vibrancy found in nature
are examples of Infiniti design values.
We believe that customer expectations for our designs have reached an
unprecedented level. The goal is to raise the design hurdle to the level
of “Super Evolution” that exceeds customer expectations. The new Nissan
and Infiniti models will most certainly not disappoint.

Technology is the cornerstone of Nissan’s drive toward continuous innovation
and improvement. We see user-friendly technologies as an essential component
of Nissan’s future success, as we enhance the driving and ownership experience,
improve safety, and reduce the environmental impact of our products.

Around View Monitor
The first of its kind, Around View Monitor provides an almost complete,
360-degree view around the vehicle to help make parking easier and nearly
stress free. Utilizing four super-wide cameras positioned around the vehicle
(front, sides and rear), the system displays an image of the vehicle as if seen
from above. Simple and intuitive to use, Around View Monitor provides a visual
guide to the vehicle’s position relative to a parking space, nearby car, the curb,
or obstacles. It also helps the driver position the vehicle for perfect parallel parking.

Scratch Shield
A new paint finish that’s more resistant to scratches, Scratch Shield helps
maintain an “as-new” look much longer than with a conventional clearcoat.
Using a special, highly elastic resin within the clearcoat itself, Scratch Shield
self-repairs fine scratches and swirl marks, restoring the vehicle’s surface
back to its original state. The process takes anywhere from a day to a week,
depending on the depth of the scratch and the ambient temperature. Developed
with Nippon Paint, Nissan holds the patent to this exclusive technology.

Pivo 2 Concept Car
An environmentally compatible urban commuter that embodies Nissan’s concept
of friendly innovation, Pivo 2 features two highly innovative technologies to help
make it enjoyable and convenient anywhere at anytime.
n Research has shown that a happy driver is a safer driver. RA, or Robotic
Agent, is a unique interface between the driver and Pivo 2 that brings trust
and affection. Monitoring the driver’s facial expressions and voice patterns
to establish the driver’s frame of mind, RA interacts with the driver using
speech and gestures to help encourage them into a more positive state.

                                                                                              19

n The Pivo 2’s Metamo System, or variable geometry chassis, enables
independent control of each wheel through the use of in-wheel 3D motors
and X-by-wire technologies. The angles and position of the wheels are
controlled to ensure an even load across the chassis to match driving
conditions, optimizing load distribution and ensuring stability during
acceleration, deceleration, braking and cornering. In addition, the X-by-wire
technology allows easy parallel parking by swiveling the wheels and turning
the cabin to drive in sideways.

VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift System)
Achieving an unprecedented balance of responsiveness and power, fuel
efficiency and low emissions, VVEL continuously alters both lift and timing
on the intake side of the engine:
n Fuel efficiency and engine torque are improved by substantially reducing
intake resistance, which conventionally occurs when the throttle valve
of an engine running at low revs is closed.
n Throttle response is improved by direct control of the intake valve rather
than the throttle valve, as it is in conventional systems.
n By reducing the amount of valve lift when the engine is running at low revs,
the intake flow rate is increased and complete combustion becomes easier.
                 This reduces hydrocarbon emissions.

As an example, the VVEL equipped, U.S.-specification Infiniti G Coupe offers
about a 40-percent reduction in hydrocarbon emissions and a 10-percent
improvement in fuel economy, compared to the previous G Coupe with the
             3.5-liter engine.

             Xtronic CVT
             Offering smoother acceleration and
             uninterrupted delivery of engine power
             for added performance, Nissan has
             continued to perfect Continuously
             Variable Transmission (CVT) technology
since it introduced its first CVT-equipped
production car in 1992. Unlike a
conventional automatic, a CVT has no
need to downshift gears on long, uphill
climbs, and it also provides engine braking on downhill grades for smooth and
stable performance. A CVT also provides extremely smooth performance under
all driving conditions. Adopting CVT on a 2.0-liter car for the first time in 1997,
and becoming the first automaker to match a CVT to a 3.5-liter vehicle in
2003, Nissan now offers a full CVT lineup. Most front-drive Nissan cars and
crossovers now offer Xtronic CVT, making Nissan one of the world’s largest
             providers of this technology.

2.0 dCi (M9R) Diesel Engine
Introduced across Europe in 2007, the M9R diesel engine combines high levels
of power and torque with added refinement and lower running costs. Best of
all, this environmentally friendly engine has dramatically reduced levels of NOx
and particulate matter emissions. Piezoelectric fuel injectors result in faster
operation, greatly improved injection timing and enhanced accuracy of injection
qualities. Combustion efficiency has been improved by raising injection pressures
to extra-high levels (1600 bars), reducing the generation of particulate matter.
And a balancer shaft suppresses vibration and improves engine quietness.

X-by-Wire
Shown for the first time at Nissan 360, the X-by-Wire concept vehicle uses
“by-wire” technology to eliminate conventional mechanical parts, bringing
increased interior space, improved interior and exterior design, and more
functionality.

