                                           MEETING MINUTES – July 11, 2006

Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm at Damon’s. Present were Dave Mohar (RE), Gary Gurchik (Asst RE), Lauren Mo-
har (Treasurer), Ron Dotts (Sec.), Jim and Melissa Wegielewski, Mike Cunningham, Doug Kellander, Charlie Faris, Ryan Lower, Rob
Beck, Steve Shuss, Chris Barnard, Mike Cunningham, Jon Claypool, Robert Klingler, Jason Klingler, Toby Mordkoff, Dan Warner, Lee
Watson.

Competition: Ron Dotts competed at the Arnot Mall with the Glen Region in New York. Gary Gurchik competed in Washington DC
Pro Solo event. Both were competitive.

Secretary: Copies of June Meeting Minutes distributed. Minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer: Current fund balance is $12,506.77 A short-term certificate of deposit for $5,000, is included in the fund balance.

Solo II: Lauren and Dave indicated we needed to purchase new red and green cones. Toby said to be sure to buy vinyl type.
There was much discussion of procedures for red flag conditions, specifically regarding whether to red flag the entire course or a spe-
cific area of the course. A decision was made to red flag the immediate area of the incident and all areas behind the incident. On an
extended course event, we should endeavor to allow the car ahead of the incident to finish his run. On short course events the entire
course should be red flagged.
Toby Mordkoff suggested that a “Chief of Course” be designated. This person should be responsible to advise station chiefs as to
their responsibilities and would be the person responsible to determine who should get re-runs.
Some considerable discussion regarding topics of drivers meetings and length of drivers meetings. It was recommended that drivers
be reminded that when red flagged, they should come to a complete stop, then proceed at half to three quarter speed to finish. It was
recommended that the drivers meeting not be a course worker meeting and rely on Chief of Course for that function instead.
Some discussion of event regulations handout. Toby indicated we should not use the word “spectator” and instead use the word
“guest” because it is not a spectator event. Also suggested we should limit discussion of duties of course workers.
There was a discussion of grouping of classes when we change to having all classes run in the same heat. So as to avoid having too
many novices without experienced workers in the same heat, it was decided that Index class and Novice class should run in the same
heat.
There was a discussion of what happens when the event needs to be cancelled due to weather. A motion was made by Toby to for-
mally include in the Supplementals that, when there is a cancellation, all cars will have the same number of runs so that, if the event is
stopped in the middle of the third set of runs, none of the third set of runs will count.
Dave will purchase an air compressor in time for the Cone Killer Classic.
Course paving has been completed.

Newsletter: Ron Dotts indicated that the next newsletter will come out in early August and anticipates using a monthly format thereaf-
ter through October. He continued to solicit articles, photos, commentary, etc.

Membership: Current membership is 106. We are officially a mid-sized region based on membership count on January 1.

Merchandising: Sales are somewhat slow. Charlie Faris was authorized to purchase ponchos and umbrellas for resale.

Old Business:
Pre-Registration: We are now able to import registration directly from myautoevents.com to the registration software.
Insurance Quotes: Decision was made to store van outside of hangar because insurance cost would otherwise be $2,500 to $3,000
per year. Reason for high cost is that if the van were to catch fire and caused damage to aircraft, it would be a claim against us.
Cone Killer Classic All going well. Still need people to sign up for work assignments. Will allow walk ins for $35 per day. Will order
65 trophies and 80 t-shirts.
New Business:
Witches Rally: Will be a charity rally event and therefore will qualify for $50 sanction fee.
Work Days: Dave Mohar expressed a need for work day volunteers on a regular basis because airport is shorthanded.
Car Shows: Car show planned for July 15 at Canoe Creek State Park from 12 to 5 pm. Rob Beck of Altoona is our contact for the
event. Bellefonte Cruise was held on June 17. Ron Dotts and Chris Barnard attended and promoted SCCA-CPR. Chris took third
place with his Honda S2000 and Ron took first place with his 96 Corvette. Boalsburg car show on July 29. Jim will attend.
2006 Driver Challenge: Will plan for either the first or second event of Fall Series.
2006 Police Challenge: Dave will try to organize it for the last summer series event.

Adjournment: There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made at 9:18 pm by Gary Gurchik, and seconded by Mike
Cunningham. Motion passed.

                                                                                   Respectfully Submitted,
                                                                                   Ron Dotts, Secretary

                                                                                                  Page 17

                                    MEETING MINUTES – August 8, 2006

Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 7:06 pm at Damon’s. Present were Dave Mohar (RE), Gary Gurchik (Asst
RE), Lauren Mohar (Treasurer), Ron Dotts (Sec.), Josh Duvall, Doug Kellander, Charlie Faris, Steve Lower, Rob
Beck, Steve Shuss, Jon Claypool, Steve Eastman, Toby Mordkoff, Lee Watson, Aaron Eberhard, Sam Strano,
Dave Dix

Competition: Ron Dotts competed at the Seneca Army Depot with the Glen Region in New York. Park Wiker and
Sam Strano competed in Washington DC

Secretary: Copies of July Meeting Minutes distributed. Minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer: Current fund balance is $12,281.97. A short-term certificate of deposit for $5,000 is included in the fund
balance. Lauren indicated the Cone Killer Classic was profitable by over $400. Lauren suggested contributing the
next 50/50 to charity (this would be the last Summer Series Event. Various charitable suggestions were made but no
final decisions.

Solo II: Many thanks to all involved with Cone Killer Classic. CKC went very well and certainly plan on having this
annually. Much discussion of format for Fall events. There will be a Fall Series. Classes will not be run together.
There will be no required pre-registration. Nate to order timing wire. There was much discussion of procedures when
an event is cancelled due to weather. Clarification of procedure is that when an event is cancelled after officially be-
gun, all the competitors in the heat of cancellation will receive the same number of runs counted. That is to say that if
all competitors got 3 runs and some got 4 when event gets cancelled, all competitors in that heat will count only their
first three runs. If competitors get no runs due to cancellation, then those receiving no runs get a refund and the
event is not for points. The loss of the event does not change how many can be dropped, but it does change how
many events are needed for a trophy. Toby motioned to eliminate Fall Series trophies and Sam seconded the mo-
tion. After further discussion, the motion was voted down. Decision was made to give free t-shirts to all competitors
who compete in all 4 Fall Series events. Much discussion regarding rule about competitors riding with competitors.
Some felt it was not a rule but a policy. General consensus was that either the rule or policy must be applied equally
and fairly. A motion was made by Toby to allow competitors to ride with competitors in the Fall Series. Aaron sec-
onded the motion and the motion passed. Extended discussion of enforcing the 5-minute rule regarding co-driven
cars. The 5-minute rule requires that a car have at least 5 minutes between runs and this becomes most trouble-
some when there is a co-driven car. It was decided that the 5-minute rule must be enforced.

Newsletter: Ron Dotts indicated that the next newsletter will come out in August and anticipates using a monthly for-
mat thereafter through October. He continued to solicit articles, photos, commentary, etc.

Membership: Current membership is 105. .

Merchandising: . $95 in sales at last event. Lee Watson suggested we offer blank CD’s with CPR logo for people to
load event photos. Charlie has ordered ponchos and umbrellas with logos. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

Witches Rally: Course has been designed and is in sanctioning process.
Work Days: Dave Mohar expressed a need for workday volunteers on a regular basis because airport is shorthanded.
