                               SCIENTIFIC PRESENTATIONS

Posters: All attendees are encouraged to present posters at the meeting. The poster session is
scheduled to take place Monday, July 26th, with a cash bar available. Posters will be displayed
for the remainder of the meeting. The poster session remains a high priority for the Academy,
and posters account for the majority of our published abstracts. Please plan to present at least one
poster at the meeting. Participants may submit a maximum of two poster presentations. You or a
co-author must attend the meeting for the poster to be presented. Please see Call for Abstracts
below for more information. The deadline for Poster abstracts is June 1, 2010. If you are unable
to use the automated system, please send your abstract to the Secretary-Treasurer, Lin Myers, at
lin@cs.csustan.edu. An abstract book will be distributed to all participants at the meeting and
posted on the IASR website after the meeting.

Brief Communications: A panel of researchers will summarize recent research in the form of
a Brief Communication at the meeting. All oral presentations will be 10 minutes in length (plus
2-3 minutes of questions). Only first authors will present. Abstracts will be anonymously
reviewed by a committee. The deadline for Brief Communications abstracts is February 22,
2010. Please see Call for Abstracts below for more information. Inquiries about Brief
Communications should be sent to the President-Elect, Dr. Erick Janssen, at
ejanssen@indiana.edu.

Audiovisual: We strongly advise all presenters to prepare their talks using PowerPoint. A media
projector with a PC laptop (for PowerPoint) will be provided for Invited Lectures, Brief
Communications, and Symposia. It is advisable to bring more than one format (e.g., both a
memory stick and CD) as a back up. Please email requests for other audiovisual equipment by
June 9, 2010 to the conference host so that the feasibility can be determined ahead of time.
                                                                                                      3

Reprint Bazaar: We will have a freestanding reprint bazaar throughout the meeting. Each
participant is encouraged to bring 50-100 reprints of 3-4 articles or book chapters that can be
placed on the reprint table for distribution. This is an excellent means of familiarizing ourselves
with our colleagues’ work.

CALL FOR BRIEF COMMUNICATION AND POSTER ABSTRACTS

Abstracts are requested from researchers interested in presenting their research in the form of
brief communications and posters. On the IASR website, at the top of the page you will see a
link to “Brief Communication and Poster Abstract Submission”. Please submit your abstracts
online, closely following the format shown. Abstracts should be between 350-400 words.

For Brief Communications, you may submit one abstract for consideration. The first author is the
person expected to present the paper. The deadline for submission is February 22, 2010.

For Poster abstracts, you may submit up to two as a first author. You will be expected to present
both posters, if they are accepted. If accepted and you are not able to attend the meeting, they
will not be presented or published in the abstract booklet. The deadline for submission of Poster
abstracts is June 1, 2010.

For Invited Speakers and all Symposia presenters, abstracts should also be between 250-400
words and be submitted no later than June 1, 2010.

will be considered. If the manuscript is not already submitted or accepted elsewhere, the student
will be encouraged to submit the manuscript to the Archives of Sexual Behavior, where it will
undergo the usual peer-review process. Past winners are ineligible. The deadline for nominations
is February 15, 2010.

during our 2010 meeting. Proposals need to be received prior to the 2010 meeting. Our

require a suggested title, brief description of the topic and the rationale for its inclusion, and
information about possible speakers and convenors. For invited Plenary speakers, proposals must
                                                                                               4

                                     MEETING LOCATION

Prague, city of a hundred spires, is in the heart of Europe. The capital of the Czech Republic is a
city of more than one million people, spreading over almost 500 square kilometres. Prague
enhanced its historically strong ties with other cities in Central Europe, and has gradually been
gaining a continuously improving reputation within the continental structure of big cities.
Situated on both banks of the Vltava River, it is a beautiful city with a rich history. Thanks to its
location in the centre of Europe, Prague has always been an important crossroads of trade and
culture. Prague is one of the architecturally most unique European cities.

The dominant feature of the city is Prague Castle, which houses the gothic St. Vitus’s Cathedral.
The castle had been the seat of Czech kings since 1087, until 1918 when it became the seat of
presidents of the Czechoslovak Republic. Since 1993 it has been the seat of the president of the
Czech Republic. Prague has one of the oldest universities in Europe – the Charles University –
which was founded in 1348.

With a widely opened pro-market economy, stable democratic government, and stable currency,
this country provides a great opportunity to host a conference in order to meet researchers from
all over the world. Prague, as the venue for this conference, provides all the necessary facilities
and services.

The conference will be held under the auspices of the Chancellor of Charles University of
Prague, Professor RNDr. Václav, DrSc.