Through the use of “Steer-by-Wire” and “Brake-by-Wire” technology, the steering
rack can be placed ahead of the engine, and the number of brake parts is reduced,
allowing a much smaller engine compartment. Compared to a conventional front-
engine, front-drive vehicle, the interior volume of the X-by-Wire concept is greatly
increased, and adds a third row of seating, without adding overall vehicle length.

In addition, the X-by-Wire’s instrument panel is very slim, and the steering
wheel can slide away for easier ingress and egress. Its center console can be
positioned in a variety of ways for optimum utility, even moving out of the way
for walk-through capability.

Mixim Concept Vehicle
Designed for technologically savvy drivers who like to be connected 24/7,
the Mixim concept packages electric vehicle (EV) technology in a sleek and
distinctive coupe shape. Its flowing roofline, sharply truncated rear, and a
sweptback, wraparound windscreen that’s inspired by a race helmet visor,
hint at sporting performance unexpected from an EV.

Weighing just 950 kg and powered by Nissan’s “Super Motor” electric motor/
generator utilizing compact lithium-ion batteries, Mixim has unusually rapid
performance combined with an extended range. One Super Motor powers the
front wheels, while a second drives the rear axle, giving Mixim all-wheel drive.

The driver sits centrally, with two seats on either side, while the steering wheel
and controls are inspired by computer game interfaces. An occasional fourth seat
is also housed behind the front seat module. Diamond-shaped styling cues are
found inside and out.

In late 2006, Nissan announced the Nissan Green Program 2010, a comprehensive
mid-term action plan aimed at reducing CO2 emissions from our vehicles, cutting
other emissions to atmospheric levels and recycling to increase resource recovery.

Nissan is taking these actions not only for the current generation, but for
future generations. Nissan has taken a broad-based environmental view
toward developing technologies and vehicles that appeal to a wide variety
of circumstances. Some environmental technologies may be more acceptable
to consumers in certain markets than others.

This approach includes, in the short to mid-term, clean diesel engines,
improvement of conventional technologies to enhance fuel efficiency, hybrid
vehicles using a Nissan proprietary system, vehicles able to use E85 fuel,
and, in the long term, electric and fuel-cell vehicles.

Nissan has achieved a recoverability rate by weight of 95 percent and more in
Japan. And efforts are under way to raise the effective recovery rate globally
for end-of-life vehicles to a target level of 95 percent by weight.

Nissan is paying particular attention to the development of electric vehicles.
These vehicles have zero CO2 emissions, zero particulate pollution, virtually
no noise and are 100 percent gasoline- and diesel-free.

At this point, Nissan plans to have EV demonstration fleets in operation by the
end of 2010 in Japan and the United States and expects to have electric
vehicles commercially available two years later.

The NGP2010 program includes commitments and timelines for activities that
touch all aspects of operations. For example, by the end of 2010, Nissan will:
n Introduce a 3.0 liter car in Japan that would travel 100 km on three liters of fuel
n Introduce to Japan and North America hybrid vehicles using Nissan
                  proprietary technology
n Develop technologies to reduce vehicle weight towards an internal target to
achieve approximately 15 percent average weight reduction by 2015. This
target was set internally to accelerate R&D efforts towards a common and
                  measurable objective

In addition to programs involving vehicles, Nissan is making efforts to reduce
              CO2 emissions from:
n Production facilities by introducing new existing energy-saving activities
                  and enhancing existing ones
n Switching to sea and rail transport as much as possible
n Promoting use of intelligent transportation systems and “eco-driving” habits

Advanced Automotive Safety Systems
Nissan’s Approach to Safety
The world of automotive safety is continuously evolving with new, innovative
technologies emerging every day to help automakers better protect drivers
and reduce traffic fatalities. Nissan remains a leading force in automotive safety
- especially in the development of safety technology – and is continuously
evolving to address changing markets.

As part of its commitment to continuously improve the safety of its vehicles,
Nissan has developed and advanced many pre-crash and crash protection
technologies.

These innovations are part of Nissan’s “Safety Shield” concept, an advanced,
proactive approach to safety issues based on the idea that cars should help
protect people. This approach provides various measures to help the driver
and passengers better avoid dangers in ways that are optimized for a wide
range of circumstances the vehicle may be in, from “risk has not yet
appeared” to “post-crash.”

The following are highlights of Nissan and Infiniti safety technology.

Lane Departure Prevention System (LDP) and Lane Departure
Warning System (LDW)
Nissan’s development of the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system is the
first of its kind in North America and represents the next generation of lane
departure technology. While Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alerts the driver
to pay attention to when the vehicle is getting close to a lane marker, LDP goes
a step further by using the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system to assist the
driver in maintaining lane position if they inadvertently start to drift out of the lane.

