                                                                                             ABOUT LE TRUCKS
                                                                                             Local transportation in French Polynesia is
                                                                                             by island bus Le Truck. The buses are very
                                                                                             basic — there is no air-conditioning and
                                                                                             often no PA system. If you ride aboard a Le
                                                                                             Truck, and you have a bad back, take a
                                                                                             towel along to help cushion the ride.

                                                                                             is the tomb of French navigator Alain

DURATION                    Starting in the village of Vaitape, circle this island paradise in one of the local Le Trucks.

                            Your narrated drive will take you past the main villages of Vaitape, Faanui and Anau. Continue on past
                            American naval gun sites from World War II and enjoy spectacular views from Matira Point. Gaze over

DURATION               The Marquesas Islands, rugged and remote, offer some of the most incredible landscapes in the
                       entire tropical Pacific.

                       From the pier, travel by local Le Truck or 4WD taxi approximately two miles to Atuona, the town
                       where painter Paul Gauguin lived and did some of his best work. Here you will visit the Gauguin
                       Museum and the Arts and Crafts Center. Then travel to Calvary Cemetery to see the burial sites of
                       Paul Gauguin and Belgian singer and songwriter Jacques Brel before returning to the pier.

                                                         Transfer to Le Petite Ferme, where you meet your guide and your horse for a ride along the
                                                         beach. After a brief demonstration, mount your horse and set off for an hour’s trail ride,
                                                         including approximately 20 minutes of traversing the beach.

                             DURATION                    The waters off Huahine are the natural home of big-game fish, from blue marlin to tuna

                                                         Board the Ruau II, a vintage 36-foot Hatteras, for a half-day fishing expedition. Your knowledgeable
                                                         captain will take you in pursuit of blue marlin, yellow fin tuna, wahoo and mahi-mahi. Rods are
                                                         assigned on a rotating basis with other participants during this exciting catch-and-release program.
