Fall Special Events Intern

Sharpen your communication, time-management, and organizational skills while supporting the 1.1
million men, women, and children statewide who deal with the daily pain and limitations of arthritis. This
internship runs during the fall 2011 semester. The Intern will help coordinate the Arthritis Foundation’s
largest fundraising event of the year, Madison’s Jingle Bell Run/Walk, on its 26th year. The JBR-
Madison will take place at Vilas Park on December 10, 2011, and planning is already underway. As an
important part of our event team, you’ll communicate regularly with volunteers, team leaders, and
sponsors. Specifically, you will help us recruit volunteers and participants in the community. You’ll also
get hands-on event experience carrying out day-of logistics, managing volunteers as well as organizing
event materials. Please note that this is an unpaid internship; however, you can receive college credit and
a valuable entry for your resume by working on this national signature event.

Microsoft Windows Campus Reps are expected to work approximately 11 hours each week for 40 weeks
during the academic year and some summer weeks. Each week we expect that about 8 hours will be spend
performing hands on trials with their peers on campus and the remaining 3 will be spent interacting with
other program members on our website and reporting data to us. This is a paid internship with a weekly
stipend, many bonus opportunities, and students who meet the program goals get to keep the premium,
full loaded PC we'll send them after being accepted into our program. Responsibilities include: Each
week the Student Rep will be required to conduct 40 hands on trials of Windows 7 and other Microsoft
products to other students on campus using the fully loaded computer we provide completely free! We
will also train them via web seminar and provide them with a Windows Marketing Kit that contains
everything they will need to conduct trials on campus. They will use their social networks to engage
others on Windows features and let their friends know how they can take a trial! Students will report to

Urban Education Leaders Internship Program

The Chancellor’s Urban Education Leaders Internship Program (UELIP) is an intensive multi-
disciplinary, academic internship program that runs semester-long throughout the year. The DCPS Office
of the Chancellor accepts Associates yearlong, with open application periods held at the beginning of the
fall and spring semesters and the summer months. This program is designed for leaders who are near
completion of their undergraduate or graduate/professional degrees by the start of the program.

Associates conduct research and work on education policy projects under the direction of key leaders of
the chancellor’s team. Associates are charged with the responsibility of creating innovative and outside-
the-box solutions to systemic urban education challenges. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to expose
associates to current critical educational reform issues, introduce them to exciting issues around managing
an urban school system, and provide networking opportunities with education leaders and agency heads in
local government.