                                                                                            23
Nissan 360

Like the LDW system, LDP uses a camera unit mounted behind the rearview
mirror to detect lane markers in front of the vehicle and calculates its position
relative to the lane markers. When the vehicle is getting close to the lane
markers as a result of driver inattention, a judgment is then made to whether
the vehicle is moving out of the lane (depending on the distance and lateral
velocity to the lane), then the system warns the driver to pay attention to
driving by a display and audible buzzer. If the driver does not respond, the
system then assists him/her to return the vehicle in the direction of the center
of the travel lane by generating part of the necessary yaw movement.

The LDW system is temporarily disabled by driver activation of the vehicle’s
turn signals, which informs the system’s control unit of intended lane changes.
The system also features a manual cancel switch that allows the driver to turn
the system off when desired and automatically resets when the vehicle is restarted.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) System
The Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system will warn the driver with a
warning light and chime when the driver’s vehicle is getting close to the
vehicle ahead in the travel lane.

Distance Control Assist (DCA)
Distance Control Assist (DCA) uses sensors to detect the distance to an
object ahead. If activated, DCA will display a warning and sound an alert to
the driver and move the accelerator pedal up against the driver’s foot. If the
driver is not applying throttle, DCA will gently apply the brakes to help
encourage deceleration.

Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) System
Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) system warns the driver with a warning light and
chime when there is a risk of collision with the vehicle ahead in the travel lane
and the driver must take avoidance action immediately. The system helps
reduce a rear-end collision speed by applying the brakes when it judges
collision can not be avoided.

                                                                                          safeTY

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
Nissan’s stability control feature, known as Vehicle Dynamic Control, or VDC,
helps improve vehicle stability during understeer, oversteer or adverse road
conditions. The system automatically helps the driver maintain control by
engaging brake pressure and/or engine torque automatically.

VDC helps control lateral skids on slippery or dry road surfaces by detecting
and correcting understeer and oversteer conditions. The VDC system electronically
monitors vehicle speed and direction, and compares the vehicle’s direction
of travel with the driver’s steering, acceleration and braking inputs. VDC can
use throttle intervention and/or apply individual wheel braking to help control
a discrepancy between where the driver is steering and where the vehicle is
heading. The system integrates traction control to limit spinning of the drive
wheels on slippery surfaces.

Seat Belt Technology
Nissan seat belt technology is led by “pre-crash” front seat belts, which gently
tighten under emergency braking or maneuvers and then releases tension if
braking stops and no impact occurs. Also standard are three point Automatic
Locking Retractor (ALR) and Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat belts
(driver’s side ELR only) and front seat belts with pretensioners, load limiters
and adjustable upper anchors. The Infiniti QX features dual pretensioners,
one located in the buckle and the other in the shoulder belt in the front seat to
help enhance the seat belt system’s overall protection.

Vehicle-Infrastructure Integration (VII)
Nissan is currently partnering with federal and state governments and other
automotive manufacturers to develop this advanced technology that could help
increase vehicle safety and mobility, reduce traffic congestion and enhance
the overall driving experience. In Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan, Nissan is
actively working on field trials of several applications of intelligent transportation
systems (ITS), including intersection collision avoidance, signal violation
avoidance, intelligent speed assistance, pedestrian position detection,
and dynamic route guidance.

The light commercial vehicle (LCV) initiative represents one of Nissan’s
newest and most prosperous stories. While Nissan’s experience in building
and selling LCVs is rich, it is only during the Nissan Value-Up business plan
that LCVs truly began their growth trajectory.

Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn named expansion of the company’s
LCV business one of the breakthrough commitments under Nissan Value-Up
             – pledging to grow sales volume by 40 percent while doubling profit margin
to 8 percent by the end of the 2007 fiscal year. Last year, Nissan announced
that the LCV business unit achieved its Value-Up commitments one year
ahead of schedule, a commitment that now has been surpassed, through the
achievement of global sales volume of 490,000 units.

The strategy for success was diverse – from new product development,
launching nine new vehicles since 2004, to the creation of a global light-duty
truck platform, to the sale of Nissan-produced LCVs to other prominent
global truck makers. Nissan LCVs currently are in 57 percent of world
markets, including Japan, China, Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East.

Today promises to be only the beginning: Nissan’s vision for growth in LCVs
strives for attaining a leading position in the global LCV market in 2010. The
“LEAP” Agenda for growth calls for: Launching new products; Enhancing
quality; Accessing new territories; and Promoting partnerships.

As Nissan launches new products, the LCV line-up will remain within the limit
of 8-ton gross vehicle weight, to ensure the company remains focused on key
capabilities. As is true throughout Nissan, maintaining the highest standard of
quality will continue to be a driving force throughout the life of the vehicle,
from engineering and manufacturing, to sales and after-sales service. And as
Nissan seeks out new markets for LCVs, it also will continue to explore OEM
partnerships, through collaborations based on a common trust for the benefit
of the two companies. This “win-win” spirit reflects the mindset that lies at the
             heart of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

The exciting driving experience found in every Nissan and Infiniti vehicle
worldwide starts from the bottom up with their innovative platforms. In recent
years, Nissan has improved design and manufacturing efficiencies by
developing platforms that are versatile, advanced, sophisticated and highly
capable. In 1999, for example, Nissan’s global platform lineup included 24
individual platforms, with only one single platform accounting for more than
300,000 annual production units. The top five platforms accounted for 62
percent of total production. By fiscal year 2005, the number of platforms was
reduced to 15, with the top five accounting for 91 percent of total vehicle
production. Going forward, the target is to reduce the number to 10 shared
platforms by 2010.

