Introducing NOD32 NOD32 Antivirus System provides well balanced, state-of-the-art protection against threats endangering your PC and enterprise systems running various platforms from Microsoft Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP, through a number of UNIX/Linux, Novell, MS DOS operating systems to Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino and other mail servers. Viruses, worms, trojans and other malware are kept out of striking distance of your valuable data. Advanced detection methods implemented in the software even provide protection against the future threats from most of the new worms and viruses. The fourth generation of the NOD32 Antivirus System features a fully integrated software suite characterized by an unprecedented detection track record, the fastest scanning rates and extremely low utilization of system resources.

NOD32 for Microsoft Windows NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP
Provides protection for PCs at home or in the office running Microsoft Windows NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP. NOTE: Standard versus Administrator version: the Administrator version has additional functionalities. It is meant to be used in the LAN / WAN environment as it supports creation of copies of the update files so called "mirror". The Administrator version requires a purchase of a Corporate / Multiuser license. NOD32 Control Center The NOD32 Control Center is the central management module. It provides access to the various features, tools and settings and fully integrates all installed system components. These are categorized into four different sections, each of which can be expanded into an easy-to-use directory tree style system. For increased security, the key settings can be password protected to prevent unauthorized access and modification. Key Features Include Centralized management of the resident antivirus modules and filters. Intuitive directory tree style system for easy access to: Automatic, internet/LAN Update module Centralized system of log files for all installed modules AMON - resident on-access monitor NOD32 - on-demand scanner IMON - Internet monitor - scans e-mails incoming via the POP3 protocol EMON - complementary e-mail scanner module - scans e-mails incoming via MAPI interface (details below) Flexible task scheduler and planning module Quarantine directory Key system information Automatic Update module Supports frequent incremental updates and upgrades of the executable components. Most updates are performed ‘on-the-fly’ (no reboot is required). Small incremental update of the virus database minimizes network congestion and download times. Allows flexible scheduling of updates and selection of various update profiles. Checks for updates of the system at user-defined intervals or even upon the occurrence of a predefined event. Provides intelligent update options for computers on dial-up access. Supports proxy-servers (Basic and NTLM authentication). Provides authentication of the origin of downloaded update files using a digital signature technique. Supports updating from a local site without accessing the Internet, such as from a server within a LAN. The upgrade system can be configured to reflect a multi-level hierarchy and/or other needs of a large company or organization. Creates updates to a floppy or CD for PCs that are not connected to the network. Configuration settings can be distributed to local workstations from an administrator’s computer. Provides the option to use a configuration file to set system parameters across the network during initial installation and/or subsequent updates. Supports ‘silent mode’ on end-user workstations: notification messages may be forwarded to an administrator only.

Allows the settings to be password protected. Centralized Log file system provides information on: On-demand scanner results Relevant events (e.g. performed updates, executed tasks, etc.) Infiltrations detected by resident modules and filters

NOD32 Scanning Modules All the scanning modules of NOD32 system (on-access monitors, filters, on-demand scanners, e-mail server solutions, gateway filters, API and DLL modules, etc.) use the same sophisticated scanning engine across all the supported platforms. OD32 Scanning Engine Key Features The highest detection and scanning rate performance. Unprecedented heuristic analysis capable of exposing DOS, Boot, Win32, macro, script and other viruses and worms in the wild. Built in powerful virtual emulator enables detection of the most sophisticated polymorphic and metamorphic viruses. Virus detection in compressed or protected executable files, such as UPX, AsPack, FSG, Petite, Neolite, ExeStealth, yoda's Crypter, PECompact, Pklite, Lzexe, Diet, Exepack, CPAV . Support of many archive formats, e.g. ZIP, RAR, ARJ, LZH, LHA, CAB, CHM, TAR, GZIP. Detection of viruses in encrypted, password protected databases and documents. Use of heuristic and algorithmic methods to clean viruses. Cleaning of macro viruses and restoration of the documents to original format. Recovery of the most important system areas (functions) in the event of an infection. Storage of infected files in a safe format (not allowing execution) into the quarantine. Search speed is maximized through associative, multilevel cache and low-level code optimizations. Use of very fast single-point samples and CRCs for precise detection. Use of very few system resources. Disinfection/quarantining of the files automatically, on-the-fly. Full support of UNICODE in Windows NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP.

AMON AMON (Antivirus MONitor) is an on-access (memory-resident) scanner for Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP. Even though it is at full alert, it works silently in the background and you will probably not even notice its presence until it denies access to an infected file and pops up a warning window. Key Features Utilizes the advanced NOD32 scanning engine. Prevents infected files from being opened, executed and warns upon their creation. Automatic execution on system startup. Scans floppy boot sector upon access and during shutdown. Sends notification of infections or errors over network or via e-mail using the SMTP protocol. Supports multiple Terminal Server environments. Scans also mapped network disks.

