The Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) to work in Jharkhand for
CBPR was signed between DoPT,
Govt of India, New Delhi and
SKIPA, Ranchi in January, 2008.
  Theme of the Program
To promote and support improvements
 in public administration (at all levels)
 for improving service delivery,
 leading to poverty reduction, through
 a programmatic approach
    Objectives of CBPR
• Develop collaborative relationships with
  central ministries, states and other
  stakeholders
• Develop a coherent program of initiatives
  for poor
• Develop strategic planning and
  management capacity of MOP
• Build capacity at district, state and centre
  to ensure optimal use of systems and
  resources

  Background of CBPR in
       Jharkhand
• The CBPR Project is being implemented
  over a period four years (2005-06 to
  2008-09)
• At all India level, CBPR was implemented in
  February 2005
• In Jharkhand, it has been implemented in
  the last phase in year 2008
  Implementation of the
        Project
• By the order of DG, a brainstorming session with
  faculty members of ATI, Ranchi was done to
  select two districts of the Jharkhand for the
  programme implementation
• To implement CBPR program, Ranchi and
  Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand were selected
• Mr. A.N. Singh Sr. Deputy Director has been
  designated as Nodal Officer

Training on Sericulture :
         Ranchi
• A two day training program on
  “Sericulture as a Livelihood Option for
  Poverty Reduction” was organized by
  SKIPA, Ranchi from 22-23 May’08
• A field visit to Tasar Research & Training
  Institute was conducted to learn about
  Tasar Silk Production
• A visit to Jharkhand Sericulture Research
  Institute was also conducted to learn
  about Mulberry Silk Production
     WHY SERICULTURE ?
• A rural based industry
• Needs very low investment and gives
  higher returns pet unit area
• An ideal program for weaker section of
  the society
• Increases opportunities for woman for
  better occupation and returns
• Avoids migration of rural population to
  urban areas
• Mulberry/Non-mulberry food plant
  cultivation does not encroach upon
  agricultural land used for food