The new D Platform is an example of Nissan’s advanced platform philosophy,
which incorporates the entire architecture of the vehicle – including
suspension design, modularity and assembly sequence. This holistic
approach allows the use of specific shared components, and offers the
flexibility to give each vehicle built on a specific platform its own unique
personality. As a result, vehicles as diverse as the sporty Altima Coupe and
the Murano crossover are built on the same platform yet maintain distinct
drive characteristics.

The front engine, front-wheel-drive B-platform is the most widely used
platform in terms of volume. It is utilized with both gasoline and diesel engine
applications and offers highly efficient packaging with spacious interiors and
minimal exterior dimensions. Key vehicles built on this platform include the
Cube, Cube Cubic, March, Micra, Bluebird Sylphy, Tiida and Versa.

Nissan C-Platform
The C-platform is a transverse front engine, front-wheel or all-wheel-drive
platform that uses both gasoline and diesel engine applications and offers
manageable exterior size combined with generous interior dimensions. Key
vehicles on this platform include the Lafesta, Qashqai, Rogue, Sentra,
Serena, and X-TRAIL.

Nissan D-Platform
The D-Platform (previously FF-L for Front-engine, Front-drive, Large) package
provides for a spacious cabin and body size, enabling excellent handling
while minimizing the space needed for the engine and transmission. Key
vehicles built on this platform include the Altima, Altima Coupe, Maxima,
Murano, Presage, Quest and Teana.

            Nissan F-Alpha Platform
The truck platform’s basic architecture supports the Nissan global truck line-up,
including Armada, Titan, and Infiniti QX, as well as the Frontier, Pathfinder
and Xterra. Designed from the outset to accommodate a wide range of
global market needs, F-Alpha is based on the latest available materials and
construction technology – including the application of high-strength steel,
which is optimized to provide the necessary strength and weight reduction.

The F-Alpha’s fully boxed frame rail design provides a rugged modular
“backbone.” The front inner section is common among all applications, while
the middle section (under the passenger area) length varies depending on
wheelbase. The rear section is unique depending on rear suspension
application. This approach accommodates a wide variety of engine
            applications and suspension designs.

            Nissan E-Platform
The E-Platform (formerly FR-L for Front-engine, Rear-drive, Large and FM for
Front Mid-ship) packages provide a compact body and large cabin, with a
sporty driving feel and comfortable ride. The platform specifically is designed
for mounting a V6 or V8 engine behind the front axle in the “front mid-ship”
position. The positioning of the engine is key to the high level of driving
performance found in vehicles including the Skyline/G Sedan and G Coupe
by providing an optimized front-to-rear weight balance and also allowing the
designers to push the wheels out to the car’s corners for better interior space
utilization. Key vehicles built on this platform include the FX, EX, M, Stagea,
            Skyline, G Coupe, G Sedan and 350Z/Fairlady Z.

            Nissan PM Platform
To meet the extraordinary performance requirements of the Nissan GT-R,
Nissan created the new Premium Mid-ship (PM) platform. The platform
features unique hybrid construction with die cast aluminum, carbon fiber and
both lightweight and advanced steels. As with the E Platform, the engine is
located behind the front axle for enhanced weight distribution but to enhance
this even further the transmission and all-wheel-drive system are located in an
independent rear transaxle adjacent to the rear axle. This arrangement allows
this platform to provide superb high speed stability, incredible handling,
excellent ride quality for a performance car, and top levels of safety. The only
vehicle currently built on this platform is the Nissan GT-R.

                                ®

in 1969 with a list price of $3,526 (USD). The evolution of the Z continued for more than 26 years before retiring
in 1996. But not for long. In 2002, Nissan brought back the famous sports car. Since 1969, the Z has sold more
than 1,000,000 cars.
The 2008 Nissan 350Z continues to offer sports car lovers high performance excitement and a dynamic driving

History: For the first time in the Nissan Z’s 37-year history, a high-performance NISMO 350Z is part of the
Z lineup, with an extensively developed list of unique equipment.
The NISMO 350Z’s aerodynamics package strongly resembles the Super GT championship winning Zs, with an
aggressive front fascia with chin spoiler, side skirts, an extended rear fascia with underbody diffuser and a rear wing.
This package produces additional aerodynamic down-force for enhanced cornering and handling performance.
Additional performance features include a specially tuned independent multi-link suspension, Brembo brakes with
four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers and NISMO-branded gunmetal gray RAYS super lightweight forged-
alloy wheels. A special NISMO-branded tuned exhaust adds an even more authoritative tone to the Z’s standard
306-horsepower VQ35HR V6 engine.
The NISMO 350Z is the fifth model in the 350Z Coupe lineup and is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Notes: n The NISMO 350Z is a limited edition 350Z model with sales of less than 10 percent of total 350Z
sales over its entire two year lifecycle.

