Construction Projects Update February 26, 2009
2008 Bond Projects Jamestown Middle School – Contractor continues to install masonry retaining walls. Grading around building pad continues. Contractor has received the building permit and has been issued a Notice to Proceed for Phase 2A Concrete and Structural Steel packages. o MWBE = 28.65% o MBE = 7.64% Eastern Guilford High School – Finish painting continues. Ceramic tile and flooring installation continue throughout. Ceiling grid and tile installation continues throughout. Structured cable installation continues. Front sidewalk canopy installation continues. o MWBE = 21.53% o MBE = 9.42% Other Projects Pleasant Garden Elementary School (Cafeteria Conversion) – Contractor continues installation of finishes. Contractor has begun painting exterior doors, light installation and technology cabling. o MWBE = 14.9% o MBE = 4.4% Dean B. Pruette Scale Center – Project complete, and students now occupy the building. Punch list work continues. Ribbon cutting ceremony from February 3 was postponed until February 24. o MWBE = 27.3% o MBE = 20.7% Union Hill Elementary – Technology package was bid on February 3. Interior wall installation continues in all three classroom wings. HVAC mechanical equipment has begun arriving on site. HVAC and electrical contractors continue rough-in in all classroom wings. Roofing installation continues. Exterior wall installation has begun. o MWBE = 29.13% o MBE = 8.87% Southern Middle School – Notice to Proceed for the construction of the track has been issued to contractor, and a pre-construction meeting has been scheduled. Additional projects designated by the Board have been assigned to architect. Design is underway. o MWBE = 13.28% o MBE = 0.0%
