What is a keyword?
World Wide Web
Word(s) used in search queries to look for particular information on the web. The search
engine reviews its database for websites that use those keywords most often and most
usefully and displays the results in the order that they feel best meet the searcher's inquiry
based on the keywords they used.
Database
Words used in search queries to look for particular information in a subscription
database. The database reviews its files for records that include those keywords; it then
displays those records. A record is a group of related fields that store data about a subject
(master record) or activity (transaction record). A collection of records is a file.

EXAMPLE:

                                                                         FIELDS

In database searching, a field search will only look for words in a specific field. A
keyword search will look for words in all the fields.
