                   XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
       Accounting feedback summary I

General:
• Only few response via TRAX on accounting issues
• Most request for common practice positions
• Consistency issues  consequences:
   • New hierarchy approach for presentation linkbase
   • Minor changes in the English label style guide

• TRAX as feedback base for accounting issues?

                  XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
       Accounting feedback summary II

Changes for final release:
• Additions & correction of positions
• Removing unnecessary subtotals
• Minor amendments in extended link roles (change of
  description title)
• Adding extended link roles
• Adjustments for hierarchy view of presentation linkbase

                  XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
        Accounting feedback summary III

Considerations:
• Effects of changes in IFRS/IFRIC terminology
   • Sources of changes in terminology through new/amended
     standards and annual improvements
   • Terminology “resistant” taxonomy architecture?

• Different approaches to provide information
   • Example: gross vs. net reconciliation of changes

• Different options to provide information
   • Example: current/non-current vs. order of liquidity

            IFRS Taxonomy Views

Standard Approach
By IFRSs (when ELRs are sorted by their ids or URIs)
By structure of financial statements (when ELRs are sorted by
  their definitions)
An artificial six-digit number placed in the square
brackets at the beginning of the ELR definition
Six-digit number not related to the IFRSs (viewing and
sorting functionality only)
ELRs between [100000] and [899999] refer to primary
items
ELRs between [900000] and [999999] represent
dimensional components

XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
                  Domain modelling

Three main modelling techniques
   Hierarchies
   Intersection tables
   Dimensions
“[210000] Consolidated statement of financial position,
current/non-current classification”
“[610000] Consolidated statement of reconciliation of
changes in equity [by classes]” and “[620000]
Consolidated statement of reconciliation of changes in
equity [by categories]”

                   XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
                          Tuples

IFRS Taxonomy 2008 Exposure Draft uses no tuples
IFRS-GP Taxonomies tuples often used to model
structures rooted in common practice or in old IFRSs
If such common practice was not found in the current
IFRSs tuples were not used
IFRS-GP tuples are modelled by means of:
string elements if the IFRSs are not clearly indicating tabular
  form
intersection tables for tabular form (and also intersection tables
with single class only where the rest of the classes should be
  defined in the taxonomy extension)
dimensions if the axis information is contextual

                   XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
           Modelling of Hierarchies

Presentation and calculation linkbases are constrained
by a number of internal best practices
An abstract concept should be on the same presentation
level with abstracts concepts only
Abstract concepts should not be children of non-abstract
concepts
Concepts being totalled in the calculation linkbase and
using total label role should be placed as the last child of
an abstract parent with preferred label role set to total
label (the abstract parent should be the same as totalled
concept)

                   XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
     Translating the IFRS taxonomy labels

What shall be translated?

Taxonomy labels (tags) of elements in the linkbase
         2006 Taxonomy: ~ 4250 elements
         2008 Taxonomy: ~ 2500 elements

      Extended Link Roles (ELRs)
          2006 Taxonomy: 44 ELRs
          2008 Taxonomy: 137 ELRs

How to achieve?

                       XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
Translation process overview
1. Interested Party contacts IASCF to discuss process and details

                                                                    contract
     2. Form translation team, assign roles, decide schedule

                       3. Sign agreement

4. Receive translation resources from the IASCF, where available

                                                                    translation
               5. Translate IFRS taxonomy labels

                6. Review IFRS taxonomy labels

       7. Send final draft to IASCF to build label linkbase

   8. IASCF publishes draft linkbase on website for comment

                                                                    release
                      9. Finalise linkbase

3.5.2 Communication of changes to taxonomy users
Changes to version 1.0 will be communicated to
taxonomy users in order that they may update their
systems for such changes via the versioning mechanism
provided. This mechanism will include both human
readable information and information which is consumed
by an application that would be used to update a
 taxonomy user's system.

            IFRS Release Timeline

IFRS Taxonomy contains the IFRSs (available (effective and
early adoption) as at the taxonomy release date
Reporting entities have the option to apply early adoption
IFRSs earlier than their mandatory date
Subsequent taxonomy releases or amendments are placed in
new schema files
Separate releases of the standards have also separate
extended link roles (ELRs) with corresponding issue date of
the single standard as well as separate linkbases
An example for effective and early adoption standard is
modelling of the two versions of IAS 23 or modelling of the
pair IAS 14 and IFRS 8
Each taxonomy release is identified by a different taxonomy
date in the root folder, core and dimensions schema file
names

                 XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
 IFRS Taxonomy Release Management

One yearly release corresponding with the IFRSs Bound
Volume release (inclusive effective but superseded
standards)
Correspondence of the IFRS and IFRS for SMEs
Possibility to release new standards as ED for test
between the yearly releases
Releases after bugs/errors discovery
  Accounting issues
  Technology issues
  Implementation issues

               Use of Dimensions

Dimensions used only when information belongs to
context
Only using explicit and open explicit dimensions
Open explicit dimensions only define the highest domain
member, the users must define the breakdown of the domain
  members
Closed explicit dimensions have a closed content and should not
  be changed unless necessary
Hypercubes not defined

                   XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
              What Is Versioning

XBRL Versioning Specification aims at capturing the
equivalences and differences between taxonomy
versions
Taxonomies change over time thus creating new
versions
Change log is the file where all the changes are
recorded
Versioning is a way to define a human and machine
readable change log

                XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
               Versioning Model

Should makes migration between versions easy and
inexpensive
Versioning of IFRS-GP 2006 and IFRS 2008 taxonomies
is more sophisticated (significant architecture chaanges
and full content rebuild)
Versioning of IFRS 2008 and 2009 based on Standard
Approach and stable architecture
Dimensions not yet covered by VWG

                XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
        Rendering with InlineXBRL

InlineXBRL Specification enables the use of an XHTML
document as the base for an XBRL instance creation
Based on XHTML
Use of special tags inserted in the XHTML code
Tags constitute the interface between XHTML and XBRL
instance document
No direct usage for the IFRS Taxonomy development
Considered usage for the use cases and tests
Second (premature) stream of RWG works – rendering
linkbase

               XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
                       Formulae

Calculation linkbase is not enough
With Calculation linkbase IFRS Taxonomy cannot do:
  Cross context calculations
     Movements
     Dimensional roll-ups
  Business rules
  Other calculations
Formulae are tested for the IFRS Taxonomy use cases
currently

                  XQRT meeting – 5 June 2008
                Formula Examples

Formulae can be used to produce values
Formulae can be used for validations
   Value assertions
   Existence assertions
   Consistency assertions
A formula can look like this: assets = current assets +
non-current assets, where
Current assets and non-current assets are inputs and the output
is the value of assets (approach of the data warehousing and
   reducing reporting burden)
Assets, current assets and non-current assets are inputs and
and the output is a variable that can be either True or False
