Nutter McClennen & Fish Ranks No. 1 Nationally for Associate Satisfaction

(BOSTON) – Nutter McClennen & Fish ranked No. 1 in the nation for associate satisfaction, according to a recent
survey by The American Lawyer.

The annual survey rated answers from more than 7,000 associates from 180 firms. Nutter topped the list with
particularly high scores in the areas of partner-associate relations, work satisfaction, collegiality and benefits and
compensation.

“This recognition is a testament to Nutter’s culture,” said Michelle Basil, a partner at Nutter McClennen & Fish
who chairs the firm’s Hiring Committee. “While partners lead our client matters, we are committed to creating an
environment where associates are key members of the team and are given significant responsibility. The
integration of our associates into client accounts is vital. It both serves our clients well and results in a place
where associates thrive.”

Key to the success of Nutter associates is access to senior-level guidance and meaningful work. This structure led
Nutter to receive a perfect score on associates’ opportunity to work with partners. In addition, Nutter associates
ranked the quality of work they are assigned 17 percent higher than the national average – a number The
American Lawyer directly correlates to tenure at the firm. Again, on this measurement, Nutter scored 20 percent
higher than the national average, with the majority of associates expecting to be with the firm in two years.

“We place a high value on the work that our associates do on behalf of the firm,” said Michael Mooney, Nutter’s
managing partner. “Nutter’s success depends on the success of the lawyers who practice here, and we believe that
in order for them to succeed, they must be inspired, challenged and supported. We are proud to be ranked so
highly among our peers.”

About the American Lawyer survey:
The annual American Lawyer Midlevel Associates Survey polls over 7,000 associates, representing 164 firms

including the interest and satisfaction levels of work; benefits and compensation; relations between associates and
partners; training and guidance; openness about finances and strategies; billable hours policy; attitude toward pro
bono work; and the likelihood of the associate remaining at the firm in two years.
