Siemens Automation Cooperates with Education (SCE) is pleased to announce a limited opportunity to nominate a school in your region for an in-kind donation of automation equipment and software. This donation is intended to help jump-start or upgrade technical programs and curriculum with leading edge Siemens automation technologies. Approximately 6-8 schools will be awarded one of the in-kind donation options detailed below. Program requirements are as follows; 1. 2. 3. 4. Success Factors: Siemens in-kind donations do not come with requirements for use or “strings attached” from Siemens. All donations become the exclusive property of the institution to be used at their sole discretion. Siemens does however, recommend nominated schools have the following success factors in order to best utilize the donation. a. b. c. d. e. Ability to send instructors to Siemens Train-the Trainer courses Resources to assemble, wire and connect the PLCs to simulation devices Computers of sufficient horsepower to run donated software packages Flexibility to integrate Siemens technologies into their curriculums Local support from Siemens and STC staff

Selection Criteria: Nominations for the 2009 SCE donation program will be reviewed and selections made on a number of criteria. Key factors will include but are not limited to: Geographic regions where Siemens presence needs improvement or has growth potential Institution’s current PLC activities and age of existing systems Support from local Siemens and STC teams Relationships with local industry using Siemens automation systems Willingness and ability to improve upon donated workstations, curriculum and instructional resources. f. All nominations are required to pass Siemens Compliance approvals. a. b. c. d. e.

Delivery & On-Boarding: Donation orders will be processed immediately after the final selection date and compliance approvals. Equipment deliveries are typically 4-6 weeks following ordering. Instructor training class participation can begin immediately after the selection and donation award. Instructor training will include recommended SITRAN scheduled classes at any Siemens training center. Support from local Siemens or STC staff for assembly consultation and post-training technical support is expected. A six-month and twelve-month progress summary will be requested from the school and local support teams. SCE-US will provide additional on-boarding support with basic curriculum materials, access to Siemens Service & Support resources and regular SCE program communications.

Future Opportunities: Schools not selected in this year’s program may of course be submitted for 2010 donation, pending SCE-US budgets. Schools are also encouraged to review and consider the large selection of SCE Trainers Packages which provide pricing discounts reflecting up to 90% off commercial suggested list prices. Education Partners: The SCE-US program provides an option for schools to become a Siemens Education Partner. Education Partners are schools who have made investments in their degree or certificate programs to include Siemens Automation technologies. Partner schools will receive access to additional resources, support services and discounts on Siemens automation components and software. Education Partners will also receive a posting to the SCE web site and referenced as; 1) A source for local industry to find Siemens automation training 2) A source for national industry to recruit Siemens skilled labor
