How can we at CPCC improve our overall services to students?

I think you have already started down this path, but just making sure that students are aware of
all the services you provide them. It took me until my last semester to find out about a lot of the
helpful programs you had here at CPCC. I really enjoyed it.
Improving services with UNC CHLT. to receive transfer credits from CPCC HUMAN SERVICES
        TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS.
I think CPCC is a well-organized and easily accessible institution. All information is clear and
        well-distributed.
Valid Cpcc could improve their services to students by offering more classes at different times. Many
of the harder classes I needed were offered at the same times so scheduling was often difficult.
        .
A lot of the classes that were needed should be offered at all campuses. The west campus never
offered the non-transferable classes and those are just as important to students as the
        university transfer classes.
Academic Advisors could have been easier to speak with.
additional resources for teachers i.e.: TA's equipment building facilities (Belk)
Administration (i.e. Financial Aid, Registration, Sponsorship Office, etc. ) needs better training in
customer relations and organization skills. I have dealt with these departments on many
occasions over issues that could have been avoided;
Admissions is the problem area that needs some looking into. Most students I have talked to feel
that the initial evaluation of transferring credits is being grossly over looked until just prior to
graduation. This in turn puts a heavy load on both the student and the staff.
Advisement office (in CH) could be more helpful when students first arrive on campus by
explaining the processes more clearly and by offering opportunities available to students (for
transfer to university).
Adviser was unresponsive, unhelpful, unavailable
Advising students on career options, what the chosen career pays and what other options are
available.
Advising was confusing and never really helped me. I had to figure it all out on my own. I was
directed and redirected which really slowed down my education and process towards a
university.
Advisor's need more information regarding classes and how they count.
Advisors should be better trained.
Advisory to students to be more available for course of study.
All employees should help students in their field of education
All services that were provided to me were excellent in the preparation for my future.
Be more specific
BEING THAT I AM A GRADUATE IN THE IT FIELD, I FEEL MORE FIELD EXPERIENCED SHOULD
BE OFFERED IN THE IT LAB. FOR EXAMPLE, VISUAL BASIC.NET, C++, COBOL, AND OR OTHER
SPECIALTY COURSES. HOMEWORK IS VERY HARD TO COMPLETE WHEN ALL YOU HAVE TO
RELY ON IS YOURSELF
Better prepare them for further schooling
Better availability of counselors for part-time night students working full time, More user-friendly
on-line registration process & a more organized website to find items easier for students.
Better counseling
better financial aide.
better hangs on tutoring from the Academic Learning Center.
Better help at other campuses
Better hiring of teachers. Whereas most were really impressive, some were absolutely terrible.
better inform students of what classes will transfer to a four year school and if they recommend
training classes, make students aware that they will not count towards a four years school
Better instructors.
better math tutoring (higher math)
Better Registration
Better structure online classes.
Better student advising
Better/clearer academic advisement between program advisor and general advisor.
By extending the services the academic learning services provides.
by improving the quality of the academic advising center, career center. each student need to
have an academic adviser, ready and willing to help.
by making more activities on campus as for instance a volley ball team etc...
By providing better counseling services, since the beginning. Career orientation is important
before starting a major.
BY SPEAKING TO US MORE ABOUT OUR OPTIONS ABOUT OUR FUTURE.
can't
can not think of anything at the moment
career services need to tell graduates when and jobs are available and help with job placement
check the quality of the teacher that are working here
Clarification within individual departments laying the requirements for certification vs. degree
programs would be helpful as well as clear guidelines for moving through programs towards
graduation.
Clean up the down town campus design building and elevators and stairway in parking deck
Co-op open enrollment for hospitality it has taken me three years to complete simply to co-op
Communicate through e-mail to students concerning car theft and safety issues that have taken

COMMUNICATING THE REQUIREMENTS CLEARLY AND MAKING SURE CLASSES ARE
SELECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH OTHER UNIVERSITIES
Continue doing the fine job that you are doing now, however more advertisement on the TV and
radio would be helpful and informative.
Continue the good work your doing, mainly counselors and advisors.
continue the improvement of classroom quality! new buildings like Sloan Morgan and IT have
been great, should continue in their success!
Continue to allow detailed or specific coursework for programs, not just general subjects.
Graduation office could be more helpful and friendly
Continue to provide on-line access to admissions, registration, classes.
Continue to provide the excellent services
Continue to target older students already in the work place or between jobs.
Correct problems with Security as far as cameras being checked on a routine basis. Reginald

