Presents the
Fourteenth Annual Charity Auction
In Memory of our Great Friend "Pat" Wilson
Bowie Knights of Columbus Hall
Bowie, MD
Saturday the 20th of November
the year 2010
Kiwanis Club and Foundation of Crofton, Maryland
PO Box 3101
Crofton, Maryland 21114
November 20, 2010
Dear Friends of Kiwanis,
Welcome to our Fourteenth Annual Charity Auction, dedicated to the memory of the auction's
founder and our good friend Pat Wilson. Pat's passing in January of 2001 was a huge loss to his
family, to Kiwanis, and to the Greater Crofton area, where his many acts of charity, civic and
public service live on as monuments to the time when he walked this earth.
We have a large selection of items this year — about 450 items — and we hope to provide you
with an exciting evening of fun, food, drink, and fellowship with your friends and neighbors. All
proceeds of the auction will go to the many charitable and civic causes we support.
We are grateful for the participation of over 100 local merchants and businesses providing
donations to help bring you the wide variety of items presented here tonight. A special thanks to
our auction committee volunteers who have spent many hours to make this auction a success.
The Crofton Kiwanis has a single purpose, and that is to serve. Our focus is on children, but we
are always there to lend a helping hand, wherever it is needed. This past year, for example, we
helped to finance a summer program for kids living at Sarah's House, a local shelter for homeless
families; donated proceeds from our annual Crofton Kiwanis/Greater Crofton Chamber of
Commerce golf tournament — over $15,000 — to the Crofton Caring Council and the Arundel
Volunteer Fire Department, provided holiday gifts to over 40 local needy children; and provided
repairs and renovations to the home of an elderly resident in need through Rebuilding Together.
We continue, through our Wounded Service Members Care Project, to assist military service
members seriously wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan. Perhaps you will consider joining us in
Crofton Kiwanis and assisting in our work.
Thank you for attending our Auction, and we know you will have an enjoyable evening.
Yours in Community Service,
Dan Scholfield, President
  SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1 AUCTION TERMS

BIDDING

Your bidder number is written on the back of your Auction Catalog.

Each SILENT AUCTION item is identified by a Silent Bid sheet posted next to the item on the
silent bid tables. All items have a minimum bid, and a minimum increment by which each bid
must be increased. To bid on an item, simply write your bidder number in the bidder # column
and your dollar bid amount in the amount column. Announcements will be made to advise all
bidders of the closing times of selected silent auction tables. A copy of each bid sheet will
remain on the table so that you may determine the winning bid for each item. Please do not
remove bid sheets from the tables. You may go to the cashier’s table to pay for and claim your
winning bid items at any time. In some cases you will be given a receipt to return to the tables to
claim your items.

To bid on a LIVE AUCTION item, raise your Auction Catalog so your bidder number can be
seen by the auctioneer. If you are the successful bidder, you will be given a voucher indicating
your bidder number, the auction item number, and the amount of your successful bid. To claim
your live auction item, go to the cashier’s table and present your winning voucher form. Upon
payment, your live auction item will be provided to you.

All of your bid purchases will be summarized prior to your arrival at the cashier’s table. You do
not need to visit the cashier’s table until you are ready to leave the auction.

PAYMENT

Successful bidders have a choice as to the method of payment. We accept cash, checks, and Visa
and MasterCard credit cards. Please note that there is no Maryland sales tax on any of the items
you purchase tonight.

GENERAL RULES

All sales are final. There are no exchanges or refunds of items by the donors or by the Kiwanis
Foundation of Crofton, except where specified, such as the donor becoming unable to provide
the item or service promised. Please do not ask the donor for substitutions, exchanges, or
refunds. To avoid disappointment, please make all vacation and lodging reservations well in
advance. All resort and private vacation properties are offered to families and adults, and to
minors accompanied by adults.

Unless otherwise specified, all auction items must be removed from the premises at the
purchaser’s own risk on the night of the auction.

Thank you for coming and HAPPY BIDDING!
