TROUPE NEWSLETTER - MAY 2009
Well done to all of the children who performed at Top Hat Eisteddfod. I was proud of you all and Commotion made quite a
splash with the audience. As a studio we walked away with an array of prizes, and a few new fans.
There’s a bit of a gap now until our next eisteddfod. We are going to be working extremely hard in classes to make sure
that we have many new routines ready for the second half of the year when the official eisteddfod season starts.
8/under - Please continue looking for new and better accessories so that we can look even better on stage. Most of the
kids need a bit more colour and unique style, and the hair to be a little more “individual”, in keeping with the theme of the
10/under – We are now officially making the shoes for this dance be white chunky sneakers. As long as they are very
white and resembling the traditional “Nike Air’s” then it will be fine. Some parents have found cheap alternatives at about
$30 to $50. The white sandshoes were ok for Top Hat, but I’d prefer a chunkier looking shoe for the rest of the eisteddfods
in the year. Please keep your shoes clean so they stay white.
Also, can you please stretch out the cuffs of the jackets and put some WD40 on the zippers to lubricate them.
12/under – Please keep an eye out for cheap white children’s gloves. Eventually I’d like us to all have the same type, but
its hard to find a set of 15 but still affordable. Also, please use some eucalyptus oil on the white parts of your chucks to
clean them and make them whiter. Some kids also need new whiter shoelaces.

***SHOULD WE DO THIS ONE??? It’s a new competition that is run very similarly to Australian Dance Challenge. It has
two judges on a panel and a decent venue. It’s in Kiama and is designed to be an ideal weekend away for dance schools.
We will only do it if at least 75% of the families in Troupe vote yes. But if the vote goes through, all will be expected to
attend. Even if all families can’t go, surely we could each take on another child for the weekend. It could be really fun.
Beach one day, eisteddfod the next. Jamberoo is right next door.

TROUPE REHEARSAL CDS…
For a $10 donation to our “new floors” fund, you will receive as a personal gift… from my young sister who is under the
age of 18 and therefore immune to copyright law punishments, a blank CD – which may (will) accidentally through no fault
of my own, happen to have 20 songs on there that we are using for Troupe this year. Commotion uses exclusive mixes
and edits of songs, and this is the essential CD to rehearse to. Great music for practising or even listening to in the car.
Troupe uniforms will be ready for the next eisteddfod.
I still need a carpenter to make some large bench-like props for troupe routines.
Many people still haven’t paid for the City of Sydney Eisteddfod. Please check at the desk.
Please thank Bernie for the amazing costumes once again.
People still have old Troupe costumes at home! Please bring them back ASAP!!!
Please don’t miss Troupe rehearsals… they are SO important
Please put down your vote about South Coast Challenge at the front desk YES or NO
