Start by contacting Andrew Nicholas and his team at THE SYDNEY TAXI SCHOOL for enrolment
and we’ll arrange everything for you. Our extensive Taxi Industry experience can make something
that looks complicated become simple for you ― many students at The Sydney Taxi School
complete the course in less than four weeks. What’s more we will arrange a job for you, either full-
time or part-time!
You’ll need to show that you meet the standards required for taxi driver applicants (otherwise the NSW Ministry of Transport will not
issue a Taxi Driver authority). The standards are in the driver authorisation information package at the school & on our website.

To apply you must be at least 20 years of age and must:
   Hold a NSW* drivers licence (fully unrestricted & for 12 months of the last 2 years);
   Be legally able to work in Australia
   Pass an English Test & Medical Check
   Read the MoT 2009 Authorisation Package Fill out an Application form for the NSW Ministry of Transport;
   Have satisfied the Director-General of NSW Ministry of Transport that they:
            Are of good repute and a fit and proper person to be the driver of a taxi-cab, and
            Interstate licence tenure qualifies, but must be changed to NSW

Taxi Driver Training at The Sydney Taxi School in TLI 20207
To be granted Taxi Driver Authorisation to drive a taxi you must successfully complete the following training, activities and
assessment programs:
Before training commences: (External Fees)
   English assessment at NSW AMES (Adult Migrant English Service) ................................................ Fee - $99

Sydney Taxi School can assist with all of the above. Once we have this information you should enter into a training contract with
Sydney Taxi School ― you’ll have up to 6 months to complete your training.

TLI20207 / Taxicare Plus Bronze Level You must finish this course to get your Authority                                                                                    $900
     Enrol in Taxicare Plus, TLI20207 / Bronze Level certificate Course, at the VETAB accredited Sydney Taxi School
     Study Modules 1-4 of Taxicare Plus. Do Practice Drives, Map Exercises and Role-Play sessions.
     Sit for the Sydney Knowledge Test (5 Sections - Street Knowledge, Major Routes, Locations and Destinations, Regulations and
      a Practical Street Directory test). 1st at the school & then at NSW MOT at Parramatta
     Assessment of Modules 3&4 will be conducted at the Sydney Taxi School
     Taxi Assimilation (an on-road assessment of skills as a taxi driver in

     Sign a declaration regarding criminal offences or traffic offences & supply a copy of your driver's licence and 2 photos
     Sit for another on road practical test, conducted by the Sydney Taxi School

           Step 1: Taxicare Plus- Bronze Level Training Classes


                       Class Attendance (Minimum 6.5 days) & Home Study
  0-Program Introduction 1-Navigation 2-Regulations 3-Customer Service 4 Taxi Driving Management

      Step 2 : Study for Computer Assessment of Modules 1 and 2

   After attending classes, Books 1 Navigation, B Blank Maps & PD Practice Drives, Assessment A &
                                            Book 3 Customer Service
                                      Must be handed in before testing

            Step 3: Sit for and Pass the Sydney Knowledge Test
                 (1st at the School then at MOT Parramatta)
                           A 5 Section computer-based locality test
                           1      Streets
                           2      Major Routes
                           3      General Locations
                           4      Regulations
                           5      Street Directory

            Step 4: Complete Course Bookwork & Assessment
                               at School


                    Step 5:On-Road Training & Assessment

                         School Holistic On-Road Assessment of Course
                             (Simulation of A Typical Taxi Journey)



Step 6:Graduate, Get Bronze Level Certificate & 1 year Taxi Authority

                          Go to Work for Minimum 1 day per week


                            Step 7: Further Training
                           Taxicare Plus Silver Level
                               Part 1 – After 3 months at work
                               Part 2 – After 6 months at work
                         Includes class activities, keeping a logbook
                              & attending 2 training workshops
                              & 2 NSW Taxi council Seminars
                              & another On-Road Assessment



Step 8: Send Renewal Application for 3 Year Re-Authorisation at MOT -
      Thence Continue Taxi Driving as a Fully Authorised Driver
