Call for Entries
Canstruction: Saturday, August 27th – Monday, September 5th
at the National Building Museum
Washington Architectural Foundation and the Society of Design Administration. Contributors include the Builders’
Ball, Giant Food, Hilldrup Moving/United Van Lines, Jones Lange LaSalle, National Building Museum, TW Perry. All
canned goods are donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.
Any Washington DC-area architecture, design, construction, or engineering firm may sponsor a team (with 5 official
participants). At least one member of the team must be an AIA or Associate AIA member. Firms may join forces to
$160 per team, nonrefundable. Entry deadline Monday, May 16th
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Thursday, June 16th noon
Kick-off meeting with logistics overview and a walk-through of the National Building Museum
Friday, July 15th
Deadline for turning in Giant food orders (format shall be provided). Teams are responsible for purchasing
their own canned goods.
Saturday, August 27th Build-out from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Marathon Build Out. Sandwiches, beverages and sweets shall be provided to keep the building going into
the afternoon. You’ll build on an 8’ x 8’ platform.
Monday, September 5th Awards Ceremony and De-CANstruction 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Bring family and friends to assist the Capital Area Food Bank in this monumental effort.
