Picturesque, colonial, intriguing, learned, revolutionary and contradictory pearl of Antilles. Cuba is
the island of Fidel Castro and Hemingway, of dark and strong rhum, of cigars, of Buena Vista
Social Club’s rhythms and of the never endig myth of Che.

Havana is the greatest caribbean city and its incredibly beautiful historical centre     (la Habana

Vieja) has been declared Humanity’s patrimony by Unesco. Walking through its streets you’ll
notice sumptuous monuments beside decaying houses, a strong contrast that deeply fascinates and
makes Havana unique. Don’t forget the appetizer at Floridita’s or Bodeguita del Medio’s, the walk
along the seaside, the Malecon and a visit to the many interesting sites as the Capitolio or the Plaza
de la Revolution.

Pinar del Rio is the island’s most western region and offers the most beautiful landscapes in
Cuba. Perfect site for the ones who love natural sites; of great effect the “mogotes”, Karst-formation
phenomena that, because of erosion, produced irregularly shaped hills, various caves and
subterranean rivers. This valley, part of Cordillera de Guaniguanico, was declared World Reserve of
Biosphere by UNESCO.
The region of Pinar del Rio is the zone of tobacco for excellence (80% of tobacco produced at
Cuba), where the precious black tobacco, cigars’ basis (habanos), is cultivated. The main
productive areas of tobacco are near the city of Pinar del Rio. Particularly important is the little
town of San Juan y Martìnez, “the earth of the world’s best tobacco”.



The Photo Tour
Sandro will follow you during the days with advises, suggestions and corrections. The aim of the
Photo Tour is to teach a landscape photographer - reporter’s basic behaviours, besides the
shooting’s technical details during action.
You’ll have exclusive cars in self-drive (one driven by Sandro and the other driven by one of the
partecipants), so you will be able to profit by every moment of the day in perfect autonomy.
In a country like Cuba, where there are many and many recalls, people’s fascination is hypnotic,
there will be certainly unforgettable situations and shootings.
This program gives you the opportunity to visit Cuba in complete freedom, choosing the itinerary
you prefer day by day. You’ll have a pre-paid voucher that guarantees overnight stays in all the
island’s main locations simply showing the voucher at the reception of the chosen hotel. Booking is
not necessary (excepting the first night), but it’s advisable above all in high season and particularly
in Havana. Pay attention: at Cuba street signals and lightning are rather poor, so avoid
absolutely to travel after sunset.

Euro 500 per person to be paid directly to the photographer when arrived at the first
Hotel.
NB : as it is a closed number Photo Tour, eventual “non student” companions will
have to pay the participants’ price to the Workshop anyway.


The program includes:
   -     Flight from Milano Malpensa (from Rome with supplement of 50 euro) in economic class
         with luggage exemption 20 kg.
   -     Airport assistance by one of our correspondent in site.
   -     Seven overnight stays in double room (max. 2 adults, 3rd bed not available) in the showed
         hotels.
   -     The treatment normally includes overnight stay and breakfast except when differently
         specified in the hotels’ list.
   -     Car rent with unlimited mileage.
   -     10 CUC telephone card for national calls, to be used to book hotels.
   -     Professional photographer companion.
   -     Entrance visa.
   -     Medical insurance for medical expenses abroad.
The program does not include:
   -   Obligatory car insurance (from 25 to 30 CUC a day depending upon the car model) with 300
       CUC exemption.
   -   Deposit of 500 CUC can be paid with credit card registered to the driver; Visa, Mastercarde
       or Eurocard are accepted if not issued by USA banks.
   -   Additional drivers, if not the main one, pay a 10 CUC supplement a day a driver (max 2 on
       agreement).
   -   In case of more than 3 hours difference between the day of taking and the day of releasing,
       one extra rental day is to be paid.
   -   Fuel.
   -   Meals and drinks except breakfast, where directly explained.
   -   Tips and personal expenses.
   -   Airport taxes (about 60 euro, to be confirmed at the emission).
   -   Insurance of travel cancellation 5% of the insured capital.
   -   All that is not clearly mentioned at the item “the program includes”.
