							                       Sample Artifacts for Eligibility Portfolio
                          Based on IECE Teacher Standards
*An artifact may only be used for one standard. You may include more than one
artifact per standard if needed to demonstrate B-5 age range and children with and
without disabilities.

**These are only suggestions for artifacts to get you thinking about what you have
you might use.

You will need to put at least one artifact behind each standard, a reflection should
follow each artifact. Connect the reflection to either what you learned during the
experience and/or to student learning if you taught the activity. Be sure to connect
your reflection to the IECE standard performance indicators for the standard
where you place to artifact.

BE SURE TO USE THE IECE TEACHER STANDARDS FOR YOUR IECE

Portfolio requirements

    Demographic information
 Table of Contents listing artifacts under each standard
    Resume
o Be sure to include any employment or volunteer experiences as well as

o Much like self-talk. This is what happened, this surprised me, I didn't
anticipate this, what next steps would be, what changes you would
make for next time, reference to any children who struggled with
concepts or appeared to have already mastered concepts. Reflect on
how what you did related to children’s learning. If the artifact you
select has been developed as a course project, reflect on your learning
during the experience. Reflections should show your growth as a
professional and should be more that surface. Try to connect your
reflection to IECE Teacher Standard benchmarks when possible.
 Signed affidavit (this is your work)
 If you use pictures of children, you must have signed permission from the
child’s parent/guardian. Check with the school district as many schools will
already have signed statements from parents. Be sure to check with your
supervising teacher to determine if the school district believes this to be
       sufficient for your portfolio.

In addition to those things listed above, you must include any other materials that
are required for all student teachers.

You may wish to include more than one artifact for some standards in order to
document ability to work with children birth-kindergarten with and without
disabilities.

Portfolio will be evaluated by 2 early childhood faculty members.
You must make at least a 2 on all standards to pass (1= unsatisfactory;
2=satisfactory; 3=outstanding)