IMON & EMON IMON (Internet MONitor), is the second NOD32 resident scanner. It runs on the Winsock level and scans internet traffic (e-mail) incoming via the POP3 protocol. IMON replaces the NOD32’s for POP3 filter (known from the former NOD32 version) with enhanced email protection. Almost no configuration is required, which is great for non-technical users. EMON (Email MONitor), a complementary resident module, scans e-mails incoming via MAPI interface. MAPI interface is used e.g. in the following e-mail clients: Microsoft Outlook 95, 97, 2000 (not Outlook Express) in the Corporate mode and in MS Exchange. MAPI interface is used also when receiving e-mails from the Microsoft Exchange Mail Server via the Exchange protocol. IMPORTANT NOTE: When the MAPI Interface is not used on the computer EMON is not needed and therefore will NOT be installed. The e-mails incoming via the POP3 protocol will be checked by IMON

NOD32 for Microsoft Windows (on-demand scanner) Provides on-demand protection for computers at home or in the office, from Microsoft Windows 95/ 98/ ME workstations to Microsoft Windows NT/2000/2003/XP, Windows Powered servers. Key Features Easy-to-use graphical user interface with an alternative, command-line execution. Integrates into Windows Explorer’s context menu, allowing quick selection of a scanning target using the right mouse button. Scans operating memory and check its own integrity. Cleans, removes and quarantines infected objects. Removes infiltrations from files that are locked for writing (e.g., loaded DLL file). Removes viruses, worms and Trojans that are running. Scans Outlook and Outlook Express e-mail databases. Can be scheduled and executed using various users’ profiles. Contains a detailed, interactive on-line help.

Awards
The combination of NOD32's malware detection accuracy, high performance, and low system usage has earned the product numerous international prestigious awards. NOD32 has received an unprecedented 33 Virus Bulletin 100% awards since May 1998, and has been selected as the "Antivirus program of 2001" by Australian PC User magazine, "Best Buy, Best Performance, Best Value" by the independent UK Consumer's Association. See below for a selected list of awards:

NOD32 is the world leader of the Virus Bulletin 100% Awards having won more awards (34) than any competing product. Since its first submission for testing in May 1998, NOD32 was the only tested product that has never missed a single In the Wild virus.

ESET was the second company to be certified against this rigorous test set of more than 28,000 spyware objects. In fact, NOD32 had a significant lead over dedicated spyware applications.

In its November 2003 Antivirus Test Comparison, PC Chip Croatia rated NOD32 as the #1 performer in both speed and detection . . . ahead of antivirus industry heavyweights Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro, Kaspersky, AVG, eTrust, H+BEDV, Panda, and Sophos. "Since the beginning NOD32 was rudely neglected in favor of "big names" - the famous web site Cnet went so far as to bury NOD32 as a third class program with doubtful quality - but they could not have gone further from the truth, because NOD32 is the winner of many awards and cerificates from the most respected independent labs and groups in the antivirus industry." wrote the PC Chip Editor in his review. NOD32 Antivirus System receives a 2003 InfoWorld Readers' Choice Award from InfoWorld Media Group, responsible for delivering awardwinning technology and product news, research and analysis to the IT community for more than 25 years. More than 1000 readers voted this year's Readers' Choice Award. NOD32 has also received the InfoWorld Test Center's top rating of Excellent, a mark given by InfoWorld editors and analysts to products that have shown top quality and market readiness. "NOD32 provides excellent functionality and simple administration in a package that won't tax computer or human resources." (InfoWorld, July 2003) InfoWorld is a division of IDG, the world's leading technology, media, research, and event company. IDG publishes more than 300 magazines and newspapers and offers online users the largest network of technology-specific sites around the world through IDG.net, which comprises more than 330 targeted Websites in 80 countries. One of the most popular German website portals dedicated to Windows software applications Wintotal.de granted NOD32 the Wintotal Award. In the tests performed by wintotal.de staff in August 2002, NOD32 received the highest possible rating of six points. The categories considered in the evaluation process include efficiency and speed of the scanning engine, system/resource requirements of the antivirus system, frequency of system updates and user friendliness of the graphical user interface.

Chosen as the BEST ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM OF 2001 by PC User Magazine of Australia. "In PC User's most recent antivirus tests, only one program provided 100% protection against all viruses in a very large test set --- NOD32." Not surprising since NOD32 is the only product to have never missed an "In The Wild" virus during Virus Bulletin Testing. "NOD32 also has effective heuristics to protect against unknown viruses, and the company is really on the ball with updates." Next Generation Antivirus programs use advanced heuristics to detect new Viruses, Worms, Trojans and assorted Malware - NOD32 has the most advanced heuristics available. "The penalty for thorough scanning is normally a longer scan time, but NOD32 was the fastest as well as the most thorough." NOD32 avoids the baggage carried by most other programs - written in machine code NOD32 scans the executable files at least two times faster than any other antivirus product available. "Is it any wonder we awarded NOD32 as PC User's Best Antivirus Program of 2001?" Actually it is a very pleasant surprise to see a major publication willing to acknowledge the superior performance of a product that doesn't spend any money advertising in it.

"NOD32, more than any other program, is simply a must-have!!!" ESET has been named to Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 for the past three years.