Continue to Strive for excellence.
Counseling could be more in tune with UNCC academics.
Counseling needs improvement.
CPCC can improve the quality of their teaching by making the newly constructed building more
acoustically sound so that the students are listening to the instructor and not the person in the
hall on their cell phone.
CPCC has some of the most amazing instruction I've ever received, but also some of the worst.
Find a way to, if not narrow that margin, eliminate it's low end.
CPCC has tremendous resources for students entering into a four year college or entering into
the workforce.
CPCC is a great school the way that it is. CPCC has helped me grow and learn so much in the
past three years, I would not change anything.
CPCC staff need to work on their customer service to be more professional and courteous to all
who enter the doors. Outside of my department, Career Services is the only other dept with a
complete staff who remain professional at all times.
Dealing with the faculty and staff here at CPCC, I wouldn't change anything. Everyone that I have
dealt with over the years, have been very helpful and friendly. The Graduation Office is very
courteous in deal with students from my point of view.
DECREASE TIME for services
doing an excellent job
Don't Know.
Don't make students have student ids to take test in testing center! Employees take a long time
to get anything accomplished!
Employ instructors that not only know the class material, but know how to TEACH the material.
The majority of instructors I have had, did not qualify for this standard. I would also recommend
an overall in knowledge and consistency from one campus to the other
Encourage students to do what they want. In the beginning of programs, don't lead them on to
believe they will be 'ready for the real world' post graduation.
Ensure that all programs are at the same location; and if the location of the program is going to
change LET STAFF and STUDENTS KNOW IN ADVANCE.
Every thing works very well, but more classes need to be offered with scheduling flexibility.
everything has been provided for me with no problems.
Everything I have done through Cpcc has been great
everything is Great
EVERYTHING IS GREAT.
Everything seems to be fine in my opinion.
faster services
for instructor to return phone calls, very important for student taking an online class
For the paralegal courses, more should be offered online. The courses were first offered at the
Central campus which was convenient for the legal community uptown, and then it was without
notice transferred to the North campus. You had to attend courses
from my experience it has been great I would not change anything.
GET COUNSELORS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
get more qualified instructors to teach students respiratory therapy
Getting more students to come see the supervisor more often
Have a scholarship officer at the central campus
Have more classes available each semester.
Have more classes offered, have more sections of the same classes being offered, have more
virtual campus internet classes made available, have their air conditioning and heating working
properly
Have more convenient times
Have more people for the phone services.
Have the program chairman to be available more and make sure that they answer emails and
phone messages.
Having better teachers
Help International Students who have financial problems.
Help the students make a career decision ASAP and help them pick the right classes. Make sure
they talk to the University to which they want to transfer also. I don't think counselors
understand how clueless students are when they first start out at CP.
Help the students understand how long they will be in school when they start to sign up, instead
of letting them think that in two years they will be graduated.
Help with what classes the students are supposed to take in order to help finish faster
Higher the standard and expectation toward to students also hire better qualified instructors.
Hire more teachers so there will be more chances to have more students that could take classes
to graduate.
Honestly I believe the services were well put together
I'm very satisfied with CPCC I just have not had a good experience with the Math Department
Head.
I've said this before and I'll say it again... if CPCC would offer four year and master degrees, I
would be the happiest guy in Charlotte.
I AM BEEN SATISFIED WITH MOST OF MY TRAINING....SOME ONLINE CLASSES I HAVEN'T

I am pretty much pleased with everything that I have experienced at this school.
I am very satisfied with my program. I have my four year degree, and this has been a good
experience in receiving a more clear professional path.
I am very satisfied with the overall services I have received while attending CPCC, just keep up
the good work.
I am very satisfied, I think every think is good
I believe the guidance office and the financial aide office could have been more helpful and
friendlier.
I did not find any services to student being a problem. The services were great.
I didn't run into any problems while I was at CPCC.
I do not know of a way that it can be improved
I do not see a need for improvement.
I don't know I just know that my experience here was really terrible and because I could not go
to another college that offered this nearby I stayed with it but if I had other opportunities to
transfer or go to another college I certainly would have with
I don't know.
I don't think that there is anyway that you can help more. I felt that I was overlooked but I take
into account that there are a lot of students here and that you don't have time to look after all of
them.
I don't think there are many services that can be improved. It's a great school.

I had a great experience with the overall student services.
I had problems with my first years as a student not knowing what classes to take and the

I had problems with the co-op dept. and was not processed quickly.
I have always had a problem with financial aid. They never really seem like they know what they
are doing and were rude at many moments.
I have been a student for many years and I have seem great improvement in communication

I have been a student for two years at CPCC. Overall, I give the school high ranking for their
ability to prepare individuals for the workforce.
I have been very pleased with everything outside of my program of study. The respiratory

