PROPOSED MISSION AND OBJECTIVES Mission and Objectives: Magnet and Option Schools and Programs will be used by the district to fulfill its mission to graduate responsible citizens who prepared to succeed in higher education, or in the career of their choice and to meet three objectives: • • • Provide expanded—or additional—educational opportunities that stimulate interests and foster academic achievement; Reduce minority group isolation and support diverse populations within schools; and Maximize the use of existing school facilities.
TRANSLATING THE MISSION AND OBJECTIVES INTO AN EVALUATION: ONE - Provide expanded—or additional—educational opportunities that stimulate interests and foster academic achievement (The extent to which Students Achieve Academically compared to their peers at the schools for which they are zoned by attendance using EOC and EOG results; the extent to which families are satisfied with academics and themes as expressed in student and parent/guardian survey results or interview data; the extent to which families “vote” with their feet as evidenced by enrollment increases and waiting pool numbers) TWO - Reduce minority group isolation and support diverse populations within schools (The extent to which FRL% are reduced; the extent to which the school draws magnet students from other areas with a FRL% below that of GCS’s FRL%) THREE - Maximize the use of existing school facilities (the extent to which magnet students increase the utilization of the specific magnet school using membership capacity % without magnet students, membership capacity % with magnet students, and % increase)