Specifications are based on North American models and may vary in other markets.

History: The all-new 2009 Nissan GT-R, the fifth-generation of the legendary Nissan supercar, made its
worldwide debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007 followed by the North American debut at the
2007 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
GT-R is a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of “the ultimate supercar that can
be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere” and achieved a lap time of 7:38 around the famed Nürburgring
Nordschleife, one of the fastest times achieved by a production-spec vehicle to date.
Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 producing 480 horsepower and 430
lb-ft of torque (estimated), while meeting ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) standards. The engine is backed by an
all-new, paddle-shifted, sequential 6-speed dual clutch rear transaxle.
The new Nissan GT-R is built on an exclusive all-new Premium Midship platform. This new platform enables
the use of a world’s first independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system, which places the
transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, optimizing weight distribution and maximizing
handling capability.

History: Maxima first arrived in the U.S. in 1981, essentially creating the “mid-size import sedan” category that it
has dominated ever since. The 2009 Nissan Maxima, which made its world debut at the 2008 New York
International Auto Show, marks the seventh generation of Nissan’s flagship sedan. Designed as a commanding
four-door sports car, Maxima is unique in both appearance and driving feel, with renewed relevance for today’s
active and ambitious sedan buyers. The all-new 2009 Maxima is scheduled to arrive at Nissan dealers in the
United States in early summer 2008.
Notes: The 2004 Maxima features a SkyView™ glass panel roof running lengthwise over the front and
rear seats, while a new Elite Package includes a fixed, full center console that creates true
4-place seating. Maxima’s name in some GOM countries is Teana.

History: First launched in 1982, the Micra is now in its third generation and has fast become the best-selling
Nissan car in Europe. Over 1.3 million units of the previous Micra have been sold between 1993 and 2002.
Micra’s B-platform is the first ever to be shared within the framework of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
Notes: Since its launch in 2003, Micra has been a favorite across Europe. It remains the class leader in Holland
and Poland and among the best sellers in UK, Ireland, Finland and Greece.
The Micra is available in three and five door hatchback models, as well as the stylish two-door C+C with its power
folding hardtop roof.
There are five highly competitive engine choices across the range – four petrol (gas) and one diesel. Petrol
engines displace 1.2-liters (with 65PS and 80PS); 1.4-liters (88PS) and 1.6-liters (110PS) while the direct
injection turbocharged and intercooled 1.5-liter diesel delivers 86PS. A smooth shifting five-speed manual
transmission is standard on all models with a four-speed automatic available on 1.2 and 1.4-liter petrol versions.
Life on board is spacious, and full of friendly innovations, such as automatic on/off headlights and wipers, six CD changer,
speed limit warning, rear parking sensor, Mp3 input, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and on-board phonebook.

Notes: The culmination of a two-year project to develop a range-leader which would add spice and dynamism to
the Micra range, the 160SR is intended for enthusiastic drivers.
Central to the 160SR’s character is the 1.6-liter 16 valve four cylinder twin cam engine. An all-aluminum low
friction design, the engine is also notably lighter than similar capacity units from rival manufacturers. To produce
sharper, sportier handling the suspension has been stiffened and the power steering modified to give greater feel
and feedback.

Micra’s B-platform is the first ever to be shared within the framework of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
Notes: Thanks to its clever folding roof, Micra C+C allows owners the best of both worlds: fresh air when the
weather allows and hardtop protection when it’s inclement. But Micra C+C introduces another ingredient to the
mix, one that’s unique in its class – the roof is all glass, so the elements can be enjoyed even in the depths of winter.
Micra C+C is lower and longer than the hatchback Micra. The roof line, dictated by the steeply raked windscreen,
is 110mm lower than on the conventional car while Micra C+C is 90mm longer overall: the extra length is all to
the rear of the car where it provides the extra room needed to stow the hardtop behind the rear seats. The hardtop
itself is a work of art. It takes just 22 seconds to fold clamshell-style beneath the double-hinged trunk lid: it is
hinged at the bottom and opens front to rear when the roof is raised or lowered and at the top when opened
conventionally to stow luggage.
The C+C is manufactured at Nissan’s Sunderland, UK, plant in a “factory within a factory” by Karmann, the
German automotve convertible specialists. This is the first time Karmann has established such a facility within
an automotive manufacturer’s plant.

