                              MINUTES January 18, 2011


The Monroe County Senior Services Committee met in regular session on January 18, 2011 at
Pettera’s Country Thyme Café in Wilton. Mary Cook, chair called the meeting to order at 10:05
a.m.

MEMBERS PRESENT: David Shudlick, Mary Cook, Wes Cornett, Theresa Lehner, Wallace
Habhegger and Bill Blanchard.

NON-MEMBERS PRESENT: Laura Rumpel, Susie Brownell, Clarice Doyle, Mary O’Gara,
Shirley Degenhardt, Marilyn Nofsinger, Jean Bardeen, Pat Learman, Lois Newman and Duane
Evans.

ABSENT: Harry Thonesen


MINUTES-REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF November 16, 2010:
The members reviewed the November minutes. Motion made by Bill Blanchard, seconded by
Wes Cornett to approve the minutes. Motion carried.

Vouchers:
 Members reviewed the December and January vouchers. Motion made by Bill Blanchard,
 seconded by Wally Habhegger to approve December vouchers in the amount of $30,195.30
 and the January vouchers in the amount of $35,501.44, and Laura’s comp time. Motion carried.

Financials:
  The committee reviewed the December financials. Laura informed the committee that we are
  still under benchmark this month. Laura informed the committee that the preliminary outlook
  for the end of the year shows that we are over budget at this point but revenues are behind and
  it is difficult to estimate donations. We will review again at our February meeting.

Contracts:
  Motion made by Wally Habhegger, seconded by Bill Blanchard to accept the NSIP contract
  for the October 2010 thru September 2011 for the amount of $28,458. Motion made by Wally
  Habhegger and seconded by Bill Blanchard to accept a contract with Comfort Keepers to
  purchase chore service, respite and personal care services. This can be used as a template for
  other providers as well.

Newsletter Update:
  Monroe County Publishers is currently producing the Vintage Express for the same amount as
  the previous publisher. Since space is limited, the office is starting the Vintage Express Extra
  which will be printed by the extension office. It will be paid for out of the caregiver grant for
  $50.00 to $60.00 per month.

Norwalk – Wilton Nutrition Site Options:
 A.) After a lengthy discussion about options it was decided that a survey should go out to the
 Norwalk and Wilton participants for input. Motion made by Wally Habhegger, seconded by
 Bill Blanchard to table discussion until next month’s meeting. Motion carried.
 B.) Norwalk van needs to go in for brakes to Brenengens. Shirley voiced concerns about the
 time and mileage expense to get work done in Sparta. Laura said our transportation
 coordinator has additional Brenengens’ concerns and will put the issue on a future agenda.

 C.) Laura informed the committee that 3 Bears Lodge in Warrens is doing great and is starting
 to have a bingo day. Numbers have been as high as 47/48 in a day.

Personnel Update:
  Laura informed the committee that the person that took the benefit specialist job decided it
  was not a good fit. Interviews will be on Thursday, January 19, 2011 for the position.

Committee Member Replacement:
  Laura informed the committee that Mary Witt from Cashton is interested in replacing Lloyd
  Cramer on our committee. Motion made by Bill Blanchard, seconded by Theresa Lehner to
  have Mary Witt considered by the county board chair as the replacement. Motion carried.

Meeting in Eau Claire:
  Motion made by Bill Blanchard, seconded by Wally Habhegger for Laura to attend a meeting
  in Eau Claire. Motion carried.

Next Meeting:
  The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday February 15th, 2011 at the 3 Bears
  Lodge in Warrens at 10:00 a.m.

Adjourn:
Motion made by Bill Blanchard, seconded by Theresa Lehner to adjourn at 11:40 a.m. Motion
carried.