I have been very pleased with my instructors and very impressed and satisfied with how the
graduation office contacted me when it was time for my review. I wouldn't know who to call, so
they made it easy!
I have no complaints about any of the services at CPCC
I know that hours are a premium for advisors, but I think that they should keep students more
abreast of their progress and call back when they are called repeatedly for an appointment.,
I liked the services offered, and I can't really think of anything I'd change.
I LOVE CPCC. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE.
I see no need for improvement.
I think communication between all services to the students is a must. By everyone working
together and getting the information out to the students then its a win win situation for everyone.
I think CPCC has done a great job supplying me with what ever I need to graduate.
I think CPCC is a very friendly, good college. I can't think of anything now but of course there is
always room for improvement. I think CPCC gave me everything I need: a degree, a job (I am a
tutor at CPCC) and the confidence I needed. I am going to miss it
I think CPCC is doing a great job and can't think of any possible improvements.
I think CPCC makes continuous improvements every semester so there are no changes I can
recommend at this time,
I think everything was great!
I think that CPCC is a great school that prepares you for life. Services can improve by offering
more classes online. Overall I have enjoyed the experience and also grateful for the opportunity.
I think the best way to improve your overall services is to have more employees. The majority of
all problems I have had at CPCC were because of employees of CPCC being overwhelmed
and/or overwork.
I think the overall services provided by CPCC is very satisfactory.
I think there needs to be required meetings with counselors every few semesters for transfer
students to help make sure all the classes they are taking are going to be applied towards the
four year degree of their choice.
I think you already do a good job.
I think you are doing a great job.
I think you are doing an excellent job. Suzanne Williams was my advisor, and she was fantastic.
She got me right on track and I completed everything as soon as possible.
I think You are doing Great
I think you do a great job as is.
I think you services are pretty good but new people like me do not really know about them and
they need to be advertised more.
I think your service to students at CPCC is satisfactory.

I was very satisfied. The only thing that comes to mind are more class sections at the Northeast

not managing the vending on campus.
I would like for there to be more student activities available on campus. I have no other
recommendations.
If possible, when registering give more time to pay.

IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE MORE PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS INSTEAD OF PART-TIME

It would greatly improve the student's experience if CPCC offered an online "step-by-step"

Need to be upfront on what students need to graduate as far as classes and stick to that
information. Getting down to the end and having to accomplish more classes is frustrating not

some of the DH faculty have been here a long time and they keep talking about retiring, but they

Some of the subject matter in my course of study was out of date with current technology.
Some professors need to be aware that they are servicing professional students...not just
students coming straight out of high school...especially for those professors teaching general
required courses.
Student needs to be able to contact someone without getting the run around
Students need a better understanding of transfer credits and requirements for graduation and
certificates.
Teachers need to be more personable and at the same time challenging the students.
Teachers that actually take the time to teach the subject instead of acting like you are supposed
to know the course you are taking.
The Accounting program is very good. The only thing that might improve it is if courses are
offered more often. It's easy to get stuck and not have the classes available that you need when
you are going part-time at night.
The advising department really needs to obtain qualified individuals to counsel students. I don't
think I had the same person for more than a single semester, also any time I would ask a
question, I would get conflicting information. I did better than
The advising process is terrible. No one has an idea what is going on. Once you have gotten

The advisors need to be more aware of UNCC's general education requirements
The bookstore customer service needs to improve.
The counseling service could be easier to access
The counseling and advising needs A LOT of work on the approach of how to help students
reach their goals. Maybe ask them what they want to accomplish long and short term and the
best way to go about that.
The counseling department needs new structure! I was bounced around from counselor to
counselor and they all gave me different paths to reach my academic goals. I suggest selecting
one counselor to stay with the student throughout their time at CPCC or k

The Employees should have more patience and let you talk before they cut you off and answer
your question. Basically, better customer service. Also, when you leave a message for someone
they should call you back sooner than three weeks.
The only problem I encountered was with the counseling service. I never had a positive
experience with them, they always seemed to be disorganized and every advisor told me
something different.
The only problem I had, was the Student Records kept losing my transcript information, and I
had to fight for over a year to get credit for several courses that were transferred from another
college. Other than that it's not bad at all.
the only problem I ran into at CPCC was the fact I had to go through five different people to find
out what I needed to graduate with. but rather then that I enjoyed my time here.
The parking availability could be improved upon, but other than that, I have no complaints...I've
loved every minute of it.
The registration process and academic advisement was horrible. Every time I saw a different
counselor I was given a different program. This questionable advisement led me to double up
this semester in order to graduate rather than spreading the workload eve
The registration process has always been troublesome. I believe that the problems lies in the
fact that the CPCC Mainframe at the mycollege.cpcc.edu website and the college schedule at
schedule.cpcc.edu are not linked to each other. Students have to visit

The school does a great job in assisting students. I would like to see the school advertise more
about the many student support areas at the college and emphasize how accessible the
instructors are to assist in the students college success.
The school should talk to the counselors about the personal skills with students. Although they
are informative, they are very quick to move you along.