Notes: The Nissan Note is an innovative interpretation on the traditional family hatchback. Blending dynamic
styling with an exceptionaliy roomy interior, Note combines desirability with flexibility in equal measures.
Aimed at parents who need a practical five seater car in which to carry the family but who are not prepared to
trade space for driving pleasure, Note has been designed to combine the two, providing clever use of interior
space with a fun to drive attitude.
The load area is a lesson in design versatility. With the rear seats in place, there’s a minimum of 280 liters of cargo
space available. Slide the rear seat forward and the load area increases to 380 liters. Furthermore, the load area
has a false floor, covered by a split luggage board – called Flexi-Board. Underneath is a secret storage space
beneath the floor ideal for stowing valuables out of sight.
The secret to Note’s outstanding spaciousness is its wheelbase of 2600 mm, longer than that of a Volkswagen Golf.
Specifications are based on the model available for test drive and may vary in other markets.

History: The Nissan Patrol is the definitive, authentic and original off-roader. Originally introduced in 1951, the
Patrol is the 4x4 of choice in the most challenging and arduous terrain on earth. Its victory in the T1 Production
Class in the 2004 Paris-Dakar rally is testament to the Patrol’s 4x4 ability.
Notes: Age is not an issue for the Patrol: some of the oldest examples are still in regular use today. The Patrol’s
dependability is a testament to Nissan’s credibility as a leader in the 4x4 market around the world.
Although it’s a traditional, hard-core and authentic 4x4, life on board is surprisingly refined thanks to the availability
of leather seating, navigation, and other comfort and convenience features.
Built on a unique chassis for the ultimate in off-road ability, the Patrol nonetheless has surprisingly compliant suspension
settings to provide smooth on-road performance. Off road, superb axle articulation and long suspension travel
means the Patrol retains all the agility and go-anywhere ability owners have come to expect from the Patrol name.
The Patrol has a strong and loyal following among customers who rely on its uncompromising, inexhaustible
toughness in the face of the most challenging terrain.

Notes: Designed, developed and manufactured in Europe, Qashqai is a compact crossover which combines the
dynamic performance of a passenger car with the slightly elevated driving position and reassurance of a compact
SUV. Its distinctive styling reflects this mix of philosophies, combining the sleek shape of a passenger car with the
strength of an SUV to create something fresh in the new car market.
Nissan’s highly praised electronically controlled ALL MODE 4x4 system – as pioneered in X-TRAIL – is available
on 2.0-liter versions. Despite having greater ground clearance than an ordinary hatchback, however, Qashqai’s
four-wheel drive is there to provide greater traction for safer driving and extra control in various weather conditions.
Qashqai achieved the maximum five-star rating for adult occupant protection from the European New Car
Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), with the highest ever recorded score for any vehicle. It was awarded
36.83 points out of a maximum 37 points by the independent crash test organization, receiving almost full scores
in Euro NCAP’s strict front and side impact tests, as well as a full score for seatbelt reminders.

Notes: Qashqai +2 is a new model described by Nissan as a modern family crossover and, with the imminent
arrival of the second generation Murano, helps to extend Nissan’s crossover offering to three distinctive models.
Sitting on a wheelbase that’s been extended by 135mm, Qashqai +2 has grown by a total of 211mm over the
original to 4,526mm.
The middle bench, which now slides fore and aft to ease access to the third row of seats and to also add trunk
space when needed, has been re-engineered to provide a three way folding operation on a 40-20-40 basis (the
original Qashqai splits 60-40).
The rear seats, which fold 50-50, have been designed for children or adults occasionally and when not in use, the
backrests fold easily to create a flat floor in the trunk.
With the rears folded and the middle row of seats in their most forward position, the luggage area now provides
up to 500 liters of load space, an increase of 90 liters over Qashqai. A removable tonneau cover can be stored
under the cargo area floor when not required.
Mechanically, Qashqai +2 matches the five-seater version model for model, though suspension settings have
been revised to maintain the Qashqai’s ride and handling characteristics, taking into account an increase in overall
weight of approximately 100kgs.
Built at Nissan’s UK plant in Sunderland, European sales start in the autumn.

History: The all-new 2007 Nissan Sentra, which was introduced January 2006 and began sales in the U.S. in
October 2006, has been designed to live in two worlds – weekdays and weekends. It offers all the expected
attributes of the previous generations of Sentra – good fuel economy, high levels of durability, quality and reliability,
safety, affordability and low cost of ownership – and adds a completely unexpected level of style, roominess,
responsiveness and versatility to meet the needs of its young, active, highly social target buyers.
The current generation Sentra is much larger than the previous generation and offers one of the largest interior
volumes in the compact car class. Built on Nissan’s new C-platform, this sixth generation Sentra has a 5.9-inch
longer wheelbase than the 2006 model. It is 2.3 inches longer in overall length, 3.2 inches wider and sits 4.0
inches taller for easier ingress and egress and enhanced head room.
Nissan has sold over 3.8 million Sentras in the United States alone since it was introduced in 1982. It has a
well-earned reputation for quality, dependability, value, performance and style.

