              JOB SEARCH FRAMEWORK AND RESOURCES
The following checklist was created to help provide focus for those students who are conducting a
job search and enable them to leverage the many resources available to EMBA students. We
recommend that you use the Personal Strategic Plan (PSP) document to customize and organize
your search.

 Review EMBA Career Management website (COIN), check schedule of CM activities on myGSB
  and make appointment with EMBA Career Management Advisor.
 Conduct Self-assessment.
           See EMBA Career Management website (COIN), Career Exploration and Self-
                assessment sections
           Use web-based CareerLeader (see COIN/Self-assessment section for access)
           Fill out Self-Assessment section of the Personal Strategic Plan (PSP) document
 Identify and research specific career paths, industries, job functions, job positions, geographic areas
  and salary ranges.
           Reference COIN/Research
           Use Job Search Target Worksheets in PSP to organize information
 Validate fit, identify gaps with your transferable skills and consider strategies to overcome gaps.
           See Transferable Skills worksheet on COIN/Toolkit section
           Fill out Target Worksheet sections in PSP
 Develop networking contact list and action plan.
           See COIN/Networking” section
           Use BANC – Alumni Network and MBA face book databases
           Use Networking section in PSP for brainstorming and tracking
 Develop target company list.
           Reference COIN/Researching Companies section
           See Target Company Worksheets in PSP plan
 Develop personal “pitch” and marketing materials including resumes, cover letters, and thank you
  notes.
           See COIN/Marketing Yourself section
           Schedule resume and cover letter review with EMBA Career Advisors
 Prepare and practice standard interview questions focusing on how you add value
           See COIN/Marketing Yourself/Interviewing section and create answers.
 Use a variety of “recruitment channels” including networking, job postings, web job sites, and direct
  mail
           Check Job Posting database in COIN/Job Opportunities section.
