Those who used forms printed by the department to file their 2009 taxes - 56,188 taxpayers - will receive a paper booklet in the mail from the state. Due to an increased number of people filing online, the number booklets that were printed and distributed has decreased from 140,061 in 2010. In 2010, the department stopped sending Income Tax and Homestead forms to distribution sites such as banks, libraries and city or county offices. The increased use of online filing has allowed the department to save $303,000 in printing and postage. Electronic versions of the 2010 tax booklet and forms such as the K-40 for reporting individual income taxes are available on the department’s website www.ksrevenue.org under the “Your Personal” section. Taxpayers can also file their Individual Income Tax Returns and Homestead Claims through the state’s free online application KS WebFile found at www.kansas.gov/webfile The deadline to file 2010 Individual Income Tax Returns is April 18, 2011.
