Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a key Six Sigma tool. It is used to assess the risks on a
product or process in order to prioritise corrective and preventive action used to reduce those
risks to an acceptable level

FMEA is also of great value in documenting known issues with a company’s existing products
and processes with a view to ensuring that the “lessons learnt” are used as a baseline in the
planning of future designs.

At the end of the course you will be familiar with the techniques used for Design FMEA
(product) and Process FMEA (process). You will also learn how the FMEA is kept up to date and
used to eliminate risks from new designs.
