Sirs: A quick comment on the need for verifiable paper trails. I am only an amateur programmer, but I know full well that in either of the two languages that I know I could write code to change whatever percentage of the vote I wanted to the candidate of my choice. In light of this there is no question that verifiable recountable paper trails are absolutely necessary for any public election system. The idea that private corporations with their own political stances can be charged and entrusted with our elections is patently absurd. How on earth did we ever get to the point where this is even a question? The Democracy is in total danger of being seized at the ballot box. God help us. Randolph A. Gaul Baltimore, Md
