   Ideal first fast Ford? Check.
   Loads of tuning potential?
   Check. Bit of a girl’s car? Not if
   you modify it the right way...
   THE             Ka is an ideal first fast
                   Ford — it’s cheap to buy,
   insure and maintain. There are loads
   of different limited-edition models to
   choose from, and, well variety is the
   spice of life. Ignore all the jokes about
   it being a girl’s car, and with the right
   mods it can be more manly than
   Arnie in an arm wrestling contest.
       The Ka first hit the streets back in
   1997 as a quirky bug-eyed hatch for
   a new era in New Edge Fords. OK,
   so it wasn’t exactly a fire-breathing
   monster but it was functional, and
   depending on your budget you
   could soon upgrade its image.
       For what it lacked in power, the
   Ka gained in handling. Straight out
   of the box Ford got it spot on, with a
   great chassis and nimble cornering
   ability, but that’s not to say it can’t
   be improved further. And as it’s
   been around for a while now there
   are plenty of aftermarket kits and
   styling products to add just a few
   personal touches or transform it
   into a real head turner.
