Effexor is an SNRI which has been recently linked to many new
findings that the drug is causing birth defects in
newborns. Have you taken Effexor or Pristiq during your pregnancy? Many

awarded compensation for their pain and suffering due to the horrible
birth defects found in their newborn babies.

Effexor (also Pristiq) is known by it's generic name venlafaxine HCI,
and is an antidepressant that can also be found in extended-release form
called Effexor XR. Effexor is an SNRI, short for serotonin norepinephrine
reuptake inhibitor, whose purpose is to inhibit the reuptake of
norepinephrine as well as serotonin. The manufacturer of Effexor is
Wyeth, which is now owned by Pfizer.

Effexor has been placed into the Pregnancy Category class C of drugs
by the FDA, and what this means is that Effexor has shown in animal
reproduction studies to have an adverse effect on the
fetus, but there are no related studies in humans. The benefit of Effexor
is supposed to outweigh the risks which is why it is prescribed to
pregnant women. The FDA Pregnancy Categories are designed to measure the
teratogenic effects of a drug on a growing fetus. Teratogenic means that
a substance or drug is able to interfere with the development of a fetus.
It also measure Embryocidal effects which means the killing of an
embryo.

The sickening side effects of Effexor include constant crying,
irritability, jitteriness, tremors, hyperreflexia, hypertonia,
hypoglycemia, vommitting, difficulty feeding, unstable temperature,
seizures, apnea, cyanosis, respiratory distress, prolonged
hospitalization. Did your Doctor list these potential hazards before you
took Effexor? It's likely most women were not even aware of these risks
on their unborn babies.

The good news is that there is free legal recourse you can take.
Effexor lawsuits are being filed all over the USA. If you or a loved one
took Effexor or Pristiq during pregnancy and experienced side effects,
you have legal recourse you can take.
