BACKGROUND OF GRANTEE ORGANIZATION Please provide the brief history of your organization, its mission, size (people and budget), earlier projects in this field and history, if any, working with The Broad Foundation. 3) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INITIATIVE a. Goals. Please explain what your goals would be under the grant, and explain how and why they are aligned with The Broad Foundation’s mission. In addition, please provide metrics to be used in “measuring success” in the table below. TBF will review the goals in comparison to other similar investments as part of our review process. Metrics used in grant terms, should the grant be awarded, will be proposed by The Broad Foundation using the metrics template below after reviewing the first draft of your proposal. Once agreed, such metrics will become Exhibit 5 of the terms of the grant. TBF will likely engage in deeper discussions with you around these metrics. (Please find example grid below that can be pasted into MS Excel.)  The foundation can provide a budget example for the type of grant under discussion  Budget should include both an income statement and a cash flow statement  Assumptions, both quantitative and qualitative, should be clearly documented and listed within the budget spreadsheets  All expected sources of funding for the grant should be included  The time unit (month or quarter) chosen will depend on the duration of the grant and projections should cover the life of the grant  All line items shown must relate directly to the program funded by the foundation  Budgeted expenditures should be organized by categories  The timing of the cashflow must be aligned to the work streams and timelines discussed above  Assumptions should include key metrics, e.g. number of participants, estimated student count, number of schools, as appropriate  Please note: there are items that The Broad Foundation will not fund.