History: When Nissan first launched the Sentra SE-R in 1991, it helped establish the concept of a “sport compact”
car. With a high performance 4-cylinder engine stuffed into a compact body, the original SE-R offered sports
car-like performance for buyers on a budget. Enthusiasts and the media recognized this unique combination
of performance and value and the Sentra SE-R became an instant hit – and has maintained a loyal following
through two successive generations of SE-R.
The latest incarnation of the SE-R joins the Nissan lineup in March 2007 with two exciting versions, the Sentra SE-R
and the higher horsepower Sentra SE-R Spec V. Both the new SE-R and SE-R Spec V are powered by Nissan’s
advanced 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (QR25DE) and are equipped with a range of unique performance-oriented
features, including standard 17-inch wheels and tires, 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
and specially tuned electric power steering (EPS) – as well as unique exterior and interior appearance modifications.

Notes: Available as either a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback, Tiida’s styling takes a contemporary slant
on the traditional three-box design. There are three engine options, two petrol and one diesel. Built on Nissan’s
acclaimed B-platform, the Tiida’s large, wide-opening doors and best-in-class hip points mean ingress and egress
has been made as easy as possible. Even the seats are larger than the class average. Class leading levels of
interior space includes excellent rear headroom, while the cabin abounds with clever storage possibilities. Trunk
volume is also surprisingly generous for a car of its size, its 467 liters of space comfortably leading the class and,
again, embarrassing many larger cars. Extra versatility can be found in the hatchback model, which has a sliding
rear seat: it can be moved up to 240mm fore and aft to increase load space or rear leg room as required.

History: Since it premiered in 1973, the Caravan has been enthusiastically acclaimed for its excellent driving
performance, interior comfort, functionality, economy and especially for its outstanding payload capacity. This latter
attribute is one of the most notable features of the Caravan, which has long been a representative brand in the small
cab over segment. The current model was launched in April 2001 after the first full model change in 15 years.
The Caravan adopted the QR Engine in August 2007, and was certified as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV).

Notes: Designed and developed in Japan and Europe, the new Cabstar is a truly global product. All left and
right-hand drive models destined for European markets are built at Nissan’s plant at Avila, near Madrid, in Spain.
While the majority of the trucks in the 2.8t to 3.5t Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) sector of the European market
are derived from vans with semi-forward cabins (SFC) where the engine is placed ahead of the passenger
compartment, the new Cabstar stays faithful to the cabin-over-engine (COE) concept of the original Cabstar.
This design provides a more professional solution to truck operators’ needs as it allows for a more compact
design – perfect for city-based operators – with no reduction in cargo space. In the Cabstar’s case, it has also
permitted a 4.5t GVW version to be developed, neatly taking the model into the lower reaches of the medium
truck market.
A 2.5-liter common-rail diesel is available in two levels of tune developing 81 and 95kW (109 hp and 127 hp)
respectively and there’s also a 3.0-liter common-rail diesel developing 110kW (147 hp). With wheelbase lengths
of 2,500mm, 2,900mm and 3,400mm, the range covers GVWs of 2.8t, 3.2t, 3.4t (RHD only), 3.5t and 4.5t.
Specifications are based on the model available for test drive and may vary in other markets.

Notes: The Interstar is a product of the Nissan/Renault Alliance and competes in the European heavy van
segment (2.8t to 3.5t GVW)
The Nissan Interstar has the largest cargo area in its class as a proportion of overall vehicle dimensions, and
lowest floor height in its class, for easy loading and unloading.
Popular in the civil engineering and construction industries as well as in the general transport arena, Interstar
customers appreciate the vehicle’s styling, price and capability. Loyalty is important, too: more than half state they
bought Interstar after positive previous experiences with the model or other Nissan vehicles.
Interstar is available in a wide variety of body styles and sizes. There are three wheelbase offerings (4.89m, 5.40m
and 5.89m; wheelbase: 3,078mm, 3,578mm, 4,078mm), three roof heights (2.23m, 2.47m, and 2.72m) and four
body types: panel van, chassis cab, combi with six or nine seats and a minibus with nine or 16 seats. Load
volumes in van forms range from 8m3 to almost 14m3.
Interstar is built in Batilly, France, which is a Renault plant.

History: The all-new 2008 Infiniti EX, went on sale in the U.S. in late December 2007, offers an exceptional
combination of seductive design, elegant interior and advanced technology systems. The EX also showcases two
innovative systems: Around View Monitor (AVM), which utilizes four small front, side and rear-mounted cameras
to give the driver a “top-down view” of the outside of the vehicle and help reduce blind spots when parking; and
Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), which takes Infiniti’s currently available Lane Departure Warning System into
a new dimension of safety by actively using the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system to help assist the driver in
maintaining lane position if the vehicle inadvertently starts to drift out of the intended lane. EX is the first
production vehicle in North America to offer AVM, and the second production vehicle in the world (following
the 2008 Infiniti M sedan) to offer LDP. EX also becomes first Infiniti vehicle to feature “Scratch Shield,” a special
“self-healing” clearcoat paint.
EX’s sculpted elegance expresses a timeless appeal – sleek lines that portray speed, grace and finesse. Its layout
combines the look and feel of a luxury coupe and an SUV’s interior flexibility.

that include the first-ever availability of Infiniti’s intelligent ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system on the 4.5-liter V8-

includes unique exterior and interior styling, Rear Active Steer (RAS) and 19-inch wheels and tires.
The Infiniti M’s exterior enhancements for 2008 include revised front and rear fascia, grille, rear fender panels, rear
decklid and taillight design, new chrome accents and new 18-inch and 19-inch sport aluminum-alloy wheels.

