                                    PART- A

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards
quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year :

a.   It was proposed to conduct the Tests, Assignments, Seminars, Workshops,
     Group discussions, Debates, Quizzes etc
b.   It was proposed to provide added encouragement to sports and other extra-
     curricular activities.
c.   It was proposed to conduct Remedial Courses in English, Special classes in
     Spoken English, Special Training Classes to train the students to face the
     various CETs, interviews etc.
d.   The institution has proposed to introduce new subjects as required by the new
     semester systems.
e.   It was proposed to increase the number of textbooks, reference books, journals,
     etc under the UGC and General funds.
f.   It institution has proposed to recruit teachers in various faculties to meet out the
     deficiency caused by retirement and deputation.
g.   It was proposed to depute the teachers for the faculty improvement programmes
     like Refresher courses, Orientation courses, Seminars, Workshops etc
h.   It was proposed to encourage teachers to undertake research projects in various
     subjects.
i.   It was proposed to provide financial aids / scholarships to the poor backward
     and meritorious students, to conduct health checkup camp to the students, to
     take feedback by the students on college campus, infrastructure facilities,
     teachers etc.
j.   It was proposed to conduct Alumni and parents association meetings.




                                       PART- B
1.   Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution :

       During the academic year 2006-07 several activities were taken up in view of
the fundamental goals and objectives of the institution. The following are some of the
highlights of the activities undertaken.
a.     The number of students admitted to the institution during the year comprise a
       major percentage of students belonging to the rural, poor and downtrodden
       sections of the surrounding areas.                                  ( Encl No I )
b.     Every effort was made to ensure the allround development of the personality of
       each student.
c.     The meritorious students were encouraged through providing additional
       facilities, so that they can be role models for the average students.
d.     The career and employment guidance cell arranged for guidance regarding self
       employment opportunities available to the students A three day training
       programme was organized by CEDOK to impart information and infuse
       confidence regarding self employment.
e.     As we are a rural college, it is necessary to modify the mindset of the students
       from the traditional style of thinking to the modern and scientific style. Hence
       we are making every effort to adopt modern technology in teaching & learning
       process and thereby bring a change in the mindset of the students.
f.     We believe that the purpose of education is not merely enabling a person to
       read and write but also to make him a responsible and contributing citizen of
       the country. The institution relentlessly strives to create a sense of social
       responsibility and awareness among the students towards preservation of
       ecological balance by maintaining minimal and most essential interference in
       the ways of nature. We teach our student to contribute to the creation of a
       healthy and constructive social environment by staying away from the social
       pollutants.

2.     New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG) :
       During the year, the main attention was towards strengthening and
consolidating the existing programmes. Hence no new programmes were introduced.
However the institution is gearing up to implement the semester system from the
second consecutive year 2006-07 as per the decision of the Karnataka University



3.     Innovations in curricular design and transaction :

       The curricular design and transaction is normally provided by the university
academic council. There is heardly any scope for the institution to interfere in this
regard. However many senior members of the staff are members of the Board of
studies which is a recommendatory body for adopting the syllabus. These members try
to introduce innovative ideas to be included in the syllabus & present the same before
the board of studies for recommendation.

4.     Inter-disciplinary programmes started :

       Inter-disciplinary programmes are not part of the U.G programmes. Hence no
such programme was introduced during the year.

5.     Examination reforms implemented :

       The students were made to appear for the Monthly, Quarterly, Terminal, and
Preparatory Examinations at college level. However the annual examinations are
conducted by the university itself.

6.     Candidates qualified NET / SLET / GATE etc :

7.     Initiative towards faculty development programme :

       One of the staff member Shri A.B.Mangalore, deputed to Karnataka University
under the FIP financed by UGC to do Ph.D in Hindi. He has completed his Ph.D and
joined on 11-10-2006, Another staff member Shri A.K.Nashi has completed his Ph.D
privately and waiting for award. Several teachers deputed to participate in various
TQM programmes, Refresher Courses, Orientation Courses, Seminars, Workshops etc

8.     Total number of seminars / workshops conducted :
       Seminars and debates were conducted in the classrooms by the concerned
teachers of various subjects. In addition to this various other programmes were
conducted under the aegis of various extra curricular associations like Career and
Employment Guidance Bureau, Cultural and Debating Union, NSS, NCC and the like.

        NSS special camp was held at Jakkali village for 10 days from 29-11-2006 to
8-12-2006. Several social and constructive works were carried out during the camp.
        AIDS awareness and training workshop was organized by the NSS Unit on 20th
January 2007. 60 volunteers were participated & took training.

        In all the courses, that is B.A, B.Com, B.Sc Part-I, II & III, the students
assessment of teachers is in practice for the last six years and whenever there are any
shortfalls on the part of the teachers, such teachers are advised to improve the quality
of their teaching, guidance and student support as required.

  utilizing. The college proposes to seek UGC grants for constructing an independent
  Botany Laboratory building.

  to provide modern education technology and training in its use to the teachers.

  29.    Activities and support from the Alumni Association :

         The managing committee of the association met on 15th March 2007 at 10-30am
  in the college under the chairmanship of Principal S.V.Patil Shri Ravindranath
  Doddameti and Basavaraj Veerapur Members of the association were the Chief Guest.
  The meeting resolved to conduct one day workshop for the final year for BA, BSc and
  BCom students. As per resolution one day entrepreneurship awareness and training
  workshop was organized on 30th March 2007 under the joint auspices of Alumni
  Association and Employment and Career Guidance Bureau. The topic of the training
  was “Multi National companies and Job opportunities.

