Names of group members __________________________________ Part 1 -Facts to remember about circles:
Radius is the distance from the outside of the circle to its center point. Diameter is the distance across a circle going through the center point. Circumference is the distance around the circle. Mean is the average of a set of numbers.

Part 2 – Answer the following questions before beginning the activity.
1. Look over the objects at your workstation that you might use as measurement tools. What would be your hypothesis about which object would be a more accurate tool of measurement and why?

2. What hypothesis would you make about which standard of measurement will be the easiest and most accurate to use? Why did you make that selection?

Part 3-Read the directions below before you begin.
Using any of the items found at your workstation, measure the circumference and diameter of four items. Use the list on the board to select your four items. Measure all of the items, using both customary and metric measurements. Record all of your data on the charts below. After all measurements have been made, answer the remaining questions on the worksheet.
