(JAC), in Hilo, HI. Duties: Serve as primary contact for visitors &
contributes to office security in this respect. Relays incoming calls
& assists visitors. Process incoming/outgoing internal & USPS mail
& courier shipments. Provide daily clerical support for all Divisions
w/in JAC. Provide local logistical support to visiting scientists.
Advise Executive/Project Asst. of problems w/ &/or status of visiting
scientist accommodations. Provide support to internal mtgs. by
setting up teleconference & videoconference equip., prep. & clean-
up of conference rooms. Maintain conference room calendars.
Requires: H.S. Diploma &/or Certificate of Achievement in Bus.
Tech. or equiv. level of training/exp. sufficient to perform duties of
job. 2-4 yrs of general exp. working in office. Considerable knowl.
of office practices & procedures. Able to communicate effectively
in person, on telephone, & via email w/ proper etiquette. Able to
plan, organize, & prioritize own workload that will originate from
number of sources w/in JAC so ability to multi-task & context
switch is essential. Able to operate office equip. Good working
knowl. of MS Word & Excel. Accurate keyboarding & 10-key skills
(basic mathematical calculations required). Valid driver’s license.

SUMMIT TELESCOPE TECHNICIAN I – ID# 11384
Regular, F/T position w/ National Astronomical Observatory of
Japan. Duties: Carry out technical tasks for the observation
system. Operate, verify & correct errors for all critical motions
of robotic Top Unit Exchange & Cassegrain Instrument Automatic
Exchanger equip. Perform maintenance work such as painting,
sealing, carpentry, installation or removal of equipment. Work on
special maintenance & facility projects such as snow/ice removal,
equipment replacement, & cleaning of large optics. Requires:
Associate’s or trade school degree, or HS Diploma & related
training to perform duties. (1-3 yrs exper at large telescope w/
similar work may sub for Associate’s). Exper in instrumentation,
installation, calibrations, preparation of instrumentation/telescope
for observing, troubleshooting & repair of equipment & electronics.
Knowl of PC & software for communication & logging. Knowl
of maintenance & electrical procedures. Skills for hands-on
preventive maintenance & equipment repair. Able to use hand
& power tools. Possess valid driver’s license & operate 4-wheel
drive vehicle w/manual transmission. Able to use visual skills &
depth perception to perform inspection of equipment placement.
Possess or able to obtain First Aid/CPR cert. Able to work at
14,000 ft & pass a high-altitude medical exam. Able to work for
up to 14 hours max. Able to lift/carry 50 lbs of equipment. Able
to climb ladders & work on high roof top/platforms w/ safety

maintenance of master ledger, deposits, data entry for in-house
financial record keeping, reconciliation of monthly Budget Status
Reports & ordering of program supplies. Perform receptionist
