INVESTIGATION QUESTIONS
Examples of possible uses:
Student writing activities (write a paragraph explaining how to set up an experiment to
answer the question, write a list of steps involved in answering the question, etc.)
Use a question as a DOL and then discuss ways to test hypothesis once the grammar is
corrected.
Send students home with a question on which they might be able to do independent
experiments.
Hold a contest to see who can best apply the scientific method in answering a question and
offer to actually do the experiment in class if possible.
Have students list questions with which they would like to experiment and select those
which require available supplies. Set up a center where those students finished with their
work can explore.
It is strongly recommended that you have students use the Scientific Method worksheet (lower level)
or Scientific Method Worksheet (middle school level) to complete the investigations to ensure they
are following the proper steps. Another option for 4th-8th is to use any of the multiple investigations
already partially completed.
This list is divided into three levels by difficulty: Level 1 (k-3 level), Level 2 (3-5), Level 3 (6-8), Level