The importance of fishing, salt mining and catching plants linked to the sea is explained by the
nation’s location along the Atlantic

In industry, small companies comprise 70 percent of the total. Until a short time ago, the main
industries were found in traditional sectors: textile/clothing; leather tanning/footwear; wood/
furniture and building construction. Today, exports of machines and equipment, vehicles and other
means of transportation, as well as chemicals, take on great importance (data from 2005)

The largest chunk of imports is taken up by machines and equipment, energy, chemicals and
vehicles and transportation materials (data from 2005)

Tourism has been economically important for a long time, as the first structure for promoting
tourism was in place in 1911. Tourism now accounts for 3 percent of GDP

Political system
Portugal is a democratic parliamentary republic

Constitutional system: the Head of State is the President of the Republic, who is elected to the
post by direct suffrage every five years. The Assembly of the Republic (Parliament) has between
180 and 230 members elected by direct universal suffrage every four years. Candidates may run
for office only as part of voting lists of political parties. Government formed on the basis of
legislative elections to the Assembly of the Republic

The current president, elected in January 2006, is Aníbal Cavaco Silva; the candidate who was
backed by the right-of-center and conservative right-wing political parties, and who has the
challenge of cohabiting with a government headed by José Sócrates, a socialist Prime Minister.

History
Portugal is the oldest country in Europe (1143), from the standpoint of historical continuity and
nearly unchanged boundaries since the late 13th century. Only the political and institutional history
managed to enable the growing, coherent assertion of a State that has been strong ever since
the dawn of its existence.

Its people were the product of a blend that includes a large variety of peoples who passed
through and/or settled on Portuguese soil since the most distant times.

Populated since pre-historic times, the land area that makes up present-day Portugal still retains
quite a few vestiges of those times, as is the case with the recently discovered cluster of rock
engravings in the valley of the Côa River, considered to be the largest cluster of open-air rock
engravings from the Upper Palaeolithic period.

The Celts and Iberians (the latter would later give rise to the name of the Iberian Peninsula) would
be joined by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Barbarians and Arabs in making
the Iberian Peninsula a meeting place for cultures and civilizations, and its current people are a
rich, multifaceted product of how they all came together.

The Roman presence was felt, with over eight centuries of profound Romanization (from the 3rd
century B.C. to the 5th century A.D.). The Germanic presence that followed and which assimilated
a large part of the Greco-Roman and Christian heritage was deeply ingrained during the next
three centuries, as it remained beyond the Muslim invasion in the early 8th century. Islamic culture
endured for five centuries, as it added an immense heritage of science, technology, agricultural
economics and literature to the less developed culture of Christian peoples from the north.

It is in this context that the kingdom of Portugal would spring up, in 1143. Portugal gets its name
from an old city of importance in the north of the country: Portucale, which would later become Porto.
After gaining its independence it was important for the kingdom of Portugal to expand its territory
southward, until it reached the sea, thereby expelling the Muslims and overcoming them by force.

Back in the late 14th century, the dark century of “famines, pestilences and wars,” and after a
profound political revolution (1383-85), Portugal would manage to achieve socio-political stability
and national unity, both capable of promoting the nation’s strength for the great project of the
seafaring Discoveries and Expansion. Lisbon became a global center, a cosmopolitan city, which
imposed itself on the Venetians and Genovese and on Muslim merchants in its quest for the
highly sought-after Oriental products, most notably spices.

The Empire, the first in Europe which broke with the limits of the old Mediterranean and now centered
on the shores of the Atlantic, laid the groundwork, first in North Africa, as it explored every inch of
the African coast until it stretched down to the far south, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.

As the sea was being explored, the dream was now to reach India, trade, and not go to war.
During the many voyages in the South Atlantic, winds and currents led Portuguese sailors to the
“new world,” and Brazil is officially announced in 1500.

The world economy begun by the Portuguese sea routes first sailed by Portuguese explorers also
brought together continents, peoples, cultures and civilizations, thus striking down medieval myths
and dogmas that were well upheld by the Church of Rome, as this also contributed toward enabling
a new world to flourish – a modernity that was voiced by the Renaissance and Humanism. In 1977,
Portugal was a founding member of the European Free Trade Association and, in June 1986,
European integration took place. Portugal was one of the founding countries of the Euro in 1999
and therefore is part of the Eurozone.
