Lesson 2 – Diabetes Prevention
Lesson 2 includes two- 45 minute instructional days Lesson Goals: The student will become more aware of diabetes prevention strategies and incorporate necessary adjustments of nutrition and/or physical activity into daily living. Lesson Objectives: After completion of Lesson 2, the student will be able to: • record his/her daily intake of food to determine if healthy, nutritious choices are currently being made. • identify at least three foods in his/her diet that are healthy and at least three foods that are unhealthy. • identify three activities in his/her life that are healthy and 3 activities that are not healthy. • list at least three strategies to incorporate healthier foods and activities into daily living. • design a healthy nutrition/physical activity collage. • calculate various target heart rate ranges. • appreciate healthy foods that exist among various cultures.