30.    Activities and support from the Parent-Teacher Association :
       Parent – Teacher meetings were held twice during the year on 11-8-2006 &
14-2-2007. Parent’s & teachers suggestions are taken as feedback to regulate the
academic activities of the college.

31.    Health Services.
       The students are provided with health services throughout the academic year on
a nominal fee of Rs : 5/- per year. The college has a visiting doctor who is present in
the dispensary for two hours daily and available always in case of emergency.
Annually, a compulsory medical examination is conducted for each student by inviting
doctors from various specialization's, who provide consultancy services free of cost.
However during this health check-up programmes some voluntary organizations
provide few life saving drugs freely. The medical check-up was conducted on
18-2-2007.

32.    Performance in Sports activities :

       Kumari Sandya K Dasar was selected as University blue in kho-kho (women)
for the third consecutive year and also represented the Karnataka University kho-kho
(women) team as caption at Callicut (Kerala)
       Kumar Shivaraj K and Kumar D.R.Patil shared men’s General Championship,
Kumari Sandya Dasar secured women’s Generals championship at college for the
academic year 2006-07

33.    Incentives to outstanding sports persons :
       As a routine all the sportspersons of the college are given nutrition supplements
like egg, bread, banana, milk etc to support their nourishment during the practice
period. Rolling shields and cups will be given as prize to the winners at various sports
events.

35.    Activities of the Guidance and Counselling unit :
       Three day Entreprenership Awareness camp was organised under the joint
auspices of Employment Information and Career Guidance Bureau and CEDOK,
Dharwad from 28-8-2006 to 30-8-2006. The details are enclosed.               (Encl No III)
36.    Placement services provided to students :
       Prof M.G.Tuppad & Prof S.G.Keshannavar have undergone the training in
“Global Skill Enhancement Programme” conducted by progeon at Infosys Leadership
Institutite, Mysore from 26th June to 8th July 2006.
       After returning from the trainings both of them have trained 30 students of our
college belongs to Arts, Science & Commerce faculty. They trained the students about
Analytical Skills, Personality Development & Communication Skills.
       The training helps the students for getting jobs in various BPO companies and
call centres.

them to cope with impending total computerization of the administration.

38.          Healthy practices of the institution :
             *      Periodical tests, Examinations and Seminars are conducted to check the
                    quality of learning of the students.
             *      Student’s feedback is evaluated and measures are taken to overcome the
                    deficiency.
             *      In order to impart value based education, special lectures are arranged by
                    inviting role model personalities. With a view to promote the all-round
                    development of the personality of the students, the Golden Student
                    Scheme has conducted various competitions.
             *      Cash prizes are given to the meritorious students.

      i.         Dr A.R.Sajjan, Dept of Chemistry attended as Guest at S.D.M.College of
                 Medical Science and exhibited hypnotism show in order to demonstrate
                 rebirth through Hypnosis.
      ii.        a. Maj A.V.Radder attended CATC Narasapur Gadag from 22nd June
                    2006 to 3rd July 2006
                 b. Attended BRC Ron as a resource person on 19-9-2006 and delivered a
                    lecture on the topic magnetism.
      iii.       Dr A.B.Mangalore published article in “AnuSanket” National level
                 magazine entitled “Dr Mahendra Bhatnagar ki Kavithavome Stree Vimarsha
                 a. Shri M.G.Tuppad Dept of Botany attended BRC Ron as a resource
                    person on 18-9-2006 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Cell Biology
                    and Bio Technology”
                 b. Worked as a guide to BSc Part-III students for the project work entitled
                    study of insect pollinated characters in some insect pollinated plants of
                    Naregal
      iv.        Smt L.C.Hiremath, Dept of Education, presented a project work on
                 “Demerits of Platic” at University of Pune
      v.         Shri S.F.Kuriyavar Dept of Physics, attended PSS English Medium School
                 Kodikoppa Naregal as a Guest and delivered a lecture on “Science &
                 Technology in the Modern Age”

vi.    Miss Shilpa Sajjanar, B.Sc Part-III attended the Physics Learning Camp for
       under graduate held at KUD from 1-12-2006 to 6-12-2006. Organized by
       Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat Bangalore and Dept of Studies in Physics
       KUD.
vii.   Miss Shobha Sankanur, B.Sc Part-III attended the Physics Learning Camp
       for undergraduates held at Choksi Hall, Indian Institute of Science
       Bangalore from 30-10-2006 to 4-11-2006.

                                        PART-C
       The IQAC proposes to take some more steps during the next academic year
2007-08 towards attending the gole of sustained quality enhancement. The plan of
action for the year 2007-08 is as follows.

a.     Proposed to conduct the Tests, Assignments, Seminars, Workshops etc Further
       proposed to conduct Remedial Courses in English Special Training classes to
       train up student’s to face various CET’s, interviews etc.

b.     Proposed to continue the periodical academic audit as done during the previous
       years.

c.     Proposed to encourage teachers to participate in the National and International
       level Seminars & Conferences

d.     The institution has proposed to construct a women’s Hostel making use of UGC
       Grants.

e.     Proposed to use the students feed back for the improvement in the academic &
       non academic activities and infrastructure facilities.

f.     It was proposed to provide a campus selection programmes by establishing
       contact with M.N.C’s and other employment providing establishments.
