               • The Journey: Where was Williamstown PS at
                      the end of 2008?

eLearning Plan for 2008-9 had been accepted
                      by all stakeholders

eLP was linked with other key documents and
data [ AIP, ePotential, PLT planning documents]

Many eLP targets had been achieved

What do I would prefer not to see in an ICT Scope &
                         Sequence?

                    Checklists [particularly detailed ones!]

A scope and sequence that doesn’t make sense to teachers
                    and students

Making a difficult task to translate them into school ICT
                    progression points

Rubrics that are not based on what students can
                    reasonably achieve

Rubrics that do not indicate genuine progress by students
                    Too much VELS speak!

Examples of ICT Scope & Sequences that I don’t like

The next slides are real examples from schools in Victoria:
I feel they fall into some of the traps listed on the previous
                slide.You make up your mind!
                There is
                a Level 1&2 ICT Scope & Sequence,
                a Level 3 Scope & Sequence
                a Grade 6 ICT Scope & Sequence.
Think about how manageable they would be if you had to
fill them in and then use them to report on student
                progress

What are the issues in writing an ICT Scope and
                Sequence?

Do those writing them understand the possible scope
of ICT? [i.e. range and educational potential of
software, online resources and skills required]

And then, what is the consensus on the age appropriate
skills for students at each level

ICT skills are only important if they enhance teaching
and learning. So how are they to be integrated into
other curriculum subjects? Will students be allowed to
use these skills in these other subjects?

Are there PD implications for teachers?

        But what were its limitations?

             • It was limited by the ICT knowledge and
teaching style of those who were in the PLTs
                • It didn’t allow for student choice or
                         negotiation of learning
         • It didn’t give activity examples for teachers and
                                 students
            • Emphasised ICT rather than eLearning

         What is it?
It is a series of eLearning websites which do the following

     • Present the eLearning possibilities and the ICT skills
                      for a particular unit.
      • Are a resource and work samples for teachers and
                            students
