									                                                 JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:              Audio Engineer – Contracted Position
HOURS/DAYS:         Part-Time, Varies depending on Needs
REPORTS TO:         Expressive Arts Program Manager

Responsibilities
The Expressive Arts Program Manager (EAPM) provides key support to the treatment
program through the planning and creative use of music. The Audio Engineer supports
these efforts by selecting and employing appropriate musical techniques, methods and
activities, and combines these with a therapeutic process that is well designed and
planned to achieve treatment goals.

Duties
1. Mixing and editing sound effects, music and voices using a sound-mixing board.
2. Setting up and handling recording equipment.
3. Engineer weekly music groups and individual sessions with residents.
4. Ensure that all essential safety precautions are enforced throughout each activity.
5. Meet with performers, producers, directors and other professionals involved in a
   production in achieving desired sound for a program, video, music recording or other
   types of productions.
6. Produce a compilation of songs for CD recording and production.
7. Assist with other multi-media projects supporting the music program.
8. Attend relevant trainings as they pertain to the therapeutic approach in working with
   residents.

Qualifications
Required:
   Advanced knowledge in sound engineering PC programs;
   Experience using digital equipment and specialized machinery to record, mix,
      synchronize or reproduce sound effects, music or voices;
   Experience in setting up, operating and maintaining various electrical and
      electronic equipment used in music recordings;
   Experience as a composer, songwriter, musician, or singer;
   Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
   Advanced computer skills including word processing;
   Organizational and problem solving skills;
   Ability to work independently;
   Excellent interpersonal skills;
   Ability to handle stress in a positive manner;
   Ability to engage residents in a therapeutic manner;
   2 year degree in Audio Engineering or equivalent years of experience;
   Knowledge of the Native American culture and tribal communities; and
   Ability to work with at-risk youth in residential treatment.
HOURS: Varied. Estimated at 12 to 20 hours per week for an indefinite period of time.

To receive Indian Preference consideration, proof of tribal enrollment is required. An enrolled
member of a federally recognized Tribe must present his/her Tribal Enrollment Card or papers.
Direct descendents must provide a Certification of Indian Blood (CIB).
